WEEN IN CONCERT:

From joke-rock heroes to experimental weirdos, Ween left no stone unturned in their 25 years of tongue-in-cheek sonic exploration before parting ways in 2012. The band’s cult following dreamed of a reunion, and in late 2015 their wish was granted when Gene and Dean Ween teamed up once again to bring their weird and wild sounds back to stages everywhere. Since the band's return, audiences have eaten up their impressive musicianship, off-the-wall humor, and eclectic catalog of fan favorites like “L.M.L.Y.P.”, “Bumblebee”, and “Push th’ Little Daises”.  Whether they’re putting their idiosyncratic twist on classic rock bravado, honky tonk country, or Prince’s “Minneapolis sound”, the two always manage to turn their diverse influences into something that can only be described as Ween—and that’s exactly what ticket buyers want.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ween began as a series of tape machine experiments made by New Hope, PA natives Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo—otherwise known as Gene and Dean Ween. Starting in 1984 the duo began performing along to pre-recorded backing tracks, which they eventually converted into a series of late ‘80s cassette releases. After developing a cult following with performances at venues like Trenton, NJ’s famed City Gardens, the group attracted the attention of Twin/Tone Records, which commissioned the group’s 1990 debut GodWeenSatan: The Oneness. Ween jumped to major label Elektra for 1993’s Pure Guava and began to tour tirelessly, ultimately becoming one of the biggest cult bands to emerge in the ‘90s. Despite their success, Freeman walked away from the group in 2012 to deal with his drug and alcohol abuse. Ween thrilled fans in 2015 when they announced that a refocused and refreshed Freeman would be joining them for several live performances. While the reunion has fans excited to hear old favorites, devoted listeners are just as eager to see if Ween returns to the studio to release their first album in nearly a decade.

    Awesome sounds going down!

by Todd on 2/17/24The Van Buren - Phoenix

Ween never dissapoints. It's been almost 15 years since they've been to AZ. Hope they come more often. My first time getting to see them play 2 nights in a row. Played some great stuff that I've never got to hear live before and some favorites as well.

WEEN Rocks, and I hope Gene's head is ok

by Jordy on 9/18/23The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Seeing WEEN is always a spectacle. They remain one of the most talented and musically diverse groups out there. Their age is showing... (but who's isn't?!). Because of the breakup, and no new albums since 2007 I'm always afraid that each time I see WEEN it's going to be my last... but they keep on going. The downside of the show was watching Gene bop his head so hard with his guitar that he was gushing blood all over himself through the last tracks. Feel better soon! Pier 17 is a phenomenal place to see a show. Easy to access, easy to get in and out of, airy, but intimate. I wish the sound was a little better, but its a reasonable trade off for how pleasant every other aspect of the venue is. Also - I'm all for the 7pm start and 10pm curfew. Let's make that a thing everywhere!

    WEEN is the best

by JP25 on 9/18/23The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

As a venue although it’s a little hard to get to, pier 17 is excellent. As a band, Ween especially live is unbeatable. The marriage of venue and band was perfect. I just had a little bit of a hard time finding my way back home in the state I was in after that show.

    Ween Lit Up the Night

by Patternseen on 9/17/23The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Courteous employees and safe atmosphere. The venue was clean and well organized. Ween was simply nothing short of amazing, they played 39 songs in roughly 3 hours. This was my 7th time seeing them since 2010 and they always put on a stellar performance. The sound was incredible and they all enjoyed playing to their fans. I was a bit far from the stage but, it didn't matter much because the sound system was terrific.

by Josh K. on 9/16/23The Salt Shed - Chicago

I was premium admission which was way less crowded and still have a really hood view of the stage. Ween was amazing as expected! I will be going to all of their shows that are relatively close to me.

    Unbelievable

by Alarobi on 9/13/23The Sylvee - Madison

Second time seeing these guys and they never disappoint. The only issues are lack of seating in the venue and drink prices are crazy. Otherwise, I had a wonderful night, listening to some of the tunes of my youth. Lots of feels going on.

    The best!

by Big D on 9/13/23The Sylvee - Madison

I was a little worried that Ween wouldn't deliver, and that I had waited too long to see them, but this show blew everyone away. Just plain rocked! Deep cuts, fan faves, jam-heavy (not normally my thing, but the mood was right), and a nice crowd. Everyone was there to have fun and we did! The Sylvee is a great place, too.
