We Will Rock You truly Rocks!!!

by MGPalmer on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I have seen the original cast production in London and I must say that this performance of We Will Rock You, although on a smaller, less extravagant scale, was every bit as energizing and purely entertaining. As a major fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, I went in to the theater with a slight bit of trepidation, however, within minutes of the beginning announcement, I was totally hooked. The artists were exceptional, staging was good and the entire experience was two and a half hours of pure FUN. We went to the Saturday matinee and the audience was somewhat subdued, but that did not stop those of us who love rock and Queen in particular were ready to jump on the stage at any minute. I even looked over and saw my husband clapping his hands to the music a few times (you would have to know my husband to know that this is a major accolade). I so LOVED it that I immediately went home and began searching the internet for locations of additional performances. Sadly I have not found anything occurring within a 5 hour radius of our home except a performance in Richmond sometime in April of next year but you can bet that I will be searching for tickets as soon as they become available. This show was just pure, unadultered FUN!!! Can't wait to see it again, if not in Richmond then the next time the play comes to our area. I think its worth noting that there are many people who believe that they are going to a Queen "cover" concert and its important for them to understand that this is a musical (along the lines of Mama Mia and the music of ABBA) and it is great fun to follow the story line and enjoy the acting and dancing along with the music of Queen. Enough said...I was thoroughly entertained and only wish that my 7th row center seat was not directly behind a VERY large person (I am very petite and should know to come carrying a seat pillow) however, my husband was kind enough to change seats with me so my view was not completely obstructed. Nothing more to say but WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! Rock on!!!!

We Will Rock You - rocks!

by sonodoc on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

A very enjoyable show, with the great music of Queen. The highlight of the show was Ruby Lewis (as Scaramouche) singing Somebody To Love! She has an incredibly powerful voice, and everybody started applauding and cheering well before she finished the song; she was that good! I would go see the show again, just to hear her sing that song again.

    Freddie would approve!

by Razabell on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Being a huge Queen fan and knowing every word to every song, I loved it! The cast did a wonderful job of keeping the audience engaged and entertained. I found it fun and interesting how the song choices matched the theme of the show at the particular time of they were sung. Bravo!

    Fun musical!

by BethandMax99 on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The cast was awesome, the songs were great (of course), and it was just the most fun musical I've seen in a long time. I didn't expect it to be so funny. They brought down the house!

    Best Of The Year

by Chocobill on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

We knew going in that the music was going to be great, but the story line was good and all the little adder's like musical legends names were included as well as a good surprise at the end. My one little issue was they didn't play one of my favorite Queen songs and I thought it fit into the story line? "The Show Must Go On" - Always thinking during the show, when will he figure out how to put that VCR tape into the player and what will it show? Good moment as well.

I thought the show was lively, creative, and a musical sensation. The performers were insanely talented and entertaining. The script was creative and humorous.

This is an awesome show! A must see! Great music & lots of laughs! If you get a chance to see it, do not pass it up. If you like comedy and you like the music of Queen, YOU WILL LOVE THIS SHOW!

A must see for rock & roll fans

by GInaBGolf on 12/10/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Even though the music is Queen's, all music fans would love this musical! It was very well done with awesome voices, and the writers were great - a lot of funny one liners, etc. Highly recommended!

We Will Rock You - Meh

by redhouse32123 on 12/9/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Cool sets/visuals, fun costumes, wonderful energy, and as far as we could tell, great singing. Problem is (as usual), the vocals were drowned out by the over amplified music. The venue really needs to get better people doing it's sound. If you didn't already know the Queen songs you wouldn't have a clue what story line they were acting out on stage. A real problem for me as I don't know the Queen catalog very well. My seatmate enjoyed it more since he does know all the songs. There were times when we couldn't even tell if they were actually singing! Seems a real shame for the actors/vocalists to work so hard and not be heard.

Better than I had hoped for.

by Doorsjimjr on 12/9/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

One line title zingers showed the amount the effort taken to pull this story into more than just Queen songs. Well Worth the value for the tunes and the story.

We Will Rock You - Music Good, Story Bad

by MandDV on 12/7/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Music was very good Queen Tribute. Story was ridiculous and vulgar costumes were inappropriate. Not recommended

    We Will Rock You

by Bahareh on 12/7/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I loved the music, but it was too loud. And I loved the message of the show, about finding our own unique voice and not conforming to global fascism

    BEST Rock Musical EVER!!!

by Teresa27577 on 12/6/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Mama Mia was good, Rock of Ages was great, but We Will Rock You was STUPENDOUS!!! When they weren't singing, they were making you laugh your butt off. It was LOUD and we FELT the music, almost as good as a live rock concert. The poor old folks were complaining that it was too loud and some left during the second song. LOL

Unfortunately, the sound was very off this evening. We could not hear the actors, the music was extremely loud and we couldn't appreciate the music of Queen.

Great but way too Loud ... otherwise five stars

by wizvkt on 12/6/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I bought expensive tickets near one of the front speakers and that was a big mistakes. The seats literally shook. And by the end of the first act about 80% of the people in that section had either left or moved. It is a great show and there is no reason for them to have it a 100 db. It makes the whole thing much less enjoyable. You have a great product. Most of the audience was older, and we're now smart enough not to want to be subjected to that much noise.

    We will rock you

by newstizzle on 12/6/13Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The show was stolen to me by Scaramouche, but all together it was definitely worth going to. My favorite Queen song "Fat Bottom Girls" was actually my least favorite part of the show unfortunately. The character that performed this number was on a level somewhat below all the others. Never the less, I would recommend it!

    Great Music, Thin Plot

by HugeCCRFan on 11/12/13Benedum Center for the Performing Arts - Pittsburgh

Great music as expected from Queen. Some of the singing performances were very good and captured the Queen sound while others were mediocre. It was kind of like Queen music used as show tunes which worked some of the time in the show and at other times did not. The plot was pretty thin. The acting was good and the costuming and sets were good. While the musical selections were very good, can't go wrong with Queen music, the show seemed to drag on and on at times. Recommended if you are a Queen fan and like hearing the songs.
