About

We the Kings are a melodic emo-pop band from Bradenton, Florida, a small Southern town that doubles as the home base for Tropicana orange juice. Friends since childhood (the band's moniker even refers to the name of their junior-high mascot), the four bandmates -- singer/guitarist Travis Clark, guitarist Hunter Thomsen, his bassist brother Drew Thomsen, and drummer Danny Duncan -- formed the group while attending high school. Under the guidance of manager Bret Disend, they placed a number of tracks on the social networking site Purevolume in 2007 to build online buzz. Meanwhile, they also pursued a deal with EMI's imprint S-Curve Records, which eventually signed the group.

We the Kings' self-titled debut album was produced by Sam Hollander and mixed by Lou Giordano, both of whom had done work with some of emo-pop's most marketable acts, and released in October 2007. "Check Yes Juliet" cracked the Pop 100 that fall, and the group spent much of the following two years on the road, playing shows alongside simpatico bands like The Academy Is... and Hey Monday. They also found time to record a second album, Smile Kid, which arrived in late 2009. Like the band's debut, Smile Kid spawned a Top 100 single with "We'll Be a Dream," which featured guest vocals from Demi Lovato. We the Kings continued to tour heavily, supporting All Time Low for several months before headlining their own shows at home and abroad. The shows stretched into 2011, by which point the group had already begun work on a third album. Sunshine State of Mind was released that summer. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi

    We the Kings was Amazing!

by snarf on 3/1/17Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The Brighton Music Hall was a great place to see We the Kings. The relatively small hall makes it easy for everyone to see the band playing. The band was great and played for an extra 45 min. Overall a great experience, We the Kings is always great live!

    Amazing Band

by Sbaabs on 3/1/17Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I went to see this band at the Brighton Music Hall. The band had 3 opening acts, which I thought was a slight overkill. I bought the early entry VIP package so I was standing from 5PM until at least 9PM when WTK actually starting playing. I was slightly miserable from standing for so long. I also feel they should upgrade to a larger venue. I'm not sure if it was the tech guy or what, but the bass was absolutely too strong for me and set off some anxiety. If you don't suffer with that though, I'm sure the bass was perfect!

Amazing Concert with Great Opening Acts

by rachxox on 2/23/17The Foundry - Philadelphia

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been too. Although the event was sold out, it wasn't unreasonably packed. The opening acts were great and also relevant, being within a similar genre. It was great to find smaller bands I had never heard before. The WTK concert itself was great. Travis told funny stories and interacted with the crowd. They played known favorites and also less popular songs. It was overall so much fun, I highly recommend seeing WTK in concert!

    We the Kings AWESOME

by Pandoraearth on 4/5/16Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

We the Kings was awesome and are very engaging with the crowd. They keep you very entertained thru out the show. The only thing u can say is the venue itself is strange as the Madrid theater doesn't allow you to bring bags in.

It was such an amazing show! The openers were good, but We the Kings just made everything better. So much excitement and everyone loved the show. They made it possible to meet with them until the last person wanted too.

    Absolutely amazing!

by Bnae on 4/5/16Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

The concert was so amazing! I had an absolute blast! I would 100% go see We The Kings again in concert! Very entertaining and they just owned the stage! Very happy I decided to go! (and I had a two and a half hour drive there and back! Worth it!) Loved every minute, even the opening bands too! Brother James, She Is We, and AJR were all amazing! Not only did I get to see one of my favorite bands perform, but I discovered new favs! It's not often that you go to a concert and love the openers as much as the main band! It was worth every penny (and the ticket prices were super reasonable!) The Madrid Theatre was an amazing venue as well! Very nice and clean and the staff were super nice and accommodating with my mother needing a handicapped seat! I have no complaints at all!

by Janejane468 on 3/31/16A and R Music Bar - Columbus

I've listened to We the kings for YEARS they put on an amazing show and was just a giant party to let loose and dance! Also the opening acts were amazing as well! Coley hunter and Zac, she is we, and AJR! I would do it over a thousand times again! Tickets were reasonably priced which was also freaking awesome. Although next time I hope they do it at a different venue where it's easier to see!

I have been to concerts. Not a lot of concerts but this one was by far the best out of all of them. I had so much fun and waiting between groups wasn't boring because we had zach dancing for us.

Good but not enough songs played

by kas6597 on 3/28/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

We the Kings had 4 acts in front of them and didn't end up coming on till 9:15pm. After waiting a few hours I was expecting them to preform as many songs as they can within the time they had. Travis and the rest of the band did a LOT of talking interrupting songs to talk. It just felt like they dragged out the concert forever. This band has a ton of great songs so many albums and they decided to do at least 3 or 4 covers and Travis ended up signing the national anthem because it came up in conversation. I really enjoyed the songs that they did end up playing but there were way too many covers and pauses between songs. In addition this was an all ages concert and Travis wouldn't stop talking about sex he made references and jokes to his other band members and it was just unexpected. Without the constant interruptions, covers, and talk about sex, the concert was pretty good. I don't think I would see them live again though.

Best WTK Concert I've Been To!

by LexiMarie96 on 3/28/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Best concert! I hope WTKs comes back to Boston soon. They are an amazing group of guys! At the meet and greet they are so kind and really show you how much they appreciate you. Coley mentioned to the entire band that I rocked my ass off the entire show because I was right on the barricade near his spot on stage. I can't wait to see them again!

    Great group of bands

by CarolMN on 3/28/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The entire night was a fun romp through some of the coolest bands around. There are some really great star power guys and gals who play from the heart, and it shows. A great evening, glad I was a part of it.

Great on the album even better live!

by Haybay245 on 3/28/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The venu was just the perfect size for WTK to be able to keep the show personnel. The bad came out with a bang and kept you entertained the entire time and tearing for more at the end. Travis and the rest of the guys have an amazing stage presence and the set list was a perfect mix of everything fans love.

I'm a new fan of We the Kings and these guys were awesome. I loved how the lead singer, Travis Clark, worked the crowd and got us all involved. He loves what he does and it shows! I "dragged" my 17 year old along and she is also a new fan! Awesome job guys! Can't wait to see you guys again. Next time I will know ALL the words to all the songs!!

We The Kings took my breath away.

by FlorenceLo on 3/28/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

It was a bit tiring standing up in such a crowded space but We The Kings was worth it. As a first concert, it was crazy amazing to feel such strong beats surging through my body. The opening acts also did not disappoint. Although they were only supposed to prep us for the main event, they were just as enjoyable.

    We the Kings, 10/10

by Anonymous on 3/21/16State Theatre - St Petersburg

I needed a great concert, they delivered. Even the openers were great and I was introduced to a handful of new bands I like. Elena Coats did a small set of her own music to start, and I really liked it. If she had a cd available, I would have purchased it there. I also really loved the band AJR they had open. These guys put on a show, the had amazing energy and crazy dance moves and had the crowd going crazy. Finally, We The Kings came on and I 100% would see them again today if I could. They sounded great, they entertained and they involved the crowd in every song. It was an amazing experience and I recommend it highly if you have the chance to see them.

I had to wait 4 hours for an hour and a half long set. They promised storytelling and fun, but it was more like a bad roast.
