About

WAXAHATCHEE IN CONCERT:

Brooklyn-based indie outfit Waxahatchee makes fuzzed-out, guitar-heavy music smoldering with raw emotion and pointed wit. Driving, distorted songs like "Coast to Coast" are spartan in their construction, employing little more than bass, guitar, and drums, but that doesn't detract from their impact. To the contrary, the band's elemental approach makes their music all the more powerful, allowing frontwoman Katie Crutchfield's searing vocals to really drive her confessional lyrics home. Whether Crutchfield is playing with her band or performing solo, she always delivers dynamic and passionate performances on tour, treating ticket buyers to an emotionally-charged concert experience they won't soon forget.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Waxahatchee is the brainchild of Alabama-born, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield. Crutchfield has been an indie scene mainstay since her early teens, playing in numerous short-lived projects including Bad Banana, the Ackleys, and an early solo project called King Everything. In 2012 she made her debut as Waxahatchee with the album American Wasteland, a lo-fi collection of highly personal songs recorded in her bedroom. The album was a critical success, landing on several year-end lists and drawing her out for extensive touring. She followed up in 2013 with her sophomore album Cerulean Salt, revealing a more polished sound that managed to retain the alluring DIY spirit of its predecessor. The album cemented Crutchfield's place as a critical darling, earning a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork and topping the Official Record Store Chart in the UK. Since then she has toured extensively in the US and UK, captivating fans both as a headlining act and an opener for Jenny Lewis.

Sounded just like her album recording!

by Kels on 5/17/24The Observatory North Park - San Diego

She had stunning vocals, and great stage presence! Her voice is so strong and unique. And she sounded just like how her songs are recorded on her new album, which is rare! I will definitely see her again when I get the chance!

    Magical performance

by Gk on 5/17/24The Observatory North Park - San Diego

Amazing amazing show and nice venue! So refreshing to see the relationship between Waxahatchee and their openers Good Morning. Not sure if I’m just getting old or if the speakers or sound techs could do some adjusting but certain songs the bass over the speakers really seemed to overwhelm the vocals and everything else

by Sassy Ceasar on 5/17/24The Observatory North Park - San Diego

Katie is a breath of fresh air and her crack band were awesome. Best show of 2024, can't wait to see them again, hopefully in a seated venue

    A Night to Remember

by Dawn on 5/16/24The Van Buren - Phoenix

First of all, The Van Buren is the best place to see Waxahatchee. It was my first time here, and seeing Katie and her band was incredible. The opener Good Morning was also amazing and fun. The setlist was immaculate and seeing the whole band perform was the best part. If you get the chance to see Waxahatchee, take the risk and see them. I'm looking forward to next time.

    Waxahatchee Live May 9th

by Forrest on 5/15/24Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

An absolute Gem of a show. The music was amazing. The crowd seemed entertained and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We’ve enjoyed all three shows we have seen there and are looking forward to number 4 (Tab Benoit on May 29th)

    Waxahatchee @ The Lyric

by McT on 5/9/24The Lyric Theatre - Birmingham

The historic Lyric Theatre is so beautiful and a great venue for an intimate show. Good Morning was a great opening band from Australia that I had not heard of and their performance was great. Then Waxahatchee came out and put on a great show. The entire band sounded fantastic. The only complaint I have in intimate venues like this is that people sit in their seats. I think you should stand up and sing along and dance and have a great time. Get up out of your seats!!!

    Good stuff

by X on 5/6/24Jannus Live - St Petersburg

My second time; saw her in 2015. Katie’s the real deal Her band is suuuper slick, the harmonies dead on, the crowd so tuned in to every song- everyone loves Katie!! If you like the new album, tigers blood, then run do not walk to the show. Her catalogue gets deeper and her albums garner new fans without losing the old. Her next album will prob slay so you’ll be jonesing for those older/deep cuts. Better to err on the side of caution and go see Waxahatchee if you can.
