Shelia E was okay as an opening act, but I wanted to hear some of her more popular music.
Macy Gray was awesome! My date and I were blown away with her vocals and the level of energy she and her backup singers displayed. All I could say at the concert was WOW!!! People were up dancing and having a FANTASTIC time. After watching everyone else's performance, I honestly believe she should have been the closing act! I will defintely pick up a couple of her CDs. Great job, Macy, you rocked!
Rem's performance felt dated to me. The "Ladies/Fellas" routine was like watching an older timer from back in the day which was cool back then, but it doesn't work now. It's time for a fresh approach. I think he's a standup guy and I love his attitude towards God and that he's not afraid to discuss his struggle with drug/alchol addiction -- Kudos for the honesty and offering encouragement!
I acutally felt sorry for Roberta. As my date and I were exiting the venue in the middle of her 4th slooooow song, I wondered how many people would stay until the end. It's never a good sign when an artist ask the audience for their participation 10-15 minutes into their performance. I discovered the recipe for disaster -- back to back slow songs and cold weather. My date and I stayed until the middle of the 4th song because we had stacked parking and weren't 100% sure if the person parked in front of us had left. Fortunately, they were gone and everybody parked behind us were thrilled to see us!
I attend the Wave Fest every year and this one was the worst ever! Hope this is not the beginning of the end.
