    Wavefest 2011

by Golfnut11 on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Wavefest 2011 was as enjoyable as we expected. However, the acoustics were changed for Macy Gray and all we heard was echoing. We could not understand her even when she spoke. (We were seated Center Stage in Row C.) Sheila E. was outstanding; Kem was great as someone new to us; and Roberta Flack was worth the wait!

Show should have started an hour earlier. By the time Roberta Flack started the energy level was down (long time setting up) and the weather became colder the later it became. Ms Flack songs didn't envoke a lot of energy, even though I love her music and was the one I wanted see (My Lady loves Kem...that was the real reason we attended...lol) I know she is a big star, but maybe Kem should have ended the program.

    Fantastic show

by LU62 on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Greatly enjoyed the performances of KEM & Macy Gray. KEM's personal story of his life experience was very powerful and inspiring. Roberta Flack seemed uncomfortable in her outfit and appeared to experience problems with her audio. Her vocals were a bit off, but she is still a legendary performer. Her backup singers were amazing.

    Slightly disappointed

by MillieMill on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Shelia E was okay as an opening act, but I wanted to hear some of her more popular music. Macy Gray was awesome! My date and I were blown away with her vocals and the level of energy she and her backup singers displayed. All I could say at the concert was WOW!!! People were up dancing and having a FANTASTIC time. After watching everyone else's performance, I honestly believe she should have been the closing act! I will defintely pick up a couple of her CDs. Great job, Macy, you rocked! Rem's performance felt dated to me. The "Ladies/Fellas" routine was like watching an older timer from back in the day which was cool back then, but it doesn't work now. It's time for a fresh approach. I think he's a standup guy and I love his attitude towards God and that he's not afraid to discuss his struggle with drug/alchol addiction -- Kudos for the honesty and offering encouragement! I acutally felt sorry for Roberta. As my date and I were exiting the venue in the middle of her 4th slooooow song, I wondered how many people would stay until the end. It's never a good sign when an artist ask the audience for their participation 10-15 minutes into their performance. I discovered the recipe for disaster -- back to back slow songs and cold weather. My date and I stayed until the middle of the 4th song because we had stacked parking and weren't 100% sure if the person parked in front of us had left. Fortunately, they were gone and everybody parked behind us were thrilled to see us! I attend the Wave Fest every year and this one was the worst ever! Hope this is not the beginning of the end.

Wavefest line up out of order-Kem fans slighted

by Wayshower on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Kem should have been the last act to take the stage. Majority of fans had been attracted to the concert to see Kem. His set was cut short and we did not get his best songs. Roberta Flack is a great and respected artist, but Kem is in the spotlight now. The concert took a nosedive once Roberta Flack took the stage. She can't follow Kem. Kem is immediately relavent and hot. We were robbed of our Sizzle!

    Mercedes-Benz Wavefest:Roberta Flack/KEM/Macy Gray

by GPT621 on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I really enjoyed the concert, it was a little cool outside, but not the fault of the performers. I went because I wanted to see and hear Roberta Flack, who I had not seen since the late '70's and the rest of the performers was gravy. Because of the problems with the sound, Roberta and the others kept saying they couldn't hear themselves, so this needs to be perfected so as not to take away from the Performers. It is and was a distraction for them and the delays had an adverse effect on those of us in the audience.

Roberta Flack was a bust. I left after her third song, as did so many others. Kem should have been the headliner.

    Macy/Sheila E-GREAT, Kem- ok, Roberta-disappointed

by Anonymous on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I loved the energy of Sheila E and her band. Macy always puts on a good show, so wish her set were longer. I don't care too much for Kem, but he did a good job. I was most looking forward to seeing Roberta Flack and i'm so sorry to say i was sooo disappointed. She didn't sing nearly enough of her hits, she seems too self-indulgent and the performance was erratic at best. Her voice is beautiful, but her stage show needs alot of work.

    Mercedes Benz Wavefest

by redgirl1960 on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Wasn't the best concert I've ever been to, but not too bad. Didn't particularly care for the line up. I give credit when credit is due. I understand Roberta Flack is a well respected and seasoned musician, but I was disappointed that Kem wasn't the headline act.

    Parking is absolutely horrible

by carleena on 5/9/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I would think with the high price we pay for parking in the dirt. We would at least get to park on asphalt. It is hell trying to park and don't wash your car, it gets filthy inside and out. If you have heels on , forget it you will sink in the dirt. Also, don't try to leave early. You have to sit there and wait for someone to come that is in front and in back of you. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE HORRIBLE PARKING.
