Washington Mystics History

The Washington Mystics are a professional women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Since their introduction in 1998 as one of the WNBA’s first expansion franchises, the Mystics have topped the Eastern Conference twice and won the WNBA Finals in 2019. The team was led in their early seasons by multi-season rebounding champion Chamique Holdsclaw and four-time All-Star Alana Beard. The Mystics reached their first Finals in 2018 behind the play of two-time WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne. Washington returned to the Finals in 2019, winning a thrilling 3-2 series against the Connecticut Sun and delivering D.C. its first professional basketball title since 1978. Delle Donne won her second career MVP in 2019 while shooting the WNBA’s only 50-40-90 season, and teammate Natasha Cloud was named the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

  • Stadium great but made my daughters cry

by Jaquandar on 9/22/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Took away signs bigger than 8.5x11”. Made our daughters cry. They worked so hard on them. We saw signs at other games and they let some in even at our game for others.

  • Amazing Team

by Ro on 9/20/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great time at the game. The Mystics are a great team. I have been following them since the inception. The crowd is hype. DJ Heat keeps the party going. This makes me want season tickets. I'm usually not the one to get them because I wouldn't want them to trade my favorite player once I did, but the roster is so packed now that they are all my favs. I can't wait for the 2025 season.

  • Healthy options?

by Winston on 9/20/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I like the arena, the staff, the game experience except for the food options. Too few, non-healthy, no vegan or vegetarian options. I would like to bring my own vegan food since none can be found inside but the rules prohibit that.

  • Great experience

by TK on 9/3/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed the game. The new process of entering the arena is great. Ticketmaster should provide a better view of the seats for the game.

  • Great game. The entire family enjoyed the experience.

by Michael on 6/26/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Mystics impressed with their speed, agility and scrappy attitude, especially given that w starters were injured and couldn’t play.

  • Great game! Venue was alive!

by Lisa on 6/25/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I usually don’t see games where the venue is really all open but all the good and ice cream is as there! Great merch. Great game! Go Mystics!

  • Mystics WNBA Game

by MLA on 6/17/24Entertainment & Sports Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Overall the experience was great. The seats were uncomfortable to get to but view was great! The 200 section in that arena is a lot higher than what they seem but once you get seated, it's a great view of the whole court.

  • First basketball game

by TF on 6/13/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

This was an end of the year treat for my daughters. First game for all of us. Had a ball (no pun intended)

  • Not Prepared

by Women's Sports are here to stay on 6/11/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I don't understand how not prepared Capital One Arena was for the amount of fans that were at a SOLD event but they didn't have enough food and it wasn't ready before the game.

  • Great game with too loud sound system

by CCFan on 6/10/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The game was great, but Capital One needs to adjust the acoustics for its sound system at the 400 level at least. The constant blaring of music in the speakers took away from the enjoyment of the game and required earplugs to make it tolerable. I've heard this is an issue in the Mystics' regular arena in SE DC as well.

  • Great evening

by DLP on 6/10/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

  • Awesome Experience

by Jenfin on 6/10/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had such an amazing time at the game! The atmosphere was booming with lots of music and engaging entertainment during the timeouts and halftime show. Delicious food and unexpected give aways (rags, popcorn and souvenirs) were an added plus! I loved the theme night! I will be back with even more friends next time! Go Mystics🧡🎉

  • First ever wnba game

by Kcurry on 6/10/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

It’s was my first wnba game I went to & i wasn’t disappointed at all. Caitlyn Clark played a great game, It was an amazing experience! I definitely can’t wait to go back.

  • On court was great - the food/drink was awful

by Lisa on 6/10/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The product was great, so happy to have gone to a women's game with that type of crowd. However, the food stalls had 40-50 minute waits for things which I chose not to stand in line for because I would have missed the entire game. We talked to people who got in line when they arrived before the game started and did not get to their seat until midway through the second. It did not feel like the arena fully opened for a crowd that big and I cannot understand why. The arena needs to be fully opening and functioning with a crowd that size otherwise it completely detracts from the experience.

  • No bad seat

by DeeJay on 6/9/24Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The venue seating was good for the WNBA event. Seemed like no matter where you sat, you had a pretty decent view of the floor.
