WARPAINT IN CONCERT:
All-girl psych-rockers Warpaint first entranced fans with their arty, eclectic brand of indie in 2004, and they've kept things fresh by adding new flourishes to their sound each step of the way. The group takes listeners on a journey in concert with their broad sonic palette, mixing it up with the searing dance floor groove of "Disco//Very," the hypnotic guitar arpeggios of "Keep It Healthy," and the psychedelic pop of "New Song." Their beautifully layered sound is thick with spacey echoes and swirling textures, and they cut through the mix with gang-sung melodies and irresistible rallying cries that match the propulsive beats. Warpaint deliver the perfect blend of genre-straddling experimentation and endearing stage presence, and ticket buyers can't help but get swept up in the group's immersive sets.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Many were celebrating romance on Valentine's Day in 2004, but the four founding members of Warpaint spent the day jamming instead. After years of gigging in LA, they released their 2008 debut EP Exquisite Corpse, which was mixed and mastered with help from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. Original drummer Shannyn Sossamon left shortly thereafter to focus on her acting career, which had already netted her roles in the films A Knight's Tale and 40 Days and 40 Nights, and former Swahili Blonde drummer Stella Wozgawa slid behind the kit just in time for the band's 2009 tour with The xx. Warpaint released their full-length debut The Fool in late 2010 and continued to grow their fanbase the following year with well-received sets at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Glastonbury. The solidified lineup spent the next few years composing new material, and in 2014 they returned with a self-titled album that exhibited a new minimalist approach highlighted by keyboards and drum machines. After some time spent focusing on side projects, the group thrilled fans in 2016 with the announcement of their third album Heads Up, which they supported with the bubbly advance single "New Song." With critics and fans eager for more genre-bending music from the quartet, Warpaint continue to floor indie rockers with their energetic and unforgettable concerts.

Love warpaint! Good for fans and newbies alike. Just good live music 100%
Intimate venue to see your favorite bands. Warpaint is an amazing band from LA that I would see over and over again
Amazing band. Bring them back to Sacramento as soon as possible
I bought a VIP meet and greet upgrade and the girls couldn’t have been sweeter. They spent some time chatting with me, signed my poster, VIP access lanyard and posed for several photos. The opening act Goldensuns was AMAZING! Great addition to the show. When the girls performed it was EPIC. Interacting with the crowd the entire time. After the show, Emily took the time to give me the bands set list which was a nice souvenir. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will DEFINITELY be seeing Warpaint again in the future.
Warpaint rocked!!! Ace of Spades venue was outstanding -please bring more "Indie bands" here so I don't have to drive all the way to San Francisco. Can you bring Remi Wolf, Little Dragon, Sampha, Jackie Hayes, Broods, and the Altons to Ace of Spades please.
Super boring. No stage presence. Low energy. Very disappointed.
The title is bold, considering my first live concert was Led Zeppelin at the Forum in L.A. in the '70s. It was my 12-year-old -son's 1st concert and he was blown away. We met the band and hung out before the show and loved that front-row energy. They were so good. As an artist, I want to put all those sounds on canvas. all sorts of psychedelia going on.
I worked in the biz. I have seen hundreds of shows. Hundreds. Warpaint is consistently one of the best live bands I've ever seen. They always look like they are having fun and there is an almost magical chemistry between them on stage. The music is relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Go see Warpaint wherever they play. Well worth it. The venue itself is cool. The lower area has a bit of a semi-circular shape so it feels a it more intimate. I thought the PA was a little under-powered - it could be up beefed up a bit. With it being a Live Nation venue, I should have known they would get you for parking even though it's basically in a business-park-type area - $25 for parking near the venue and $10 for parking a few hundred yards away. I get it - it's a business. But they literally get you coming and going. Warpaint -- A++ Observatory -- B- Overall, a 5 Star rating because of the band.
The show was amazing starting with great parking, cute venue with a convenient layout, and a great opener. Warpaint sounded just like the studio versions if not better! It was so cool to see their chemistry on stage, a very special night!
I've wanted to see these wonderfully talented ladies for 15 years, when I discovered them...their music is so wide ranging, but they truly solidify my love and enjoyment for them. So, at 58, with lousy back issues, I enjoyed the Warpaint music concert so much! 10 STARS!!!❤
This one was a little different as they are on a large tour with DM and this was their "night off". They did a quieter, stripped down set which was a cool way to hear the songs. They always put on a great show and this one was no different.
First off it wasn't a show, it was a concert. Warpaint is always amazing!
Love warpaint they kill it every time. Saw them in Prov. a few months back and somehow they were even better here.
Was expecting a longer concert. Disappointed on the length of the event. No encore!
I love the music, but the constant stopping between every few songs and talking took me out of the mood
Absolutely amazing show. These girls always bring their best to their live shows. They played a variety of tracks old and new and most of the expected favorites. Highly recommended.
Amazing. Most chill concert I've ever been to. Think they played a fairly long set but it seemed short because it was that good. Was mesmerized by Jenny Lee's dance moves while she played guitar.
Great concert! Never seen them live but they were magnificent. Staff was courteous and professional at the venue.
I must admit that although I had heard Warpaint's work, I hadn't really known what to expect when I went to check them out live at Variety Playhouse on a mellow Sunday night. I got into the upper section to get a good listen and good view, and wasn't disappointed. The opening band was very good, and then Warpaint went on and holy cow, I was gobsmacked they were so damn good! This four-piece is totally solid and all four of the members play so well together, and each has an amazing voice. Their encores blew me away completely. They are truly something to see...if you get the chance to actually catch them on tour (they do not tour much here in the states) then by all means go and check them out!
