About

Brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team, this irresistible new hit features original music and lyrics by 6-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles ("Brave," "Love Song"), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland). "It's an empowering musical of the highest order!" raves the Chicago Tribune.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's beloved film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna (Bareilles). A waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.

"WAITRESS is a little slice of heaven!" says Entertainment Weekly and "a monumental contribution to Broadway!" according to Marie Claire. Don't miss this uplifting musical celebrating friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.

    Phenomenal & Fun!!!

by KLJohnson on 11/24/17Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

I took my 9 year old because we love the music (yes, there were some inappropriate scenes, but I prepared her for that). We absolutely loved it. I laughed and smiled throughout, mixed with a few tears too. Perfect performances, strong voices and great comedic acting.

    Great show and music!

by Waitressfan on 11/24/17Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

What a great show, and all the cast members were so talented. The 6 piece band was amazing and fun to have them on stage to be seen and not only heard.

    Waitress was Delicious!

by WichitaSean on 11/22/17Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

I've been wanting to see Waitress since it first opened on Broadway. When I saw it was going to play in Kansas City, I decided to buy two tickets (for my mom and me) and drive from Wichita to see it. We weren't disappointed. The venue was absolutely perfect. Seats were comfortable. Leg room in the balcony was minimal. The ushers were friendly. And the show was everything I could have asked for. My mom isn't a musical fan, so finding a show she would enjoy proves challenging most of the time. I've loved the movie for a long time, and knew she would enjoy this show. Desi Oakley (Jenna) went to my high school (she graduated a year before I got there), so it was awesome seeing someone local in a Broadway production. If you haven't had a taste of Waitress yet, you have to do yourself a favor and go see it. Sure, you'll want pie for weeks after, but that's just one of the benefits of a show that makes you hungry for more theater.

Very nice evening and enjoyed the musical just as much as I would have on Broadway. Songs and acting were right on. I would see it again.

    outstanding performance and venue

by kschurch on 11/20/17Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

I have been humming the "show tunes" for several days post performance. The Venue was outstanding... within 2 blocks of parking, hotels and upscale restaurants. Friendly staff at the performance and before (able to help with a printing issue).

An Hour I Would Like Back

by 925KSSC on 11/18/17Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

To sum it up. . .left at intermission. The venue is terrible; seats horrible and acoustics lousy. The play was vastly overrated. The music and singing could be compared to a good high school drama department. Many lame segues during the time I was there, leading to much extra time wasted. Bottom line: very poor venue and overrated play. Save your time and money.

Hilariously naughty with a serious message

    by rufus50 on 11/14/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Loved the movie and couldn't wait to see the show. Very entertaining show and music was wonderful. Not a show for children as some in the audience found out, but great for a girl's night out.

From the time you smell the pie in the theatre to the end of the show it was wonderful from start to finish. The music is delightful. The actors made you Love or hate their character. So glad I went and you should go....you will love it!

    very disappointed

by nanabampaw on 11/13/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

My husband and I left at intermission, we have never done that before. It was very difficult to understand the words when the females were singing, which I assume would have helped us interpret what the plot was. It seemed that the story never really developed.
