Wage War in Concert
Wage War are the kind of hard rock band that isn't easily categorized. That starts with their influences: Although the band's chugging riffs and jackhammering drums take cues from modern music's heaviest names (including Slipknot, August Burns Red, and As I Lay Dying), the group are also known for pairing contrasting inspirations. Their brutal grooves often fuse hip-hop and metal in the way Korn is known for doing, and frontman Briton Bond's gruff, gravelly voice alternates with the more pristine melodic approach of guitarist/vocalist Cody Quistad.
Bond, Quistad, and guitarist/vocalist Seth Blake originally formed Wage War in Ocala, Florida, in 2010 under the moniker Empires. The trio, which was then working with a different rhythm section, even released an EP in 2011, The Fall of Kings.
After some lineup shuffling, the band changed their name in 2013 and, two years later, signed a deal with Fearless Records. Wage War's 2015 full-length debut for the label, Blueprints, and the 2017 album Deadweight were both co-produced by Andrew Wade and A Day to Remember's Jeremy McKinnon.
Deadweight especially illustrates their progression as a band, as it boasts more confident, emotional songwriting and variety in dynamics. In fact, Wage War continue that soul-searching on the 2019 single "Low" — a bruising song about feeling worn down by life — and via the 2018 singles "Johnny Cash (Stripped)" and "Gravity (Stripped)." The latter two are pared-down versions of songs that originally appeared on Deadweight, and they boast chiming guitars, restrained percussion, and delicate vocals.
Live, Wage War stir up ferocious mosh pits courtesy of Bond's commanding stage presence — he directs his low growls directly at the crowd to emphasize vocal power — and aggressive, thrashing playing.
Given this energy, the band are unsurprisingly road warriors who have done several stints on the Vans Warped Tour and opened for Of Mice & Men, August Burns Red, and A Day to Remember. Wage War are now ranked among the genre's biggest heavyweights, with spots in the lineup of the Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival and Welcome to Rockville 2019.
They were excellent! Great energy to go along with their music and stage performance. Can’t wait to see them again.
Wage was was awesome, ERRA was INCREDIBLE, and the two supporting bands were great as well! Definitely see these guys if you get the chance!
The show was amazing. The energy in the room was killer. The random confetti was a great addition at the beginning. All of the opening bands were awesome too. Definitely would see Wage War over and over and over.
This was the first time I took my daughter to a metal show. We stood over to the side and enjoyed the show. People kept bumping us into the wall as they walked past us because there was very little room. Fame on Fire was amazing but on stage for 5 songs. Thrown was on stage a little longer but I didn't care for them. ERRA was on stage longer and they set Wage War up greatly. They were really good. Wage War came on and killed it. They gained a new fan at this show. My daughter had a constant smile on her face. There was a seamless transition between bands which helped keep the concert goers in the right vibe for the show. The theatrics ERRA and Wage War used was breat taking. The only thing I really didn't like was each band had their merchandise in a separate location l. I would recommend
It was a packed show, so I’m glad we got there right when the doors were opening (there was already a heckuva line formed). Venue was awesome. Bar was amazing. Bathrooms were not too bad at all. Show was absolutely incredible. 🤩
The bands were amazing and the venue was great, good accommodations, clean bathrooms, and friendly staff.
Bands put on a great show. Would recommend seeing them at the house of blues
Incredible clear sound and spectacular lights/fire show. Wage War was amazing. Will never miss one of their FL concerts,
Great venue. Smaller so it makes it less chaotic as some concerts can be.
The shows were great. The sound need some work. It was often too loud and the vocals were lost. Especially during Thrown the bass wasn't thumpy enough.
everything was perfect except that the merch table do not accept cash same on bar :(
We’ve seen Wage War multiple times. We drove all the way from Jacksonville to Orlando to see them. Which is normal for us. The Additional Financial Arena at UCF was by far our FAVORITE venue to see them at. Parking was easy, lines weren’t bad at all, bar was wonderful. PLEASE PLEASE come back there in the future. We love y’all so much!!!! Killed it as always. Wage War never disappoints 🖤🤘
Wage War killed it...they were so happy to be playing close to home...the crowd was wild...lot of crowd surfers, but too many repeat people. That needs to stop. Pop Evil and Fame on Fire crushed it...there were some problems with sound mixing, though. Vocals were drowned out a bit
This is the easiest venue to park at and walk into the venue. Staff was great. Using the VIP restrooms was awesome, clean and quick. Highly recommend this venue for a concert. This is my hometown band. Wage War was amazing. Fame on Fire was amaxing. Pop Evil and ERRA were awesome.
Great show. 5 bands. Knew 3 very well. Fame on fire opened the show sounded great. Next 2 bands didn't know. Pop evil came on 4th. Always great with them. Wage war was amazing as well. My only complaint, and its happening alot the last few years, is that they literally dont get the spotlights on them. They basically play in the dark. Especially the opening bands that dont have stage lights. Its very disappointing.
The show was FANTASTIC! I enjoyed Fame on Fire, ERRA, Pop Evil, and Wage War (thrown just isn't my style). Parking was easy to navigate, entry into the arena was effortless. Seating is AWFUL. I will likely not attend another event at Addition Financial Arena solely due to the seating. They were too low to the floor, were loose and made awful noises when people sat down, seats sloped forward requiring you to use your legs to push back the entire time so you wouldn't slide off, very little room between your knees and the seat in front of you, and the seats were TIGHT! I'm thankful now that I'm not a UCF basketball fan.
Great show, saw a gentleman in a wheelchair running the pits, saw a mom holding her little girl who was headbanging throughout and I even got punched in the eye by a very kind gentleman who was very apologetic about it. Overall it was a great show with great music and overall just a great experience. 10/10 would get punched in the eye again during a show like this.
I really enjoyed the concert, it was an awesome night.
Top-tier sound engineers. Lots of zeroes and ones. Big fan.
Wage War is always amazing so no surprise there. The Sound is a new venue to me and I loved it! The balcony seats were really nice to have for those of us that can’t stand for very long.
