  • W. Kamau Bell is Amazing

by JunkoH on 5/24/17Neptune Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

    W. Kamau Bell is having super relevant conversations about race and culture in America with his audiences through the adventuresome and effective lens of comedy. Bell's perspective as an African-American man, father to a mixed race child, along with his easy-going but still incisive style makes him an ideal person to encourage audiences of all stripes to reflect, learn and laugh at all the crazy, often disturbing things happening in American politics and society past and present. He's that rare person who can bridge the divide. Most importantly, he's a hilarious comedian who will have you laughing all night long.

Brutally honest and brutally funny PLUS, the staff at Sixth and I arranged for a sign language interpreter so that one of my really good friends could experience it with us.

  • Kamau Bell is always worth a listen

by Anonymous on 10/18/16The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

He's a regular guy, who talks about "regular guy" things, including the state of the world. And he does it in a humorous and ironic way. Hope that he comes back to town so that we can hear from him in a way that we don't hear from him on his CNN program.

  • Show Good & Venue Not Good

    by Cliff1979 on 10/18/16The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great. It was definitely worth the price. I found Kamau Bell to be funny and entertaining. My only complaint was The Wilbur. I thought paying more to get closer would be better, but it was VERY cramped and uncomfortable (literally shoulder to shoulder looking around people's head). The chairs were uncomfortable and I could barely stand when we got ready to leave. I would definitely go see Kamau Bell again...but I am going to try my best to avoid The Wilbur.

  • Personable, down to earth, intelligent humor

    by Nia1T on 10/18/16The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act was funny, though slow to get into her material. W. Kamau had amazingly bright and warm energy. He engaged the crowd; frequently reaching out to members of the audience who were seated close to the stage. Obviously those familiar with him will appreciate his willingness to take on issues of racism and sexism. I appreciated too how real his jokes were - how they reflected real life experiences; many of which I could relate with myself. It was a great show and was so worth the late hour it began (9:45pm). My partner and I were very much touched by this performance. Lifted our souls.

  • Fun night with Kamau at 6th & I

    by doctored5 on 10/17/16Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

We saw W.Kamau Bell at 6th & I on October 13. The intro comedian was an Iranian-American woman, or Persian if you have trouble dealing with Iranians. Kamau talked about a variety of experiences, including visiting the Museum (if you're African American you know what he's talking about). Working in his office-- a shared office space in the Bay area, and the prejudices he's subtle subjected to-- in a humorous manner. In some ways he's a modern Mark Twain, but he can also be physical, which at 6-5 and about 250 #s is quite a presence. ^th & I is an excellent space for a comedian or lecture. It's a good size, but you can see the stage easily and up close. It has good acoustics and is a beautiful space. .

    W. Kamau Bell discusses current events honestly and openly, without pulling punches, but without offending. Regardless of your race or political leanings, you should hear him.

  • Bring back Totally Biased!!

    by Anonymous on 11/25/14Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second time seeing W. Kamau Bell live and he never disappoints. He is so funny and so thoughtful. His social and political commentary is smart and sharp, which is sadly which Totally Biased did not last: it's not for idiots. I will always be on the lookout for his shows. His opening acts are also always great!!
