Volbeat put on an excellent show! There are many bands out there that don't live up to their full potential & sound like crap when seeing them live, but NOT Volbeat! Great interaction with the crowd. "Preacher Mike" kept us entertained! Their bass player had these jokingly facial expressions throughout the show that was good to see that he was having fun with the crowd! During their set, Mike had mentioned that the band will be out by their tour buses to hang out with the fans after the show. My buddy & I never stuck around, but that would have been cool if it did happen!
Gotta say this venue was amazing too! Not a bad view in the entire place, 2 large screens off to the sides of the stage with crystal clear clarity, good sound, pretty mellow crowd, except for the mosh pit going on right behind us, & here's something I've NEVER experienced at a show & I've been attending concerts for 24+ years: There was an actual ORGANIZED line to get swag!! Normally it's just a free forall at the table, but not here. Maybe it was the people in SoCal, I don't know, but good to see!
For the Opening Bands: Got there to hear just 2 songs from Digital Summer & they sounded good! After the bands set, they were out in the lobbly signing autographs, having pictures taken, & selling their own swag. I had purchased one of their CD's, which they took the time to sign as well & it's a solid rock CD! AND...found out that their drummer is only 13 years young! WOW!
Trivium: Just my opinion...I wasn't a fan & my buddy & I bailed after 2 songs.
In the end...Go & see this tour - It has a little something for everyone!
