Femmes great as they always have been...

by Sink on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

I am glad to write that my time was spent wisely The Femmes continue to exceed my expectations. Having lived that first album as a teenager, it was great to see they havent changed much. However the opening band was terrible. I would say one of the worst I've seen. Off key, terrible stage presence and all in all the songs were just not good at all. Might be best to manage that better. Its admirable to give the time to allow someone else to present their own art, however the audience was just not overly interested. (It was more entertaining to see a guy pass out in front of me due to being too drunk too soon.) The Femmes were great though Keep going and see you next time

    Fantastic concert and venue.

by nimh on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

My wife and I very much enjoyed the Violent Femmes and Rick Berlin. As long time fans of both local favorite Rick Berlin from the Orchestra Luna days to the present and the Violent Femmes since their first album, we thought the concert was one of the best we ever attended. Additionally, the MGM Music Hall is a fantastic venue. The sound was fantastic, no obstructed views, comfortable seating with plenty of leg room. A very well run addition to the Boston music scene.

Fantastic Show! Must see for any Femmes fan

by SusanG on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

This was one of the best shows I've seen this year. They did an amazing job, and it was so fun. Great musicians playing stuff you know by heart and stuff you've never heard before. Don't think, just go.

    Violent Femmes still have it!

by Rock Man on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Great show on Friday at the MGM Fenway! Loved how they played their first album in order to start the show then rocked for another hour. Never saw them back in the day but Gordon still has his voice and the band put on a great show. We were amused when we noticed the drummer had a Weber grill as part of his drum kit and actually played it.

    Phenomenal!

by Allison on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Sounded just like they did in the 90's. Excellent performance, creative instruments, great energy. Wish I could go again and again.

    Blinded By the Lights

by Mike on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Great Performance and nice venue. However the horizontal row of lights at the back of the stage made it impossible for to the audience in the balcony to see the band. It was a real disappointment to be be blinded by bad lighting during this great show.

    Violent Femmes Resurrection

by LeeL on 10/16/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

They were in great voice and tune reiterating they are not dead yet. They played their first and undoubtedly best albums start to finish in order leading wit two of their most popular renditions. Like most records, not every track is airplay worthy They pressed through showing their chops when they played on songs in studio recordings with Dropkick Murphys and enticing Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) to sing back up vocals on one of their songs. It's always special when their is a surprise guest. My only critique was that I thought the Venue was too big for them. Maybe better at House of Blues or the Orpheum. Wonderful event, none the less.

Still killing it after all these years!

by Ash on 10/15/23MTELUS - Montreal

The show was awesome! It’s not often a band manages to sound as good, or better than their albums, but the femmes did it! The show was fantastic from beginning to end, the venue was also great!

This will go down on your permanent record

by MP on 10/15/23MTELUS - Montreal

The band delivered! They played the self-titled album from start to finish with some extra gems at then end. They sounded great and overall we're high energy and fun. I was disappointed in the lack of consideration for one another and the amount of alcohol everyone consumed. Younger folk and Adults older than me (40) were slam-dancing/moshing. If I knew the white and entitled mostly male crowd was going to erupt in an attempt to find or recapture something stemming from their own insecurities to be seen as relevant by their own self and smelly partners, I would have spent the money on reserved seating. Again, the band is legend and they were great. The crowd should take a note from Phish that you can dance and jump around and not hit people.

Still effervescent and full of cynical fun! MTELUS is such a great space, almost as great as History in Toronto!

    Pretty good show

    by Alex B on 10/14/23

The Violent Femmes came on around 9 and played until about 10:30. They played their entire debut album in the exact order on the album which was a little boring, would have been nice if they at least mixed up the order of the songs. They then played some new and other songs and encored with American Music which finally got most of the old duds out of their seats. The audience, at least in the balcony areas, was filled with a lot of duds, most people sat like bumps on a log for the bulk of the night. Its harder to dance and get into the show when you're sitting near lots of boring people that only know 1-2 big hits and are disinterested for the bulk of the show. The band had a horn section play on a few songs which was a nice surprise and addition. The drummer had a really fantastic extended drum solo. They sounded pretty good considering how many years they have been around. Brought back lots of good memories hearing so many great songs.

    Lightshow was the worst

by Femmes still rock on 10/14/23TempleLive Cleveland Masonic - Cleveland

The music and venue were great but the lightshow was terrible. They used high powered LED and backlit the band (from the floor). 85% of the time you couldn't see them at all. They were a black silhouette. I kept thinking that they would change and go to the normal lights that would actually highlight the people in the band but they didn't. They just blast the lights directly into the audiences eyes. They wrecked the show.

    Awesome retro experience!

by Gal on 10/12/23TempleLive Cleveland Masonic - Cleveland

I loved seeing the fans, and the fact that they played their breakout album straight through. Even the songs I didn’t know after that were fantastic. My main complaint was that the venue allowed vaping inside.

High energy show, very poor acoustics

by Skeppy on 10/12/23TempleLive Cleveland Masonic - Cleveland

It was hard to decide how many stars to leave. The femmes were fabulous, and performed as I had expected. So, they get five or maybe even 10 stars! My issue was with the venue. This is the first time I've had a balcony seat in the TempleLive auditorium. The sound was very muffled and distorted. It was a bit hard to know which songs were which, until they played for a bit. I will not rule this venue out. As far as seeing other shows. (I've seen other shows here and used the VIP service with great results ) I just won't sit in the balcony again.

    Needed a cigarette

by Happy Fan! on 10/10/23The Sylvee - Madison

The show was amazing! The crowd was so pumped up (sold out) and when the Femmes launched into the first song, the crowd erupted. And it kept going and going and going. It was like the best sex EVER...to the point that my friends and I needed to go out and have a cigarette afterwords! :) Amazingly fun night and it's hard to get a bad "seat"at the Sylvie. Such a great place to see live music. Thank you!!!

    Beautifully Amazing

by Mike Bourcier on 10/10/23DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

This show was EXCELLENT. When I purchased the tickets I missed the part about the orchestra backing the Femmes. I was pleasantly surprised. The sheer amount of musical talent present on that stage was amazing. 15/10 would go again!!!
