Fantastic show from The Bangles!
by Bangler on 1/14/25The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5Can an Iconic 80's Pop band still create the magic they had? You had better believe it! "Vicki and Debbi Petterson and friends at the Sylvee."A once in a lifetime benefit concert for Joeys Song. Belle, Silverson pickups, and Letters from Cleo all performed this night along with the Bangles. What a show! "Bangle On"was the lighted banner on Stage and they did Bangle on in great style! The founding sisters of the bangles showed that not only do they still have it, but they sound better than ever and rocked the Sylvee. Vicki sang lead in most of the songs, while jamming on her guitar and Debbi literally beat the hell out of the drums keeping beat for the band and also sang lead in a coupe songs. Debbi also got up from the drum set and played guitar and sang while the drummer from The Silverson pickups sat in on drums. In Vicki's words "We are trying something new tonight. My sister and I have played together since we were teens but have never played with this band."Well, that was true. The band that was supposed to play with Vicki and Debbi was Eve 6. They canceled due to the LA wildfires. So, this was true musical improv from Belle, Letters from Cleo, and Silverson pickups members who joined in with the Bangles during the show. Although at one point Vicki with a smile called it "Controlled Kaos". Indeed, there were easels with song lists along with either sheet music or screens on the easels for the other performers to sing along with the Peterson sisters. You would never know these people have not been together before. All professionals with extreme musical talent. Only 2 of the original Bangles the Peterson sisters were on stage, but during the show there were always at least 4 Bangles and as many as 9 Bangles on stage at once thanks to help from the other bands that night. Members of the other 3 bands that played all joined in and out during the show. Even Vicki's husband Jon Cowsill was of stage at one point. The Harmonies that Bangles are known for were there in full force with a bevy of beauties from Belle, Letters from Cleo and others singing, playing guitar, base guitar, and dancing while handling all the harmonies we all love so much from the Bangles. Everyone on stage was all smiles it was clear they were having fun doing what they love to do. Sure, Susanna and Annette were missing, and Micheal has been retired for some time. But the show went on and was clearly loved by fans attending. Honestly, I did not miss the other Bangle members. Vicki, Debbi and friends were so darn good together and put on a hell of a show. It's very clear Vicki and Debbi are the heart and soul of the Bangles and demonstrated they can make a show happen without the other's but the Susanna and Annette are still listed as being together with the Bangles. We can only hope they consider a Bangles tour in the next year. It's been a long time since the 4 of them have gone on the road. I'm sure fans would love to see them performing again. We sure enjoyed seeing the never-ending magic of the Bangles that night.
