About

VANILLA ICE IN CONCERT:

From his days as one of the world's most famous rappers  to his reemergence as a genre-spanning rocker, Vanilla Ice has remained a consummate showman. The iconic flattop haircut and American flag warm-up suit of his "Ice Ice Baby" period may be gone, but the fire and energy that made him famous still abound at his electrifying live shows where he takes the stage alongside an inflatable grim reaper and launches buckets of confetti into the audience. The addition of a live drummer ensures that Ice's beat-heavy sound is bigger than ever on his must-see tours, where he treats ticket buyers to his hip-hop classics as well as recent fan favorites like "Turn It Up".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dallas-born Vanilla Ice, a.k.a. Robert Matthew Van Winkle, grew up influenced by hip-hop culture, taking up breakdancing in his teens and battle rapping at parties a few years later. In the late '80s he began performing regularly with his DJ and crew at a Dallas night club called City Lights, where he warmed up the stage for a variety of high-profile acts including N.W.A., Public Enemy, and MC Hammer. Ice made his recording debut in 1990 with "Ice Ice Baby", the lead single from his first album To the Extreme. The song was an international phenomenon, skyrocketing to No. 1 on charts around the world and establishing him as the first rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100. Several more hit singles followed including "Play That Funky Music" and "Cool as Ice (Everybody Get Loose)", but by the mid-'90s his star waned as he struggled with addiction and a grueling tour schedule. He returned to the spotlight in 1998 with the nu metal album Hard to Swallow, and has since dabbled in genres as far-ranging as country and techno on albums like 2001's Bi-Polar and 2011's W.T.F. (Wisdom, Tenacity, and Focus). Ice continues to entertain with his diverse sound and inimitable showmanship on his unforgettable tours.

    Very disaapointed

    by aj on 8/14/23

He was at least 1.5 hours late and spent less than 40 minutes on stage- the majority of that time with members from the crowd just dancing around that stage and him not singing. What a waste of a night. The other performances were just as weak honestly, doing 3 songs at most and most of the time the sound system was so poorly balanced you could not even understand what they were saying or singing.

    Disappointing

    by MichaelT on 8/14/23

We were disappointed to discover we were attending a modified "karaoke"session where the artists sing to their sound tracks. But that aside the sound system itself was terrible. It was not possible to really discern vocals or the instrumentals as all you heard was loud noise. The cover band was nonsense. The lead singer, the pastor, was great. The 4 guys dressed in white were really great but I could never hear who they were. Vanilla Ice, a draw for the event, was the worst. He did not come out until 11:15 and after 2 songs of total blasting undefined noise, and none of his former hits, we left. Most of the older generation had also left.

    Thanks Vanilla

It was nice to see him perform so many years later. I appreciate it when performers are still working for fans that have been around for decades.

    Awful Awful Awful

    by Any Nominus on 8/14/23

I don't know if it was an issue with the venue or the sound crew, but they never got the front of house sound working. They blew the circuit when doing a sound check, then continued to troubleshoot it while the artists tried to perform. We couldn't hear anything until Vanilla Ice. We should have waked out and asked for a refund!

    Just ok for the price

    by AC on 8/8/23

For the 45min we actually saw and listened to Vanilla Ice it was good. The almost 2 hours waiting from start time was what dropped the rating and review that the tickets are way to expensive for what we got. Granted the DJ was fantastic but I didn’t pay $177 for 2 GA tickets for a DJ to play music.

Never got to have an experience seeing vanilla ice, missed concert that was in Kettering Ohio, would love to see him in person and in concert. I would have to ride the city bus to Kettering Ohio, so please as soon as possible keep me updated on when he can come back. I'd like to be able to save up the money.

It was great until the end...

    by Jennchilada619 on 8/10/21Crossroads Arena - Corinth

The concert was great until the end! Young MC, Tone Loc, Coolio, and Vanilla Ice put on a great show! But then Vanilla Ice brought out 30 drunk women from the floor to come up stage and dance to music while the rest of the concert goers watched. How boring. It wasn't even as Vanilla Ice sang along, it was to recorded music for approximately thirty minutes, and then the show was over. If I had known that was how the show was ending, I would have left after Vanilla Ice finished his last song. My club days ended twenty years ago, and the last thing I want to do is pay to watch drunken women make fools of themselves on stage. I paid to see my teenage musical idols perform, not that garbage. It seemed like a cheap way to fill time.

    Okay

by Soldiergirl on 8/10/21Crossroads Arena - Corinth

The concert was get. The number of alcoholic beverages should be limited. I got alcohol poured on me several times. Better security checks need to be done. I seen people with knives, brass knuckles, and glass bottles they were pulling from their clothes. Last but not least some a/c turned on.
