Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

  • Great Venue, Good Experience

    by tslav31 on 10/8/22Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 5 out of 5

Not usually one to pay the high price in Rogers to watch the Canucks, they can be real wishy washy at times. It’s a great time when they venture out to abbotsford. The arena is a good size and no seats are too far from the ice. Always a great view and energy. They did also play well and were entertaining to watch here. Plenty satisfied with this purchase for the money. Will happily also support the Abbotsford Canucks too which is fun hockey to watch as well.

  • Apple Pay problems needs works fast

by Scotti on 10/8/22Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 2 out of 5

The new way of adding tickets to my apple wallet sounded pretty good until I got to the door. The new way is that I need to hold my phone close to the reader. This process didn’t work and I was getting heckled from people behind me. Saying “your phone sucks! Why is this taking so long! Step aside and let the rest of us in.” I have been a season ticket holder for several years now and this was humiliating and certainly uncalled for. This system seems to be a great idea, but it needs work. There should be an option in the apple wallet that allows me to either have the card reader read my phone or have it so it can be scanned.

  • Game was great, things at venue could improve

by JAX on 5/8/22Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The game was great. We were always entertained during stoppages in play and between periods. Detractors were that the floor was already sticky and gross even before the game started and concessions did not accept cash(legal tender).

  • Always fun

  • MY FIRST LIVE SHOW EVER

    by Munish K on 4/29/22Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I had planned to see Dave on New Years but I’m glad I was still able to go see him. He had Jeff Ross open and Marshall Brandon also made an appearance before Dave was introduced. Jeff was a surprise and didn’t know he’d be there; his Queen/Prince Phillip bit was hilarious. Can’t wait to see Dave again in the future and hopefully he brings a couple friends along with him on his next visit to Vancouver!

  • Lower bowl life

by Nosebleedsection on 4/16/22Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I Usually cheap out and get seats in the upper bowl but decided to try out life in the lower bowl. It seemed alright, great view at certain times. We got to witness a nice OT finisher by Hughes directly in front of us which was pretty Rad. The crowd was not quite as Lit as it has been in the upper bowl in the past. I’m used to people having a few extra brews up there and gettin slightly rowdy , heckling players and other fans was common. In the lower bowl people were just chilling taking it somewhat casual it seemed. Don’t get me wrong most people were definitely crushing a few cold ones down there but just not at an upper bowl type of level. None the less it was a mighty good time for one and all, plus we got a savings on the tickets back when Green was still here and no one wanted to buy them.

  • Great event

by Kyj on 3/24/22Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Over all it was a great event... the only thing that i feel should be changed is all methods of payments should be excepted at the hockey games... cash should be included..

  • Could be better

by Matty on 3/23/22Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I was disappointed to buy tickets to then be told at a later date that i was sat in a no alcohol zone. This should be made clear when buying tickets. Selling a beer for $19 is an insult to fans o
