Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

  • Best hockey game ever!

by SSZM on 4/3/19Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

What a great venue and experience the Canucks gave us at Rogers Arena! It was easy to walk to from our downtown hotel, the staff were knowledgeable and helpful at the arena, the food was great the beer was good, and we saw an awesome Canucks game that went into overtime and a shootout. Couldn’t have asked for a better time for our son’s birthday. We were up pretty high in the stadium, section 306 row 11, but the view was still perfect.

  • Great time for our family!

by thayes on 4/2/19Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first NHL game ever for my husband and our 2 young boys. We were greeted by a rep at the entrance & both boys were later brought first game certificates along with a softserve. The boys also loved getting a picture with Fin & seeing the drummers around the arena. We sat in the family section and had such a great time. I only wish we lived close so we could go more often!

Great hockey game but I despise the entrance security protocol... way over the top.

I really dislike electronic ticketing. I normally dont carry a phone and i really dont want to carry one to a hockey game.

  • Great Hockey

Found the texted ticket didn't work at the gate. Only the app worked. Saw people with print out and box office issued tickets. Weird when I was notified it was a mobile only entry event. Kinda weird.

Great venue, great fans, great team. Had a wonderful time.

  • Prospects intra-squad game worth the price

by Emoboy on 7/8/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The tickets were $10 and the proceeds apparently go to Canucks' charities, so it was money well spent. We even found a great place to sit (keeping it secret) if we can ever afford to attend a real game. Hats off to Ticketmaster, which seldom gets positive reviews about anything, for not gouging patrons by charging a fee to a charity event, and to the Canucks for going out of their way to make people welcome.

  • Farewell Sedins!

by MsMoffitt on 4/11/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

What an unforgettable night. This was my first NHL hockey game. Turns out it was the final home game of the season and final game for the legendary Sedin brothers. The arena holds around 18,000 and every seat was full. The game went into Overtime and the Sedin twins scored the game winning goal in OT. A true storybook ending for the Sedins. We partook in the 50/50 raffle which ended up being over 1 million dollars! We weren't winners but fun nonetheless and supports good community programs. The lines for food and drinks weren't very long and had many choices. That is a great perk with 18,000 people wondering around. Everything was clean. The staff, especially ushers, were very friendly. I'm definitely going to more Canucks games in the future.

  • Sedins rule!

by gowingsgo on 4/6/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I bought these tickets a month earlier. Pleasantly surprised that the Sedin twins announced their retirement a day before the game. Electric atmosphere! Thanks D & H for 17 years of memories.

  • Fun game

    by kst4hl on 3/13/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

This was a fun game and the Canucks won! I was impressed with the beer cups that included lids! Wish they would implement that in the US...

  • Great environment

    by epbutler79 on 2/21/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The hockey environment is great That said, I sat with my wife in the 300 level and the seats are very close so it was uncomfortable to sit shoulder to shoulder. Also, not much foot space. We decided to buy some food and souvenirs and had very little space for them. No drink holders means the drinks are on the ground and always in danger of being kicked.

  • Canucks beat Bruins

by Munkeeman on 2/20/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Great event - easy to get to and from. Great facility.

  • by abignono on 2/20/18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Clean venue, directed seating by the staff. Food could’ve been improved in the club seats. More napkins could’ve been added when given food.

  • Good Game

by MRML on 11/7/17Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Game was terrific and building is amazing. Sat 15 rows up from face-off dot and could see perfect. Was surprised how many Penguin fans in attendance. Boeser got a hat trick. Will anxiously await next time.

  • Always great in Vancouver

    by TA04 on 11/7/17Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Made our annual trip to Vancouver to see the Penguins and once again was not disappointed. Our seats were excellent, the food was great and, as always, the local fans were social and very friendly to an outside opponent fan! Rogers Arena has easy access, convenient parking and many food choices near the venue. We were really happy with the availability of parking and ease of arrival and departure because there was a football game, hockey game and Cirque de soleil show all located next to each other that started all at 7pm that evening. Love going there and will definitely be back! Oh, and the exchange rate didn't hurt either!
