    Needs polish

by LiamF on 11/19/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

Show was entertaining but needed more polish. The arena with huge video screens in the background was impressive and pleasing to the eye, although I felt far away from the much of the action that took place to the middle of rear or the arena. The acrobatics were were very good, particularly the rope acrobat. It may be important to note this act was staged the most front and center of all acts. The horse riding and training skills showed talent but the vignettes seemed repetitive and somewhat lengthy. The show could have had a better overall theme and the music could have helped to bring that across to the audience. I found the theme music repetitive and too ethereal for my taste.

Valitar was simply wonderful! Both the horses and the human performers performed beautifully. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the show!

Entertaining show, but not at the same level as Cavalia. In fact, if I hadn't seen Cavalia, I would have thought more of this show. I would recommend it to people who like horses. I would have been a bit disappointed if I had bought the expensive tickets. Sitting in the cheaper C section was just fine. Great tent and arena!

    Disappointed

by WelshPony on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

The stage was too big and spread out.. It was hard to see all the players from my expensive seats. It wasn't at all interesting to watch a girl ride across the stage as a single rider; and their hair extensions were distracting, especially with the bouncy gaits of the horses ridden. Most of the riders appeared to suffer from the gaits of the Friesian horses - they are, after all, Draft Carriage horses, not riding mounts. However the trick riders were very good, though they had a bit of a problem in the beginning. They of course needed that large stage for circling at full gallop. The Friesian drill was okay, but the gaits of the horses are too rough and bouncy for the riders to show precision. I found it annoying to see the riders heads bobbing out of sequence - very distracting. The 9 grays need to be more precise. I was disturbed to observe 3 of the horses cough perhaps from the dust of the footing - at least I assumed that is what made them cough. The lady on the rope was the best, though I also enjoyed the trampoline and skateboard act. Also liked the violinist. The lighting needs a bit of work. The biggest drawback was that i came to see the horses perform, and I was disappointed – except for the trick riders.

    Vlaitar

by Anonymous on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

It would have been great if we had been directed to the VI{ tent but instead we went to the tent for the general public. We bought a couple rounds of drinks and finally the bartender told me we were not in the VI{ tent when I complained that we had to buy our own drinks and popcorn after paying $2 60 for our seats. Once we "found" the VIP tents and the ushers apologized profusely, we had a great time. We had 15 minutes in the ViP tent after spending 45 minutes in the general tent. A little bit more than disappointing. The horses were fabulous of course.

    Not that special

by Darves on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

After Cavalia years ago, I was excited to see Valitar. All together not that special. Music was forgettable. Lots of costume changes, but no "story" or memorable scenes. Not worth it.

    VALITAR was jaw-dropping!

by MsLinny on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

I have never seen anything close to this good with horses and gymnasts. I was enthralled from the first minute to the very last one. I grew up with horses and love them so very much. The gymnasts doing the "pummel horse routine" on running horse was just spectacular. I've never seen such shiny Freesians, they are just unbelievably proud, gorgeous animals. I hope to come again and I will definitely recommend this to my friends, horse lovers or not.

    Valitar was Superb!!

by ilovehorsestoo on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

My husband & I attended the world premiere of Valitar and were completely enchanted with the incredible beauty of the show. The connection between the performers and the horses was astounding... our favorite part of the show was watching Sylvia Zerbini directing those gorgeous Arabian horses in a dance of absolute stunning beauty. This show has something for everyone. I highly receommend Valitar, it's an evening of magic, mystery and excitement that you will not soon forget. Don't miss it!!

    Beauty Personified

by Doberdame on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

How do you talk about the power and beauty of horses moving freely in a huge arena? Valitar was a combination of horses, humans, music and lighting all against a backdrop of evolving earth scenes. The riding was brilliant, the horses amazing and the scenery breathtaking. I would describe this as a mixture of Cirque du Soliel with the tumbling and acrobatics and a fantasy horse show with as many as nine Arabians moving to the direction of a lone figure with a tiny lunging whip. The stunt riding was exciting with one man even circumnavigating his mount's girth. And this was not at the trot or canter, either. The horses moved at a hard gallop with riders vaulting on and off, standing and flipping and riding backwards. All in all, this was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good show.

    impressive unique show

by Kevin44 on 11/18/12Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del Mar

If you are a horse lover, you will especially enjoy this show. It is an impressive display of horses interacting with people...peppered with a few unimpressive (such as hula hoop) acts.
