Frustrating delay put to an end by an awesome show

by Anonymous on 5/30/11Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

I had read reviews of Rahatji's previous concerts, and so was prepared for the program to start a 30-45 minute late. However, it was utterly disappointing to see this program start 90 minutes late! Apart from that, the program was great. Rahatji's performance on stage was marvelous, as always. Tip: Carry enough food with you since there will be a long delay before the program begins, and also since the catered food at the venue is expensive.

Ali Khan is great but management needs help

by AAKP on 5/30/11Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice is very impressive and I am a huge, long-time fan. However, the show started 1.5 hours late with no reasoning or apology by the event coordinators. The stage setup was sloppy. Improper tuning of the microphones left him sounding too loud and muffled. Many others made the same comments. As mentioned, he and his musicians are superb but the lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and sound management made me feel like my money was not at all well spent. A concert requires more than a great vocalist, otherwise I'd just listen to his CDs at home.

His talent is great; organization terrible

by ipblsk on 5/30/11Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

I was so shocked that the event was advertised at 7:30 and didn't begin till 9pm. I know people will say that it was South Asian etc but this needs to STOP as an excuse. Furthermore, the event organizers chose to use their own speakers and not the house speakers (I guess it saved them money?) and as a result the echos were so bad that if you were sitting up in the balcony and other levels that were not right infront of the stage, you could not hear ANYTHING clearly...and that is clearly an issue when you are going to a poetic music concert. Being fluent in Urdu I could hardly catch what he was saying unless it was a super famous song that I knew on my own. As a result, I was hardly engaged. Maybe they shouldn't have food available outside as that makes people arrive very slowly into the auditorium

    Not so great venue

by MSMorris on 5/29/11DAR Constitution Hall - Washington

The event was disappointing: - started about 1 hour late - venue did not enforce the attendees to stay in their seats.. folks were talking, walking around, dancing and obstructing view for other patrons - it didn't seem that the acoustics had been checked prior to the concert start (1 hour late).. musicians were making hand signals to the engineer to change around the sound the whole concert. - Ustad's voice was not so great.. which was very disappointing.. when he hit the really high and loud notes. it sounded shrilly. - the backup musicians didn't seem like well trained musicians either. - the disco lights that kept shining into the audience (and into my eyes) was very distracting and took away from the stage performance.

    Poor Sound Quality

by nemo5 on 5/29/11DAR Constitution Hall - Washington

The artist Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has a great voice but the sound system was terrible. The performance started 45 mins late and there was no apology. I had to leave half way through the performance with a bad headache. Overall it was not organised well.

    Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Concert

by msid on 5/10/11Arena at the Don Taft University Center - Fort Lauderdale

Amazing, fantastic, awesome, exhilarated, and superb. I enjoyed every minute of his performance. I wish in future we have more of his concert so south Floridian can enjoy excellent entertainment. Recommend highly to everyone who likes qawali style, as well as, versatility in singing.

    rahat concert was painful

by hhbuf on 5/3/11Hershey Centre - Mississauga

We were vry excited to have the tickets to go to the conert. We drove 2 hours but it was exciting, since we love his songs. On arrival at the areana we were told that we need to stand in the line to get the tickets scanned,so every one will have their seats. We were still excited to this point. Actual concert time was 7:00, it didnt get started till 7:30.Initially the opening song was instrumental, voice was so loud that even after using ear plugs ,it felt like we will be deaf by the end of the song. The quality of surround system was very cheap,it was literally inaudible. Finally songs by rahat were started and he killed all the songs for us brutaly. i would never recommend this to anyone..... not a good experience.

His voice, his style, and his talent is unbelievable. This, added on to his humble personality, defines a great singer. Words can not begin to explain my feelings through out his concert. Absolutely brilliant singing.

    Great Show!

by MoneyAiNTatHANg4 on 5/2/11Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

This was my first show at this location. The place was very clean and the entire process was very organized. The seating arrangement is slightly odd but nothing too difficult to figure out. I loved how he took requests from the audience after the intermission & even a popular song a 2nd time. AMAZING IN-PERSON!!!! I usually don't like this type of music (I was even dragged to this event by my girlfriend) but this was just amazing! I LOVED IT!!! I'm glad I went. There were sooo many empty seats that so many people were able to go to the floor seating which was just closer to the artist. In a concert like this, hearing the music is more important rather than seeing the artist. The sound system at this venue is extremely good! The concert did start late... People were able to walk into the even late which killed the user experience but I guess it's really not that big of a deal.
