South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball History
The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team is one of the most prestigious programs in the country. Legendary head coach Dawn Staley has built a perennial powerhouse, making South Carolina one of the elite teams in women’s college basketball year after year. In her 17-year tenure, Staley has led the Gamecocks to 13 NCAA Tournaments, winning three of them including the program’s first in 2017. Additionally, South Carolina has won nine SEC regular season championships and nine SEC tournaments, and has appeared in 15 Sweet Sixteens and seven Final Fours overall. The Gamecocks captured their second National Championship in 2022, then went undefeated (38-0) for the first time in school history en route to their third title in 2024, followed by their fourth National Championship game appearance in 2025.

The University of South Carolina Gamecocks play at Colonial Life Arena, an on-campus venue that opened in 2002. The arena holds 18,000 for basketball games. Besides being the home of the Gamecocks’ men’s and women’s basketball teams, Colonial Life Arena hosts the South Carolina High School Basketball Championships every year.

State Farm is easy to access, quick entry, good food and bev options, and clean bathrooms. The rows are long and the aisles are somewhat narrow. Be mindful when choosing seats. As an alum and traveling fan of SC WBB, it's always a treat to see the team and Dawn.
The atmosphere was a great experience. Both teams brought out their fans and a lot of excitement in the building. This was my first time seeing both teams in person. I'm a South Carolina fan and I truly enjoyed seeing the players up close.
The food and drink prices at state farm arena in Atlanta is ridiculous. No wonder no one at game. I doubt I will be going back! On other hand, basketball games were fun.
I'm a fan of SC Women's Basketball and Dawn Staley. I appreciate the location of the event as I didn't have to travel. I dont think it was advertised enough. The arena was kind of empty with two games being played.

I purchased tickets online in advance as this was my first trip to this arena. When we got there, my seats were high up in the 200s section so I went to the box office to ask to pay for an upgrade. They said they don’t do upgrades so I’d have to buy all new tickets. So I paid $80 for a closer seat in the 100s sections. Literally 20 minutes later, the announcer made an announcement that all upper level attendees can move down to the 100s sections at no cost. I felt the box office could’ve said that was a thing before I paid my money for this.
I purchased 3 tickets to the tune of #388.50. When I arrived at the venue all that showed up was 1 $30 General Admission ticket.
The best game I’ve been to amazing people and the girls blow it out of the park.
