    styx was awesome

by ref069 on 8/25/17Jiffy Lube Live - Bristow

Don Feldman was very good.Styx was outstanding. They put on a great show, however they should have been the last act.REO ws always a favorite of mine but Kevin Cronin seems to have lost his voice.Plus REO does not have the energy of Styx.

Extremely talented, brilliant in every way, outstanding performances! They truly appreciate their fans - it shows! These guys are the full package deal! I can't say enough great about them. They have my devotion for a lifetime. Always loved them...always will!

    2 out of 3 Ain't Bad

by LAMJD on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Came into this concert with the expectation that REO would be the most enjoyable part of the night, but let me tell you, Don Felder was it for me. He had me on my feet singing at the top of my lungs from the moment he began. He and the others performing seemed genuinely happy to be there, and I was psyched to be a part of it. Styx was incredibly entertaining, and again, seemed to be having a great time. Their performance was tight, and I loved hearing the old & the new. As for the 3rd -- REO Speedwagon -- huge disappointment. It almost seemed to me that the volume was turned way up (and I mean WAY up) just to compensate for the lack of performance. I couldn't hear a word they sang, and the guitar solos were not great. One was so way out of tune, it was embarrassing. Ultimately, my husband & I walked away feeling that it was nothing but noise, and we spent the next 2 days wondering if we would ever get our hearing back from the shear volume of their set. I would absolutely see Don Felder again, any day, any time, and I'd watch Tommy Shaw & Styx perform twice on Sunday. You can keep REO Speedwagon. As I said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Good experience. Styx was impressive. REO more laid back but still good.

Don Felder was the sleeper of the night!

by Breweranian on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Don Felder was excellent! Sounded just like the Eagles! Styx was very good! REO Speedwagon band sounded great but tended to drown out the singer at times! Slower songs were better!

    United We Rock

    by solo436 on 8/23/17Lakeview Amphitheater - Syracuse

Styx was awesome as usual. Don Felder was really good. As much as it pains me to say this, REO has run it's course. Cronin's voice was high pitched more than normal and he sounded tingy, When he spoke into the mic you could not understand him, it sounded muffled. Maybe it was the sound system but the other two acts were clear as day.

    Very nice concert experience

by VinnyinMaine on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

All 3 acts were wonderful. 3:50 minutes. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the venue ran ads about upcoming concerts well into opening act. Very distracting. I understand marketing upcoming shows but, please, not when the performers take the stage

    Styx show

by Polyrhythm on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Notice I said "Styx show" and not REO Speedwagon with Styx. Don Felder as the opener was great. Top notch band, and covered the Eagles hits as original (almost!) Styx was superb. Musically speaking, they played accurately everything they'd done from the '70's/'80's with the upgrade of technical keyboards/amps/drums etc. As great as John Panozzo was as original Styx drummer, Todd Sucherman is just outstanding. Drives the band mercilessly! REO? REO was REO Sagwagon. Or REO Fell-Off-The-Wagon. Truly never liked the schmaltzy band anyway, but vocalist is about 30 years past his prime. Sounded thin, tired, and unable to hit pitch most of the time. Too bad that they were the closers. Styx deserved a double-set with no REO.

    loud concert

by rmen on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Didn't like having ads on big screen showing during opening act, add same ad looping over & over, first time sitting in sec 3 that my ears got blown out, everyone did the same guitar solos, became boring

Felder and Styx Great, REO Speedwagon Not So Much

by Killerbeez64 on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Don Felder opened the show with the requisite run of Eagles tunes. He looked like an artist at peace with himself and really having fun on stage. Hotel California with members of Styx and REO joining was one of the night's highlights. Styx burned the house down with a mix of old and their latest rock. Tommy Shaw and James Young continue not to age. Lawrence McGowan, now with Styx for several years, really shined on this evening. Todd Sucherman demonstrated how a drum kit should be played. This band really has picked up momentum since I saw them a few years ago. REO Speedwagon was a band that really should fire their longtime lead singer, Kevin Cronin. Cronin was warbly, off pitch and shaky from the start and it only got a little better. Unfortunately, this show was one that REO closed and their singer could not compete with the energy that Styx put on the stage. As bad as their singer was, the band was very, very good. Dave Amato's scorching leads at least gave the reason to stay until the end of the show. With a new singer ala Foreigner and Journey, this band could still be a force. Overall, great show that should have ended after Felder and Styx.

    Styx was AMAZING!!!!

by PMutt on 8/23/17Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - Bangor

Styx was fabulous, was so happy with this show...They played their butts off!!! Don Felder was really great too. I was a bit disappointed with REO Speedwagon, the lead singer sounded awful and could not hit most of his notes but the music was good!!!
