Don Felder, Styx and REO Speedwagon Rocked!!!!!!!!

by PCKeith on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

The show was awesome. These guys still know how to be rock stars. Don Felder did a great opening set that was practically an Eagles concert. Styx followed that up with an even better set. When REO Speedwagon came out, they cranked the amplifiers to 11.

    Don't Be Late

by RockingHome on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

I honestly didn't know to expect from the opening act - Don Felder. Pleasantly surprised doesn't go far enough. It was a fabulous re-incarnation of "The Eagles". They could have done another hour. It was a plain jane music performance, lighting and effects were nonexistent but that's ok because the music was the reason for coming. Second up was Styx - which was nearly fully reformed with new players. They played a good mix of classics along with their new release. Their set included both a stage set and modest lighting and effects. I was looking forward to the Styx performance and I wasn't disappointed. Young and old in the crowd were thrilled with the performance. Wrapping up the evening was REO Speedwagon. I really was looking forward to REO since I'd never been to a REO show. The REO set was good nut a little disappointing. Overall it was a bit short from the hit albums and there was a steady flow of people leaving early. The set list had a good mix of their classic hits but the lead vocals have lost something over 40 years. Adding a new, young lead singer with a soaring line would really punch up and return those older hits to their original glory. But, it was a good set with good lighting and effects.

    Styx & REO Speedwagon

by smylawyl on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

The concert was great but the sound out on the lawn was only fair. The sound kept cutting out. At other times it would simply fade softer. This happened throughout ALL 3 performances.

    Great Show but...

by SgtK59 on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Don Felder was great! Styx was super great!!!! I've seen them 3 times over the last 5 years and this was the best show by Styx that I have seen. Near the end of their set, something went out in the PA and the sound lost its high end. Vocals became a little muddy. Certainly not the bands fault. REO, I love them but Kevin just didn't sound good. Perhaps the PA (which they didn't fix) threw him off. Perhaps age catching up with him. He just wasn't as good as I've heard him as recently as 2 years ago. Rest of the band kicked some serious ass as usual.

united we rock ....remember . ..

by CabinBoy on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

these guys are all well into their 60s now. that is a given, so dont expect 35 year old voices. musicianship of the REO guys was incredible, music sounded like coming straight of an album. Tommy shaw of styx still has it pretty much in full. Felder was spectacular at the Eagles song he sang . . .when they had another member lead on Henluy/frey parts it becomes a eagles karaoke moment

    Very good-

by Bumperb99 on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Overall an excellent show. Styx never disappoints. REO was a bit loud and vocals didn't come across very well. Don Felder (from the Eagles) was really good and sounded excellent.. Played a lot of Eagles music and band mates were all from well..no..very well known bands. Good harmony on vocals.

Styx were great, REO Speedwagon was not

by JakeTheBoss on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

The Styx vocals are still on the money, and the band right on. That part of the concert was great. But with REO, the 65 lead singer just didn't have the voice to pull it off anymore. If they are going to keep going they need a lot of vocals support. The other older band members don't really sing. Don Felder of the Eagles was a real treat. His voice was great and the other band members harmonized perfectly.

    My thoughts on the concert

by Promsi on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Great to hear the old Eagles tunes from Don - he did a great job in warming up the audience. Styx was absolutely amazing and I could have listened to them all night. They bring energy and amazing tunes. REO was a bust - he brought politics into tit and his voice is gone and the sound mix was terrible. We left after a few REO songs.

RDO Speedwagon and Styx, Don Felder

by thedoo777 on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Don Felder and Styx were awesome. This is our second time seeing Styx and they were great. REO was a disappointment. The lead singer was hard to understand. Granted he is older but the music was louder maybe to compensate for their voices, I'm not sure but it was hard to listen. We left at 10:30, I told my husband I wanted to remember my favorite songs the way they used to sing and not tonight's performance.

Don Felder was ok. It was great to hear the Eagles songs. Styx killed it.....They were awesome and put on a great show. Definitely worth my time. I was very disappointed in REO. The event was outside and I could not hear the lead singer at all. Performance was not exciting enough for me to stay. I left after about 5 songs. Maybe I missed something, but I am glad Styx performed before REO.

    United We Rock 1st Stop

by BGROCKCHICK on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Don Felder and Styx were awesome! I could have listened to more of both artists. REO Speedwagon, not so much. Kevin Cronin's voice was so muffled and it was drowned out by the guitars, drums, and piano. REO's sound mixing was awful. So bad, that we left four songs into their set, which was a shame, since I really wanted to hear more of their oldies. Poor sound quality should never happen. That's what sound checks are for. Makes me wonder why the sound for Don Felder and Styx was good, but for REO, it was horrible.

    Absolutely Great!

by MandMCollector on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Wonderful show. Loved all of the artists. Great venue, clean, well managed. Lots of food and drink vendors close by the amphitheater. A little bit of a walk to restrooms.

    Don't meet and greet

by kengl504 on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Great show but disapointing meet and greet package. There is no meet and greet really and they shouldn't call it that. Just a quick line up for a photo then ushered away, no meet, no greet. Definately not worth the super high premium paid.

    Awful

by Tzboxer on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Styx was ok. Nothing spectacular. Seen them many times and this was nothing like before. REO was terrible terrible terrible. Sound was horrible. Pretty bad when 1/2 the lawn area leaves in the middle of show because it was so bad.

Don Felder and Styx rocked it!

by MtDunn on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

Don Felder was the highlight of the night. I've seen styx over 20 times now and they always do great. REO what happened? The sound was off that night.

    Glad I Went

by slotjockey on 6/23/17Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - Ridgefield

While Don Felder rocked, I felt like I was at an Eagles show and STYX really put on a show, REO was a bit of a disappointment, there was NO energy at all, we left about half way through the REO show. All in All really glad we went the 1st 2 groups made it worth while!
