Concert was Great! Did not play some of the songs I like, understandable. Thought concert could have been 30 min longer. Seem too short.

About
UB40 on Tour
A UB40 concert doubles as a lesson in how reggae has informed pop music over the last few decades. Weaving together island-inspired covers of American hits like "Red Red Wine" and "(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You" with their own songs such as "Food for Thought" and "Love Is All Is Alright," the band keeps people dancing and vibing throughout their whole set.
Currently, there are two versions of UB40 touring. One features founding members Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer and Norman Hassan alongside vocalist Duncan Campbell, while the other features founding vocalist Ali Campbell and percussionist-vocalist Astro. (Please check with your venue to see which group will be appearing.)
UB40 Background
For more than four decades, Birmingham's UB40 have been one of the world's premier fusers of pop and reggae, with their working class, multicultural heritage and keen ear combining to create big hits. Formed in late 1978, the band named themselves after a form Brits had to file in order to receive unemployment benefits. They released their first album, Signing Off, in 1980, and its blend of dub, ska and reggae with pop hooks plus socially aware lyrics made it a critical favorite that launched two Top 10 singles in the UK. In 1983, they had a commercial breakthrough with their fourth album, Labour of Love, an all-covers collection made up of songs released between 1969 and 1972. Songs by reggae and rocksteady stars like The Melodians and Lee "Scratch" Perry made up the bulk of the album, and its biggest hit was a take on Jamaican singer Tony Tribe's cover of Neil Diamond's "Red Red Wine," which lets Campbell and Astro trade verses over a bubbly beat.
The global success of "Red Red Wine," which went to No. 1 in the UK in 1983 and topped the American charts five years later, helped UB40 become Britain's de facto reggae ambassadors. Blending self-penned reggae songs with Caribbean-influenced covers of pop hits like "I Got You Babe" (a collaboration with Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde) and "(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You," UB40 have forged a path as one of the world's leading reggae bands, their dual commitment to social issues and groovy beats only growing stronger as time goes on.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 9/28/10Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego Rating: 2 out of 5 UB40 is not what they were a few years ago
by expectingquality on 9/28/10Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoSaw UB40 2 years ago and they were great. Missing a lot this year. Many of their notable songs were not played, and I felt like I was watching a cheap lounge act playing UB40. Bummer. Too expensive for such low quality.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Not the UB40 I paid to see
by Anonymous on 9/28/10Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoThe lead singer was not there so all they played were mellow songs. The crowd was ready to dance but instead they went to sleep. Wish I could have gotten my money back because this is not the band I paid to see.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Too Bad for UBV40 - and for those who attended
by RHinSoCA on 9/28/10Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoOne of the key members was missing and subsequently, the band was off and played in a lackluster fashion - they lacked depth and vibrancy. Oh well...
Rating: 3 out of 5 UB40 @ Mandalay Bay, Beach
by iRATEforKICKS on 9/28/10Mandalay Bay Resort - Las VegasTicketmaster didnt indicate exactly where the event was being held @ Mandalay...either convention center or the beach. Guess what it was at the beach, so my nice slacks and dress shoes were inappropriate. The venue was nice, if you have shorts you could go for a swim. Lifeguards were on duty. One issue I had with the venue is that they allow smoking, so the buttheads that light up throw their butts in the sand so if you are sitting there you have to touch a bunch of filters in the sand. UB40 did a good job, except I realized that I only knew 2 of their songs since they have been around for 30yrs that is a whole lot of songs that I didnt know. After awhile sounded like all the songs were one long song. Exceptions were their 2 most popular songs: Red Red Wine, and Cant Help Falling in Love which they saved till the end.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Excellent Concert
by Pudge84 on 9/27/10Mandalay Bay Resort - Las VegasOverall the concert was awesome. UB40 played some old tunes off their first album, Signing Off, that I don't recall ever hearing live before, plus some of their new tracks from Labour of Love IV, as well as some classic covers (Red Red Wine, etc). Only complaint is that the show was too short (about 1:40 total time on stage), which is why they only get 4 stars, and they didn't play Johnny Too Bad. Also, Astro was not with the group due to "visa problems" as has happened with some of their previous US tours. Otherwise, had a great time, and you just can't beat the Mandalay Beach venue either.

Rating: 4 out of 5 UB40 Moved The Waters at The Bay!
by Novelist73 on 9/26/10Mandalay Bay Beach - Las VegasThis was my second time seeing UB40 at Mandalay Bay Beach. This time I came to the show a few minutes late and immediately felt the vibe as they were singing my favorite Here I Am! I danced in the water the whole time where my sister and I always like to be at shows at Mandalay Bay Beach. It was a great show from what I was able to stay for since I had to leave early and go to another show that started at 10:00...the group was missing one member but they put it down and the crowd was into it! Would definitely go see them for a third time!
Rating: 3 out of 5 Great Group - Not the ideal location
by Anonymous on 9/26/10Mandalay Bay Resort - Las VegasWe attended this concert in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay - Beach Bay. While I love UB40, the location for this concert did not seem ideal. May be not very many tickets were sold, but to enjoy this type of convert, I feel we needed jam/action packed crowd. The Beach Bay at Mandalay Bay was not the perfect setting. It looked empty. But loved the songs and the group's performance itself.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Missing Maxi Priest
by dnosdlphns on 9/26/10Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegasthey were ok. I saw them a few years ago at Red Rock and they were much better then. Maxi Priest wasn't there so the guy they had lead singing was very pitchy. When they sang together as a group they sounded great, but when the lead singer was singing solo he sounded terrible. All in all we still enjoyed the concert and I will always listen to UB40. There new songs from their new album sounded great so looking foward to that.

by Hina on 1/16/10Twin Towns - Gold CoastFirst concert I went to, always told myself "only going to a UB40 concert," Felt the buzz when entering into Twin Towns, me being quiet and to myself I felt like I left the world behind and only had one thing in mind to watch and hear the group who's music I grew up on. Had a few drinks waiting for them to arrive on stage, and yes finally they appeared. WOW the music started not long I was down the isle dancing and loving every second of it. So much for quiet and to myself. They sounded awesome and yes if I go to another concert it is definately again UB40 this time I will take my children, and yes we will have a couple of drinks and enjoy who I think is the best reggae group known.
