What a great event. we were going to go to the ladies final but decided to try the pairs and the ice dancing finals. What a great event. You see such a variety in styles and lifts. It was great.
The ladies long program was off the scale incredible to watch. So much talent in one place, in one event. It was breath taking and amzing to watch. The Venue was nice. I took advantage of watching the skaters warm up on the practice ice prior to the event which was an added bonus. Additionally the competitors of all events made themselves available for photographs and autographs - This was thrilling for the fans who came to watch the event(s). Lastly - the location and parking associted with the venue was very good/accessible, easy to get in and out of.
Attended the Ladies Freeskate at the US Figure Skating Championships this past weekend at the Greensboro Coliseum. They were awesome and we have a rash of young skaters on the way up. Champion Ashley Wagner skated flawlessly and really captivated the audience. Karen Chen, a 16 year old, finished in third place and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Our seats were great and the venue only 2 miles from our hotel which served as the skaters hotel so we got to see and meet many of the compeitiors.
The skating was great. The Greensboro Coliseum did a fantastic job of putting on the show. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
I went to the women's finals on Saturday night with my grand-daughter and it was a wonderful time. The fan-fest was well run and everyone was extremely nice and accomodating. Paul Wylie was so personable and educational in his demonstration and very open to all for questions and experiences. My compliments to WFMY and the News and Record for their sponsorships. The skating event was made even more entertaining through the use of the radios given to all for commentary during the event. The music between skaters and groups made the time go by much faster and was well done. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well-run everything was and it was a vey special time for my grand-daughter and I. I also want to say how amazed I was at how quickly we were able to exit the parking lot !!!
It was a thrill to see the figure skating Championship. The seats were great. The venue was wonderful. The volunteers were a Blessing. I was in a wheel chair and the volunteers were GREAT. My husband was able to get autographs from the skaters and what a wonderful group of young Adults. If the Championship come back to Greensboro we will purchase a weekly pass. What a thrill and Joy the event was. It is an occasion I will always remember fondly.
Great event for figure skating fans. Fun to watch it live.
What an amazing group of talented people! I was stunned at the abilities of the novice and junior level skaters!
This was a once in a lifetime experience as I don't think that the US Championship will be within driving distance from us again. The Venue was great. Lots of food choices, the line were managable, and lots of restrooms.
I went to all 3 sessions of skate on Thursday. It was fantastic. The Greensboro Coliseum was perfect for this event. I really hope we can get this event back here soon. I was impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff there. I enjoyed meeting some of the skaters and getting autographs. The Fan Zone was a big hit for my friends as well. We loved being able to watch the practice skate and getting pictures made. Great job Greensboro!
The ladies free skate competition was everything we thought it would be from the battle between Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold to the unexpected great performance of 15 year old, Karen Chen. The Greensboro Coliseum did an excellent job hosting the event, once again. It was great to also watched the skaters practice downstairs before we went up to our seats.
Time flew by. Loved the energy of the skaters. They mingled with the crowd in the corridors. Great for all ages and types
What an amazing event! It was well run, exciting, and I had a great time! I hope Greensboro gets more skating events in the future!
The skating was awesome. I really enjoyed the radios and the technical explanations of the scoring system. I think that it should be coliseum policy that if someone tries to get to their seats while a skater is performing they should be held at the entrance until the skater is done. The reason I say this is because there were several times that my view was blocked and the person coming in can still see from the entrance. The facilities could use some work. The backdrop curtains need to be dropped in a certain order and the ones behind us were not therefore creating 10-12 inch gaps on both sides of our seats so that cold air spilled over us for hours until we figured it out and moved the steel bars to seal the gap. Before we did this we talked to our usher and she immediately called maintenance and someone was supposed to come but never did. The water in the bathrooms is painfully cold and the soap is very harsh. I live on a farm so my hands meet with harsh conditions a lot but this was bad; by Sunday the backs of my hands were burning and I had(and still do have) breaks on the backs of my fingers and the backs of my hands. Also it is dirty pool not to offer parking passes at the gate all weekend long.
Unforgettable night of amazing women's skating- loved our seats and Ashley Wagner was fantastic. I love the U.S. Figure Skating Championships!
This was my wife and my first time attending a figure skating event and I was impressed.
My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
I am a big fan of figure skating, so this event was something I always look forward to.
great arena, and a wonderful skating event. loved it!
Event management was terrific. Always "energy" when between programs. Only disappointment was $15 parking and $4 bottles of water. After paying a healthy amount for tickets, felt like the coliseum was taking advantage of the event patrons.
