TV ON THE RADIO IN CONCERT:

Acclaimed Brooklyn indie band TV on the Radio thrilled fans in late 2014 with the release of Seeds, their first album since the 2011 death of their bassist Gerard Smith. The record was a triumph for the band on numerous fronts -- a tribute to a departed friend, a commitment to pressing on, and, in the opinion of frontman Tunde Adebimpe, their finest work to date. Critics and fans agreed, applauding the album's potent blend of synthpop and art rock and hailing tracks like "Happy Idiot" and "Careful You" as instant classics. TVOTR are a powerhouse live act known for their technical virtuosity and effortless cool, and their visceral performances on tour always treat ticket buyers to the perfect blend of arty indie rock and straight-ahead rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

TV on the Radio was formed in Brooklyn in 2001 by singer Tunde Adebimpe and guitarist David Andrew Sitek. They self-released their debut album OK Calculator the following year, promoting it by passing it out on sidewalks and leaving it in local cafes. Coffee shop buzz gave way to international acclaim in 2004 with their studio debut Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, an ambitious and eclectic record that charted in the UK and made them critical darlings overnight. Their rise continued in 2006 with the album Return to Cookie Mountain, a critical benchmark that featured vocal contributions from David Bowie and dominated year-end lists. They cemented their crossover success with 2008's Dear Science and 2011's Nine Types of Light, both of which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. In the wake of bassist Gerard Smith's unexpected death in 2011 the band went quiet for a few years, but they returned in 2014 with their highly anticipated fifth album Seeds.

    TVOTR at The Fox

    by TDS42 on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

These guys put on a great performance at The Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. If I had never seen them before I would have given them 5 stars. They played most of their entire new album and the acoustics at The Fox are amazing so they sounded fantastic. I was a little disappointed they didn't play more of there old stuff but that's how it goes. Only real bummer is the set ended at about 10:20pm...pretty early for a Friday night.

    Great music, great venue!!!

by medicaldre on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The Fox Theatre is gorgeous and the music was tremendous. I usually reserve 5 stars for 1 hour MIN after "leaving" stage or marathon concerts like 10/06 Bruce Springsteen at Oracle. Music was great, they did a short encore, I would see them again!

Tv On The Radio Is As Predicted

by Ruthruthless on 7/12/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

I expected exactly what I got which was not far from amazing. Not only did Tv On the Radio deliver but even their opening band, Little Dragon, did well which rarely do opening bands deliver good performances.

Stop it with the Lights Already!!!

by PurpleNine on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I saw TV on the Radio at the Fox in Oakland, CA. We couldn't see much from our seats and really wanted general admission tickets. The music was good but wasn't heart stopping or inspiring and the light show was too much. Stimulate the crowd with the music, don't tell them how to think and feel with other visual stimulations unless it is actually part of your story.

    TVOTR ROCKS!

by Broman on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Second time I'd seen TVOTR live... I would have never thought they could have topped the first time but they did! They leave everything on the stage, not holding back a thing. If you like their albums you'll LOVE 'em live! A must see band!

Freaking great show. The Fox is gorgeous and TVotR kept the energy up all night. And they know how to rock an encore. Would go see them again in a second.

    TVOTR rocks the Fox

by scconcertgoer on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

This was the third time I've seen TVOTR and the most polished performance I've seen. The sound quality at the Fox Theater is great and parking is very easy. They played a bit longer than in the past and the songs had more of a rock-orientation than the recorded versions.

    Cool band & cooler venue

    by chapman3000 on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

TVOTR rocked, as usual- and their performance was enhanced by the the two giant buddhas on either side of the stage. All in all a great show- better than their set at Bonnaroo, they are better in an intimate setting like this.

TV On The Radio Lovely Show with Flawed Sound

by TurdFergusen on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

TV On The Radio played the beautifully restored Fox Theater in Oakland and the show absolutely rocked. Their state-of-the-art LED powered light show was beautifully designed and their musical virtuosity was highly evident. My only complaint, shared by the others I attended with, was the poor sound mix. The vocals were lost in the sea of guitars, as were many other elements that are clearly audible on their studio mix. Overall, the rock-out made up for it, and we had a great time...

TVOTR- Has to be seen and heard!

by TVadman on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The renovated Fox Theater in uptown Oakland provided the perfect showcase venue for this constantly improving musical group. TVOTR seems to play regularly throughout the bay area...no doubt they enjoy spending their down time exploring the area. Both the band and the region are diverse and dynamic. The theater, the band, the sound quality and the crowd made this show memorable.

    TVOTR ROCKED

by DNiceBuzz on 7/11/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

This was the fourth time I've seen TVOTR, and it keeps getting better. HOB New Orleans I have to say was the best venue to capture their sound & energy. The crowd was definately in tune, it was packed. There was crowd of people outside willing to pay alot of money for tickets, but no one was selling. Yeah I have all their albums & singles, but everytime they perform it is a different experience. ex: they play Staring at the Sun at every show, but it never sounds the same. tha's wassup! peace and blessings. Liitle Dragon was hot too, but hey the night belonged to TVOTR.

    ECCENTRIC,AWESOME, ECLECTIC:)

by Jenmb77 on 7/11/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

The shows at HOB are always a treat because of the intimacy. This particular show was fun and full of energy. The band was tight, the sound was invigorating causing the audience to completely let loose and cut up. I highly recommend going to see them live.

    Great Concert

by philthegr81 on 7/11/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

Little Dragon was a nice opener. Very chill. TVOTR was amazing. So great hearing how their songs are interpreted live. Very intense, as Tunde was bouncing all across the stage. Crowd went crazy during "Wolf Like Me". If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

    awesome show

by TopperHarley on 7/11/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

little dragon put on an incredible opening show and then tv blew the house of blues up. sounded awesome in such a small venue, only downside was i had a guy rolling nuts talking my ear off the whole time, but thats not the artist fault!
