    KING TUT-EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR

by gmel on 1/12/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

I thought the entire production of the King Tut exhibit was top notch. My only complaint was that I was not informed of the separate purchase of the audio tour part in advance and, so, had to stand in a separate line to purchase that part of the experience. Others had pre-purchased the audio part. Wouldn't have missed hearing Harrison Ford narrate the tour. Also, seems it was free admission day at the Denver Art Museum on the day we attended and it was very crowded. That would have been good information to have in advance.

The Greatest show of the Great Pharaohs

This was excellent. So many beautiful "OLD" treasures to see! We loved it!

    Interesting yet crowded

by Anonymous on 1/12/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

The actual exhibit was good. The displays were well-spaced and contained lots of good information. It was really amazing to see items that dated back so long ago and to learn how their culture lived, died, and maintained their history. There were lots of different rooms, most had a theme which helped tell the story. We were a bit disappointed to not see King Tut's physical remains, but the short video at the very end (after the gift shop) showed pictures of the remains. I thought it was wonderful that the written description of the display item was written above the display and lower. If there was a crowd, I could always read the description above the display and get a peek at the item rather than waiting to get up close. I did not like how a crowd of what seemed like 75 people was allowed to enter at one. That made it way too crowded in the beginning. Yes, we could have skipped the first displays (which we did) and come back but then we were going against "traffic" and that didn't work well either. I understand they want to control how many people are in the exhibit at once, but I would have preferred to enter at my liesure and not had a huge crowd to deal with.

Should have come on a weekday

by Dudemom on 1/12/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

Our family visited on the last day of the exhibit and despite the snowy weather, there were a lot of people and it was difficult to get close enough to see many of the items displayed. It was very interesting to see the intricate jewelry and other items and to learn about their religion and belief in the afterlife. I would have liked more information about how one came to be a Pharoah. The main reason we came was because my 14 yr old daughter really wanted to see this exhibit. She was disappointed that there were no actual mummies but nevertheless, she really enjoyed this exhibit.

    Tut confusing

by MikeyMommie on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

I saw the Tut exhibit on it's closing weekend. Many of the pieces were quite stunning to look at but overall, I was disappointed. The exhibit did not make it clear the link between the objects and Tut. The history was all jumbled up and I left not really knowing why Tut was so important. I learned much more from the history channel than at this exhibit.

    Overpriced

by Juwie on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

The event was definitely interesting but definitely overpriced and over-sold -- it was impossible to get to the artifacts and read about them. People need to learn how to read and move on instead of blocking artifacts while they glance across the room at other things. Too much money. Knock about $15 off the price and it would have seemed fair.

    a surprise

by garbanza on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

This exhibit was very disappointing. The exhibits were difficult to see, captions hard to read and not very much info was given. A major disappointment!

    Avoid the exhibit

by macingrace on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

Though fascinating when you think how old everthing is and how intricate and complex a society the egyptians had. The remarkable craftmanship and such. I have seen it all before and marveled, granted on TV or pictures but nothing in this display made me marvel or stare in wonder. For $30+ dollars and a two hour drive to get there I would have only been satisfied if they had the caskets and more artifacts. I felt there was little there to see and little to marvel at. I was very disappointed and felt if I had never seed the exhibit I would have never missed anything. It was not worth $5 to see. I would recomend some other form of entertainment or learning adventure to spend hard earned money on.

    amazing items displayed

by Shalin on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

How some of the items were still in such good condition, after so many years locked away. And the art work was truly amazing, the necklaces, tiny coffins etc.

This was a wonderful opportunity to see Egyptian antiquities! It's hard to imagine that these pieces have survived for thousands of years.

    Once in a lifetime event

by Americastm on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

These treasures travel to the US only once every 30 years or so, and rumors abound this is the last time. These artifacts capture the lives of those responsible for much of modern civilization, and provide a brief glimpse into the lives of ordinary man. Don't miss your chance to see these wonders.

    King Tut Rules!

by CMLD on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

The objects were absolutely amazing. Great to be able to be so close to many without any glass. Wonderful displays. Interesting backstories on the history through the printed displays and audio guide. Loved it.

    Walkin like an egyptian

by JoeCO22 on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

My wife and I enjoyed the exhibit, even if the actual Tut artifacts were rather scant. The buildup including the previous Pharaoh pieces was rich in history and was presented well, but it was a little anti-climatic once you reached the end. Also wished there were more audio descriptions on the tour, they really added a lot. We saw this on the last evening, and due to a snowstorm in Denver there were no crowds. If this had been a crowded exhibit like others experienced, I may not have enjoyed it as much. Price for tickets was a bit high as well, but overall we felt like it was time well spent.

    Tut Exhibit Was Awesome!

by eqyptophile on 1/11/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

It is amazing to see the engravings on the huge statues. However it was even more impressive to look at the small pieces. The artwork on the small pieces is incredible!

I was disappointed that this was about the pharaohs and not so much as King Tut. Mainly statues. I would have liked to have seen more artifacts. I really felt it was a waste of hard earned money.
