    An Event of a Lifetime

by spidermantat on 1/9/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

It truly was amazing to see this exhibit. My mother remembers her mom visiting Tut at a New York exhibit years ago. It has been on her to do list ever since and we all agreed that we were in awe at the artifacts and the whole history/mystery that surrounds Tut's& the Pharoah's stories We visited during the last week of the showing and it was very crowded. If I could change two things about my visit it would have been to - 1) have gone at an earlier date to avoid the crowds, and, 2) The day we visited, the 3D movie was not being shown. We were really looking forward to that! Setting the crowd & movie thoughts aside, we are very thankful to have had the opportunity to see this event. Thank you for hosting it in Denver!!

    DAM Downtown

by zlerpster on 1/8/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

I loathe going downtown but for Tutankhamun and Ancient Egypt I'll make the trip. Twice, in fact. This exhibition had far fewer objects d'Tut than the famous 1970s tour, but this was partly made up for with objects from other Pharaonic periods. Included, however, were two huge colossi - one of Tutankhamun and one of his father, Akhenaten. The new Cultural Complex in Denver is nice. The architecture seems a bit sterile to me, but that may have been partly due to the winter chill. Maybe spring will liven the place up. The staff at the Art Museum was friendly and helpful as always. The displays were set to allow "up close and personal" encounters with some of our planet's most precious treasures. That was a real treat and well worth the trip. Also, parking is just $1 an hour.

    amazing show

by dlevi on 1/8/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

I thought everything in the exhibit was showcased amazingly. From the display cases, to the lighting, the multi-media aspects, the display of Egyptian artifacts, the flow of the exhibit, the amount of time spent in galleries, I was impressed. Not too long, not too short. It kept my attention, it got better as you walk through the rooms, the suspense builds as the story continues. A great example of how an ancient story can be presented in contemporary space. Great work!

    False Advertising

by harrybuffalo on 1/8/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

It was an enjoyable two hours spent with my family. However, as far what was advertised it was a big dissapointment. Only half the exhibit actually focused on "The Boy King", If you went with the expectation, from all the advertisement hype, that you were going to see an entire exhibit about King Tut you went away with a feeling you had been deceived. The movie seemed to jump around a lot and also didn't have a whole lot to do with the King himself. It started down the road on how scientists thought the mumification process worked but then even left that unfinished. Again, was an overall enjoyable 2 hours spent with the family buit fell well short of what was advertised!!

    Too Little, Too Much

by BUGGY447 on 1/7/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

Taking nothing away from the amazing and timeless artifacts presented, I felt the production was severely lacking in overall exhibition. Considering the hefty price of admission, and the overall hype we thought there would be more offered to showcase the boy king. Unfortunately the event bounced from various timelines from the reign of Djoser to the reign of Rameses II. Those who are not familiar with these rulers and the history within those timelines had to be very confused when the overall theme was Tut. The event was further marred by overcrowding that made it very difficult to witness and enjoy what was displayed. Poor form for the Denver Art Museum.

    Tutankhamun was fabulous

by JCorona on 1/7/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

This exhibit was everything I was hoping for. I did come back a second time. One of the things I liked was that the plaquards were on more than one side. On the top and the bottom. That way everyone could read while they were waiting to get up close to look. I also liked the fact that you could walk right up to the smaller items and get a really good look. The detail on each piece is absolutely amazing. But my favorite part was the narration by Harrison Ford and by my favorite egyptian authoritive.

    Great exhibit!

by tokugawa on 1/7/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

Would recommend this exhibit to anyone interested in Egyptology or Ancient History in general. Made a good attempt to fill in the gaps that such exhibits normally have regarding the lives of the common people.

    False Advertisement

by ColoradoKid1 on 1/6/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

While the exhibit was interesting, our party was disappointed we didn't get to see the piece which is featured in all the advertisements of the King Tut exhibit. We all felt it was a type of false advertisement.

    Tut

by buscameby on 1/6/11Denver Art Museum - Denver

I am glad I got the opportunity to see such rare artifacts. BUT I was not as in awe as when I saw Ramses at the NHM in the 90's. Again though BUT how often do you get the opportunity to see such rare treasures.

AK47 rifles protected this exhbit - Stunning.

by AlLeong on 1/11/10Art Gallery of Ontario - Toronto

The King Tut exhibit was educational and entertaining. Seeing first hand, jewels and artifacts that old is similar to viewing the gem collection of Queen Elizabeth, in ancient times. Pre-dating Christian faith, and recognizing the spirituality and possibly even birthplace of buddhism thinking where animal gods as well as human gods were united in earthly living, power, civilization and thinking gave a good perspective of culture. This information has the power to make us see what is going on in the world today. the mystery of King Tut's death gives us a glimpse of power struggles, similar to the expulsion or avoided death of the Dalai Lama from Tibet. We can learn a lot about our course of history through this exhibit. Well done.

King Tut not to be missed

by MissAigner on 11/2/09Children's Museum - Indianapolis

What a wonderful display. It was not quite as big as the one in Chicago, but it was still amazing.

Loved the exhibit. Getting the ear phones is recommended because it went into so much more depth on the exhibit.
