Turnover in Concert

With a name like Turnover, this band has always been prepared for change. And since their founding in 2009, that's exactly what they've endured, with major shifts in lineup, location, and sound. Still, they have always stayed true to their DIY visions. Formed in Virginia Beach, with lead vocalist Austin Getz, drummer Casey Getz (his brother), bassist Danny Dempsey, and guitarists Alex Dimaiuat and Kyle Kojan, Turnover started out as pure pop-punk.

They released a quick, punchy slice of punk with their 2011 self-titled EP and were soon signed to Run for Cover Records. They toured relentlessly going forward, alongside bands like Light Years and Citizen, but soon Dimaiuat and Kojan would depart the band. Austin then took up guitar and the band released their full-length debut, ‘Magnolia,' in 2013. The slimmed-down lineup also helped smooth out Turnover's sound. While still centered on peppy punk riffs, ‘Magnolia' revealed a far more melodic and diligent brand of emo. They soon took to the road, supporting bands like I Am the Avalanche and Major League throughout the U.S. and Europe. They also joined pop-punk pioneers New Found Glory on tour as they prepared for the release of their sophomore album, one that would mark another drastic change in both the band's sound and size, with the addition of guitarist Eric Soucy.

Second album ‘Peripheral Vision' ditched the punk attitude and tension in favor of rich shoegaze textures and soft dream pop. It proved a successful shift for the band as it hit No. 4 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. They eventually headlined dates around the U.S. and U.K. in support of the album.

In another big move soon thereafter, frontman Austin Getz headed west, settling into life in California wine country as the band began work on their third LP, 2017's ‘Good Nature.' The location change would infuse its way into the album, which glows with hazy, sun-soaked melodies. But as the band prepared for its release, they would experience another reshaping, as Soucy was forced to leave the lineup. Still, somehow, they persist, selling out shows with bands like The Story So Far, as they continue to refine their sound.

  • INCREDIBLE

by Ash on 6/4/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

A friend introduced my to Turnover's Peripheral Vision album a couple years ago and it has been my go-to album to listen to consistently no matter the mood - it's perfect when you're going through a heartbreak, enjoying a nature walk, having in the background while reading, on a roadtrip, literally anything. To see them perform it live was a surreal experience and I'm stoked I was able to be there. Tabernacle was the best venue for them to perform in as well in Atlanta. So much love and appreciation for that night.

  • Amazing

I love the seats that we had and all the bands that played, the experience was great and so was the venue

  • Turnover TurnUp

by Eric on 5/24/25Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

This album has meant so much to me these past 10 years. It’s still one of my most listened to album! Track for track, each song is amazing! The band played it, along with their other songs, so well! I would have given the review 5 stars, but there was a couple of things that weren’t so lit. Like the merch line. The guy working the line I was in was going SO DAMN SLOW! I waited over an hour and I missed almost all of Balance and Composer. Very uncool! And also the crowd was pretty lame! No one was singing along in my entire area. I forgot what row I was in but it was around the middle, towards the right hand side (if you’re looking from the stage). I was looking around in every direction and hardly anyone was moving around or singing along too. I kept singing my heart out and chanting in between songs and the girl in front me kept looking back all annoyed like she wanted me to be quiet. At a certain point I asked her if I could help her! Lol! Very lame crowd indeed! I mean I had an amazing time though! Love turning up to turnover!

  • Surreal experience

by San on 5/22/25Toyota Arena - OntarioRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Turnover for their 10 years of Peripheral Vision Tour at the Toyota Arena and it was incredible. We had really good seats at the venue but I feel like the view would’ve been great from any seat. The vibes were spectacular and the whole arena was singing along to all the songs. Also they had 2 areas for merch so the merch lines were not bad

  • Amazing!!

  • What can I say

by RL on 5/19/25Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Turnover is one of my favorite bands, they ended with a song I thought I'd never hear them perform. 10/10 performance in my opinion and I've got nothing negative to say about the Greek minus the food/drink prices. A bit high, but it's expected at a venue like this.

  • AMAZEBALLS

    by Flower.child27 on 5/14/25Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Never heard of Turnover, my best friend actually took me to this concert, a concert on her bucket list. It was such a beautiful venue and amazing bands!! Definitely made a core memory that night!! Amazing atmosphere!

  • One of the best bands around.

by Linden C. on 5/14/25Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Turnover continues to stay consistent in their live performances. Ethereal sounds and somber tones set the mood for a night of amazing songs. Always a solid time seeing them and I plan to go see them whenever and wherever they are in Texas.

  • Go see Turnover live!

  • 10/10

by Kris on 5/1/25The Fillmore Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Played Peripheral Vision in full, plus some newer stuff. Amazing show, had the whole crowd screaming every word

  • The Danforth Music hall sucks

by Sraw on 4/30/25The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

This was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Three of my all time favourite bands in one night. The music was GREAT! The venue was HORRIBLE. The Danforth music hall security took so long to let people in that we missed most of the first set. Having a balcony ticket meant we had to wait until the show was over to access 2/3 merch tables. The venue took away from the entire experience. This will be my last show at the Danforth.

  • Amazing

by Mariss on 4/30/25The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Turnover put on a fantastic show as always. The energy was everything, and they had fantastic openers (Tigers Jaw, Balance and Composure)

  • Awful Audio

by Cas on 10/8/24The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 3 out of 5

The sound was badly equalized. The drums were insanely loud and the microphones barely projected the singers voices. So while the instruments sounded great, the vocals were almost inaudible.

  • Enjoyable, slightly disappointing

by XM on 5/8/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

For as much as I love the band, I was a little disappointed. Three opening bands that had completely different tastes to them really altered the experience. This also made for a crowd that was arrogant and rowdy; not the band’s fault, just disappointing. Still love turnover and their music, just wish the concert experience would’ve been like I had always expected it to be. Another show is probably low on the list at this point.

  • All the tears and the vibes

by Holls on 12/17/22The Masquerade - Heaven - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely incredible experience. I cannot give enough praise to this band.

  • Disappointed

by Adam on 12/2/22The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 2 out of 5

Ceremony was great, then the next band experienced some microphone issues for 10 minutes, played to a bass track and no bass player. Then Turnover was huge letdown. They didn’t play any of the old stuff except for 2 songs by the time I left at 11:40 pm. Everybody sang those 2 songs and that was the most hyoe the crowd got. They said it was their first time there so I assumed they would play some of the classics but ig not

  • Mellow & perfect

by Jules on 11/24/22Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Loved how they played their new stuff and top hits like dizzy on comedown, cutting my finger off, and take my head
