The Symphonic Rock Show was incredible

by pioinfo on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

We enjoyed the balance between the symphonic orchestra and the rock band--what a great combination! The singer was Wonderful! I was a very unusual and fun at the same time. What a great way to reminisce about the songs from our youth.

    TSO Symphony with Rock

by Artistica on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Absolutely one of the best concerts ever. The TSO was wonderful, and the guest artists "Jeans and Classics" were fantastic. The lead singer, Jean Meilieur was a hit. The only disappointment was that he did not sing "Whiter Shade of Pale" - it was just performed by the TSO.

    The Ultimate Symphonic Rock Show

by Stephie65 on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

What a treat! From the music selections, vocals, orchestra soloists, and symphony. A treat to the senses and a return to a decade. Loved it! Would (will) return.

It was outstanding. That said - I was disappointed you didn't do any of Pete Townsend/The Who's "Rock Operas" - Tommy, or the lesser-known but better Quadrophenia. Both scream out for just the kind of treatment you gave Peter Gabriel and The Moody Blues. Do that next time and I'm in again.

    Ultimate Symphonic Rock Show

by vvovchuk on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

This was a fabulous show and kept us fully engaged, a lot had to do with the lead singer and "MC," Jean Meilleur. We noted that he didn't have a bio in the program and thought he deserves some credit!

    Very enjoyable show!

by MRDEE on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

We very much enjoyed the show, vocals started off rough and strained. Vocals did get better as the show moved on. Music selection was fantastic and the orchestra fabulous would see again. Maybe add Supertramp, Phil Collins

    Rock Concert for Boomers

by HarrysWife on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

We has great seats. The seats have great leg room. Concert music was wonderful. I would of liked music that was more popular in its time. Some selections seemed random as if a younger person chose them but did not live them.

    Outstanding Performances

by JAGMARANA on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Bass guitar needed to be more prevalent where called upon, e.g. Space Oddity transition. Ride My See Saw instrumental portion was the only weak link in the whole event of 17. Was pleased that the poem was read. Was pleased the encore Question was performed. I had found myself thinking the two were needed and then to be received was gratifying. Jean Meilleur was great, had power and range, didn't try to duplicate the originals but stayed fairly true. Obviously really hard to hit the notes Jeff Lynne would produce. While the trumpet/coronet player was excellent on Whiter Shade of Pale, vocals would have been good along with organ. I like to see reproductions stay true and close where possible. Old lady at the show reminded us repeatedly to turn in our reviews and with high raves for the conductor. We have no knowledge of that position so we can only surmise he was excellent; just looks like a lot of baton-waving to novices; sorry!

    More Volume

by 15Red on 2/11/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

I enjoyed the Ultimate Symphonic Rock show but there were a few things that needed upgrades. The concert was not loud enough. I have perfect hearing and appreciate that most of the audience were senior citizens but rock music should be played loud. I was rocking in my seat but most of the patrons were motionless and enthusiasm from the audience always helps a show. Good selection of songs from the highlighted artists.

    Excellent Music

by PatriciaandMike on 2/10/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Was super enthused about the hits from Procol Harem, ELO and especially the Moody Blues and they all were terrific. Was surprised by some of the other bands represented that I did not associate with symphony music.

    When will it be back?

by OldFartFitness on 2/10/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Wow, extraordinary. I wondered aloud that if the season ticket holders were saying... "oh sure, look at all the people here for the best show of the year". I've seen David Bowie, Moody Blues and others live... the show did them proud I'm sure. I will be looking for this show next year and will not miss it... ever.

Ultimate Symphonic Rock Show Stirred old memories

by NIKDANGR on 2/10/15Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Opening night, Tucson. Great seats, center of the building, orchestra. The Tucson Symphony was flawless and tight. An impressive group of artists. Acoustics were great. The guest Maestro brought the symphony together nicely. I appreciated his interpretation of the melodies. The selection of songs had a good flow and transitioned well. I feel that the guest rock band should have increased the volume for the lead guitar and bass in more areas of the songs. Some of the pieces were originally written and performed with accentuated presentation and this would have been acceptable. I feel the band was concerned with "rolling over" the symphony with their amplified instruments. This is something, I'm confident will be attained with a little tweakage in subsequent performances. The lead singer was engaging with his wit and humor, however, I would have liked a stronger voice for the role. Admittedly, it's a major challenge to emulate Justin Hayward who was known as "The Voice". Overall it was a very enjoyable experience at a great price.
