TREY ANASTASIO IN CONCERT:

Trey Anastasio's music transcends the walls of traditional rock -- whether he's leading the band Phish with his unique vocals or composing original licks on his Martin guitar, Anastasio proves his virtuosity as an extremely well-rounded musician. Although he's played alongside a diverse group of acts ranging from Dave Matthews to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Anastasio always returns to his roots as a guitarist and composer, captivating audiences with his grand use of arpeggios and improvisation at his live shows. Hitting the road with a number of different bands, Anastasio will treat fans to hit-filled sets on his highly anticipated summer tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Texas, Trey Anastasio got his start in college as the frontman of legendary jam band Phish, performing at local house parties for fellow classmates. The band rose to fame in the late '80s with their cult debut Phish (The White Tape), and eleven more albums followed over the course of their three-decade career. During the band's run, Anastasio released ten solo records, including an orchestral album and a collaboration between Primus' Les Claypool (bass) and Police's Stewart Copeland (drums) called Oysterhead. Not only has he had an expansive collection of hits, but he's also dabbled in chamber music and scoring for theater, composing a number of orchestral pieces and penning music for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. Anastasio has a packed summer tour ahead, and he's sure to delight fans as he performs with the Trey Anastasio Band, Phish, and the LA Philharmonic.

  • Trey was incredible!

    by Chris59 on 2/20/10Riviera Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

A truly awesome show all around! Trey and the Classic TAB were fantastic all night long. Huge crowd, great venue, and unbelievable music. If you get a chance to see this show, do it! You won't be sorry!!

Absolutely unbelievable show. The energy was pouring off the stage into the crowd and bouncing off the walls. I have never seen Trey so together and on his game. The band behind Trey are special musicians and I really felt privileged to be at the show. "Push on till the day", which I've heard live 5 times now, is definitely a the top of my list. All I can say is amazing musicians, great music and incredible fan base. Dont miss this band. Scalpers were asking $150 a ticket, I would've paid $500 and not thought twice about it.

  • Trey and TAB Up the Ante

    by NYMikeB on 2/17/10Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Trey with every adaptation of his solo work. I've seen him with just Tony and Russ, then with Ray also, all the way up to when he had a 10 piece. I rather enjoyed Trey's 10 piece, but honestly, the way they played on 2/16/10 was just terrific. It was an extremely high energy show. Russ and Ray were totally pumped and Jennifer was awesome, as usual. New edition, Natalie, was great and it was a really cool atmosphere when Trey introduced her; very familial. Trey, as is always the case these days, was phenominal; ever evolving in his sound, technique, and phrasing. Don Hart's pre-tour re-charting for the horn section really paid off. They were solid and the chords were big and juicy. If there are tickets still available at your local venue, you'd be a fool not to go. Best $40 I've spent in a while.

Show was absolutely amazing. Terminal 5 wasnt as bad as i had heard. Long lines for everything but if you got there early you could spend the whole show upfront. Was very fun. Trey was amazing.

This was the first time I saw Trey live and I have to say it was absolutely AMAZING. It was an incredible experience. I could go on for days but you get the picture. If you get a chance to see Trey with Classic Tab I have no doubt you will be amazed.

  • Amazing Trey Show

by Anonymous on 2/12/10The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This show was incredible. I have seen 3 shows at the Electric Factory, and all three were great. This was my first Trey show, and it did not disappoint! I went with my boyfriend who is a Phish and Trey fan and has seen them both several times, but even he was raving about how great this show and both sets were. Props to TAB for some incredible jams, solos for each instrument, and great backup vocals. What a great vibe and experience!

Great show! So fun to watch TAB get down with their bad selves...I would totally recommend a Trey concert to anyone...that said...the Electric Factory kinda stunk as a venue...definitely more of a young, punk type atmosphere...didn't fit the music.

  • A great night with Trey and the BSO

    by playdead86 on 7/12/09Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

I didn't know quite what to expect from this performance, but it was a great night of excellent musicianship at a beautiful venue. I cannot say enough about the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, it's simply amazing and I would jump at the opportunity to see a show there again. Trey was spot on for almost the entire night and obviously humbled to be in the presence of such an incredible group of musicians. It was great to see him in a new light and displaying talents I've always known he had. The setlist was simply superb, opening with Divided Sky and following with other beautiful Phish classics like Brian and Robert, The Inlaw Josie Wales and Water in the Sky (dedicated to Trey's sister who had recently succumbed to a long bout with cancer). Pebbles and Marbles and First Tube provided a rocking end to the first set, and even if the show were to end right there I would have been completely satisfied. The second set featured Trey's epic orchestral composition Time Turns Elastic and ended with an incredible version of Guyute. All in all, this show was definitely worth the 3 hour drive from NJ and if you have the opportunity to see one of these rare performances I would consider it a must-go.

  • calssical and rock n' roll perfected

by cache on 7/12/09Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Trey Anastasio has been one of my favorite guitar players, song writter, and all around musician from the first time l saw him joined with dave mathews in philly for a project called dave and friends in 03 and since then I have followed him from the end of phish through his five year solo act with seventy volt parade , to tad ,and back to phish in hampton 09. When I arrived at the concert hall I felt a bit out of place , so many people were dressesd up but of course their were plenty of steriotypical phish fans to blend into, but seeing people so dressed up made me more excited getting the feeling I was about to see something completely new and I was right, the orchestra meshed perfectly with trey hipnotic solos and lyrics in a generation of so many movie remakes and lazy stale music it is refreashing to see and hear something so creative that speaks to a range of generations musical preffences. To have such stunning classical music mixed with powerful electric rock and roll and have it sound the way it does is just for lack of a better word incredible. I look at music from entirely new perspective, I pray it will be release for purchase.

  • Peak Performance

by Kfunkorange on 7/12/09Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen hundreds of shows and too many to list with Trey on Guitar and this was just a stand out performance. It was very emotional and so intimate. Trey had just lost his sister to cancer and his version of Water in the sky was truly amazing. It is good to see Trey back in the light and playing so well. I hope he does more shows like this in the future!

  • Absolutely Amazing!

by kushmeja on 7/12/09Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Trey Anastasio of Phish and Marin Alsop of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra came together for this night of beautiful music and Great Times! Anyone who had doubts about Trey's (and Phish's) return after the last few tumultuous years saw that Trey is back and taking his music to another level!

  • Trey was awesome as was BSO

by BSOfan on 7/12/09Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Inspirational performance. Trey was at the top of his game. BSO backed up beautifully. Would love to see it again.
