TREY ANASTASIO IN CONCERT:

Trey Anastasio's music transcends the walls of traditional rock -- whether he's leading the band Phish with his unique vocals or composing original licks on his Martin guitar, Anastasio proves his virtuosity as an extremely well-rounded musician. Although he's played alongside a diverse group of acts ranging from Dave Matthews to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Anastasio always returns to his roots as a guitarist and composer, captivating audiences with his grand use of arpeggios and improvisation at his live shows. Hitting the road with a number of different bands, Anastasio will treat fans to hit-filled sets on his highly anticipated summer tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Texas, Trey Anastasio got his start in college as the frontman of legendary jam band Phish, performing at local house parties for fellow classmates. The band rose to fame in the late '80s with their cult debut Phish (The White Tape), and eleven more albums followed over the course of their three-decade career. During the band's run, Anastasio released ten solo records, including an orchestral album and a collaboration between Primus' Les Claypool (bass) and Police's Stewart Copeland (drums) called Oysterhead. Not only has he had an expansive collection of hits, but he's also dabbled in chamber music and scoring for theater, composing a number of orchestral pieces and penning music for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. Anastasio has a packed summer tour ahead, and he's sure to delight fans as he performs with the Trey Anastasio Band, Phish, and the LA Philharmonic.

"Great show - Trey and the whole band played beautifully."

More fun than 3 barrels of monkeys

by fooze on 2/21/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

Once again Trey Anastasio proves himself to be one of the greatest musicians of our time. The acoustic set was full of staples and surprises. The set closer, "the devil went down to Georgia" had me smilin' through the set break. I remember when that song was on radio, 1978 i believe. Trey & the gang wasted no time heating things up opening the electric set with $ love & change. They debuted Ocelot. A half dozen other songs ensued, all nicely done. Then 4 me it just snowballed. Sand, drifting, the way I feel, and to close Push on til the day. They came back out 4 Cayman Review and bowed to the elated crowd. I first saw Trey band in summer of 2001 @ Jones beach. I have never seen Phish. I just don't care for 1/2 of their songs. Terminal 5 on tue & possibly Electric Factory on Wed. My hat is off to u Trey. Keep up the great work. Peace kidz :0)

TAB delivers on every level at the Palace 2/19/11

by DonnieDigs on 2/21/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

The Palace is a very cool Theatre, the sound was great, all the people inside were extremely friendly and helpful, and Trey really gave his fans a special treat! If you appreciate good music & musicians as much as I do, and you have the opportunity to watch Trey do what he does on stage then you'll quickly understand why his fans will follow him anywhere. I'm glad I made the Trek from Syracuse that evening to hear some really phenominal music with some of my closest friends, it was a great way to spend a cold Feb night!

    Trey Not For Non-Phans

by CaptainSafety on 2/21/11State Theatre - Portland

First, I'll say right up front: I'm not a huge Phish Phan. I have a lot of respect for what they've been able to accomplish and think there is some incredible individual musicianship in the group, especially Trey Anastasio. When I heard he was coming to the State with a full band with horns, I thought, well, maybe he's broken free of the mold he's been in for lo these many years. I was looking forward to hearing some of the electric guitar pyrotechnics that always made me stop what I was doing and go, "WOW, great chops!". What we got was Phish lite. For the Phans who sang along with every song in the first set, it was an affirmation of their love of Phish. To a non-fan, he sounded like a competent player in a local pub singing sweet little songs, far from a superstar. The addition of singers/horn players and bass was really nice, but again, it was basic strum style guitar playing. And while the songs may be be strong, Trey's voice is weak, at best. We were disappointed and left before the second half. Maybe it got better, but we weren't willing to stick around to find out. And a word of caution to the State Theater management: Watch your occupancy numbers. The seats were full, the aisles were full, and the bars were full. You're flirtin' with disaster.

    What a treat!

by rguyute on 2/20/11State Theatre - Portland

Amazing! ...and fun! great audience vibes helped get Trey to fully enjoy opening up at the State Theater remarking last time he was there was 1999.."it's good to be back". We were treated to a plethora of phish tunes and rarities (Hey Ya!) acoustically into some funk and then rock n roll. The jamming increased and beat just didn't stop all night. Thanks Trey and crew....what a GREAT show! Come back to Portland anytime. Ps - thanks for sharing the "trivia" on the Lawn boy Album at "The Tree". jam on!

    TAB Chicago

    by thegoob8 on 4/2/10Riviera - Chicago

Amazing Show. Reminds me of when the Jerry Band started to blow the doors off the GD. If TAB had a light show It would be 5 stars and i might never go to another phish show.

Great Show, however the venue was way too small for the crowd! it should have been at the Vic or the Congress.

    Great night

    by Dillon70 on 3/2/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

A friend of mine and his son and I went, it was his sons first show. I had not heard any new Trey since the Cayman Review days. Even though I had been away from his material for quite sometime and the Father and son I went with had not heard hardly any of Trey material. It was amazing for all of us, especially to see us all up and dancing. Classic Tab is amazing and the young trombone player is great and will have a long career ahead of her and Jennifer is great as well and the rest of the TAB band.

Trey Anastasio & Classic TAB at the Ryman!

by Waver on 3/1/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Great show and great venue. My first time at the Ryman and loved it. Small, intiimate, and a great place to see a show. Highly recommend it for anyone in the Nashville area. First time also seeing Trey with Classic TAB. Band was great with a terrific horn section not to mention a hot rhythm section. Trey's jamming is always amazing.

Trey put on an amazing show!

    by HoneyBunny145 on 2/27/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Tray Anastasio and Tab were unbelievable - he was on stage for the entire time just playing as hard as he could. He and his band obviously enjoyed being at The Ryman in Nashville - the crowd was on its feet, dancing the entire time! There is not a bad seat in the house.

    He's Back!!!

by BluvT on 2/26/10Terminal 5 - New York

Well I have to admit I went in a little hesitant - the last time I saw just Trey was in 01' and it was very imperfect. The songs were new, the band was new BUT ...this time they got it right! Everyone was on point - Trey busted out an accoustic and ripped some classic Phish food ie. Harry Hood, Chalkdust, Sample and a few others. Sultans of Swing cover was MONEY!!!! Wish they played two nights and will see em' again when they come back through!!!!!
