TORO Y MOI IN CONCERT:

Chillwave producer extraordinaire Toro y Moi, aka Chazwick Bradley Bundick, transforms every venue he plays into a funky wonderland with his slick, dance-worthy productions. Whether he’s playing guitar or keyboards, Bundick's swirling effects and highly rhytmic productions envelope audiences in an immersive, undeniable groove. His gliding falsetto provides a boyish innocence to his earnestly crafted songs, and even though his lyrics cover personal topics like heartbreak and remorse, he keeps the vibe upbeat by anchoring each song in pumping beats and groove-heavy flourishes. Toro y Moi. On tour in support of his 2015 album What For?, Toro y Moi will bring his laid-back, dance-friendly brand of atmospheric electro-funk to fans across the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Chazwick Bradley Bundick was born in 1986 in Columbia, SC, where he formed the indie rock band The Heist and The Accomplice while in high school. After graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2009, he quickly signed to Carpark Records and released Toro y Moi’s 2010 debut album Causers of This. The immaculately produced record earned rave reviews and generated enough buzz to land him opening spots for in-demand artists like Caribou and Phoenix. The following year he released his sophomore album Underneath the Pine, a stellar release that showcased his commitment to live instrumentation. On his third album, 2013’s Anything in Return, Toro y Moi combined the sample-heavy approach of his first record with the live feel of his second effort, and the new direction paid off. The album represented a major breakthrough for him, earning massive praise and leading his first headlining tour and an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Toro y Moi's 2015 album What For? and accompanying tour dates have fans excited to catch Bundick's funky rhythms and masterful sonic textures in concert.

Chaz was extremely entertaining. with this being my second time seeing him, I noticed a huge improvement from the previous show this past summer. The Newport had beautiful acoustics, and the lights were very impressive. there was positive energy amongst the audience and I danced my ass off all night. not to mention it was 5 minutes from where I live. overall, a wonderful experience :-)

Toro Y Moi w/The Sea and Cake

by MEMPHIS73 on 10/28/13House of Blues Boston - Boston

This is my third concert at The House of Blues. I thoroughly enjoy seeing shows here and this one did not disappoint. Although the crowd was sparse The sea and Cake delivered a solid 45 min opening set. Highlights for me were Weekend, Exact to Me , and Leeora which they tweaked out to end the set. Toro Y Moi announced their presence with authority by delving into Harm in Change and absolutely mesmerized the audience. I had seen him two years prior but this show was much more powerful. Solid 85 min set to boot!

Most fun, danceable concert i've been to in 2013

by jazzfreak11 on 10/28/13House of Blues - Boston

Toro y Moi came through Boston early 2013 and played Paradise, a mid-sized venue, and it was a great show. So good, in fact, that I decided to see them AGAIN when they came to House of Blues in October! Since their show a few months ago, they've added a second synth player (which is sick, cause now Chaz can dance and be more active with the crowd), re-arranged some of the songs (more guitar now and it's FUNKY), and generally gotten even awesomer. It was a FANTASTIC show and was honestly the most danceable (and i mean dancing, not grinding or jumping) show I've been to. A ton of fun, amazing job from Chaz and the band.

    Muchas Gracias, Toro Y Moi

by Warmachine on 10/27/13Terminal 5 - New York

It's not an easy thing to show well at Terminal 5, especially when you've got a specific sound. These guys totally nailed it; great energy, great set list, and the acoustics didn't matter a bit. I would definitely recommend this show to others.

    Sea and Cake

by bonassus on 10/26/13Terminal 5 - New York

Sea and Cake was great! They played new songs. The sound at terminal 5 was good. It was a great performance. Toro Y Moi is not very impressive. It's was funky music that was just not funky. Very bland music. at times Three synths at a time. Pretty lame. The show was worth it to see Sea and Cake.

    TORO OMG.

by LESLEG on 10/16/13House of Blues - Dallas

Toro Y Moi did not disappoint for real. I have been listening to him for only like two years, but I was stoked for this show. It was so groovy. I came in excited and left feeling so chill. Chaz did "New Beat" for the encore song which was so perfect. Danced the whole time! After the show, there wasn't a huge crowd around back so my friends and I waited to get autographs and pictures with him. Chaz was so personal which each person. He asked me about school and my major. Just such a really cool guy. Can't wait til he's back in Dallas! :)

    Best yet

by Jayy7 on 3/7/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Best concert, I left in amazement. I lierally almost cried when he did his encore. His cute smirk and humbleness (is that a word?) anyway melted me.

    Great show

by JillianCA on 3/5/13The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

OK - I was probably the oldest person there, for sure, so take my review for what it's worth. My daughter invited me to this show with her. Had balcony seating which was nice - would not have liked to stand in line outside and then stand up for hours below watching the show. She was excited because several celebrities were ushered in right before Toro y Moi came on stage, and sat right in front of us. To me Dog Bite sounded like a bad neighborhood garage band - singer pretty monotone - should not have been on the bill at all or only should have sung maybe 2 songs. Sinkane was pretty awesome - love the kind of tribal beat they had going in several numbers, though ultimately they too could have played fewer songs as the main attraction was Toro y Moi whose arrival on stage seemed to take forever and end quickly. I believe Chaz B. of Toro y Moi has serious star potential - he sounds kind of like a new era electronica Michael Franks. A bit monotone too at times but I think in his case that will improve in time (my daughter tells me that's the style...but hey, I'm into music of all types, especially World music and anything with a great beat. Monotone is monotone, and Chaz B. is way too talented to not improve upon that). Long night (we got there at 7:15 to stand in line outside and the show ended after midnight). Could have started earlier especially on a work/school night. Cool theatre - weird mural on walls, though. All in all great show, we had lots of fun, and it was a flashback to my younger days in Hollywood longer ago than most of the audience has been alive. I got to be a fly on the wall and that was cool. Great crowd. Glad to know the new generation has it going on.

    good times

by grntkno on 2/22/13Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

We had a blast at the Toro y Moi/Sinkane show. It was a crowded show that was well received by the crowd. I thought it was an eye opening show in a lot of respects as a multiple genre musician and music lover. I think both of these bands are on the cutting edge sound-wise and they played their asses off to boot. One of the members of Sinkane at one point was absolutely riveted to the keyboard while singing and fretting the guitar at an intense pace. I think we were in awe. Meanwhile, the drummer was really grooving on some creatively global beats. The highlight was definitely Toro y Moi and between the meticulous catchiness of the grooves, vast sound, and the corresponding light scheming, it was all really a positive and inspiring occasion that I loved and will definitely hold high on my list of favs.

    Toro Y Moi Killed It!

by JustCertified on 2/22/13Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

This was an awesome show! My group only showed up in time for the 2nd opening act, but they were also great. Toro Y Moi kept the party going though, the lighting also vibed with the music. Great show all around.
