Few singers in recent decades have demonstrated the widespread appeal and staying power of Toni Braxton, the smoky-voiced alto who can deftly move from R&B to pop to Broadway with impressive ease. Toni first mesmerized fans in the ‘90s with heartrending radio hits like “Breath Again” and “Unbreak My Heart,” both would undoubtedly be lead contenders for best break-up song of the decade. She would continue to rule the ‘90s, with fans worldwide clamoring for tickets to watch her perform tunes like “Another Sad Love Song,” “You Mean the World to Me” and “You’re Makin’ Me High,” with her signature sultry voice and seductive moves. In 1998, she made a history-making career move by playing the part of Belle in Disney’s Beauty and The Beast on Broadway – the first African American woman to play the role. Having proven her acting chops and vocal versatility on the stage, she went on to star in another Broadway production – Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida . She continues to perform live, singing fan favorites like “Spanish Guitar,” “Yesterday,” “I Heart You,” and “Hurt You” along with her winning ‘90s repertoire. Toni cites Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Anita Baker as influences, while a newer generation of fans have compared her to artists like Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, and Fantasia Barrino.
The concert was really good I’m so happy that me and my friend went
Started a little shaky in the beginning but pulled though during the end, I'd would have like more singing then talking but over all the show was good, also i was under the impression that swv will be there as it said when i purchased my ticket, so that was disappointing 👎
It was my first time attending a concert at the Paramount. The sound was not the greatest and at one point during the show the microphones stopped working and Toni could not be heard. I have seen Toni at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga and that venue was amazing and the sound was impeccable.
Tony came out like the diva she is! Rising from the stage floor, looked at us and said what's up Oakland? I was happy to see her finally! My last few attempts didn't go well because of her illness, but what a show we got, she sounds awesome and was very nice too, I loved the show.
My bucket list check off was to see Toni and she did not disappoint. Hopefully I can see her again in concert
I loved the gift bag for purchasing a VIP ticket... Keep the entertainment coming...Love the Paramount Theatre!
We felt that she did not perform enough and left her fans hanging. She has too many hits for a 50 minute show, especially when half of that time was spent bringing people on stage instead of performing.
I wish Toni incorporated less audience participation and did more singing. She invited guests on stage from the audience four times. It also seemed she held back on certain songs. Perhaps she needed to preserve energy so as not to exacerbate her health condition. Nevertheless I adore Toni and was thrilled to see her live.
Toni gave a good performance. I thought that there was going to be someone else performing as well. Benefit vs. Price? The comedian had a very good set.
The staff was very attentive and very friendly, they made the experience more enjoyable!
Toni Braxton was absolutely amazing!!! Looking forward to her next concert
I've been a Toni fan since her 1st album. She looked fabulous and the setting was nice. However, she did not sing a song in it's entirety except for her newest song and she did a lot talking throughout the songs. I paid to listen to Toni sing not to listen to myself and other ppl in the audience sing. Toni's voice is still amazing, but we barely got a chance to hear it!! I'm upset that I traveled via plane to ultimately be left in a state of shock and perplexed as to why the moment came and left so quickly. This was my first time seeing Toni live and it may be my last time, sad to say!
We thought SWV was going to be the opening act. Toni performed for about 1hr 20min. Felt like the concert was too short after a drive from Bay Area to Reno.
It was my first time ever seeing Toni but I've always loved her music. So glad that I had a chance to see her, I wish I had done it sooner. I love how she was very personable with the audience as if they were her personal family. She invited people to sing with her on stage, she serenaded a couple on stage, even did the Electric Slide on stage, and she even went out on the floor with the audience and sang. I love her and will definitely see her again. But next time I'm going to spend a little more so I can see her up close.
Wow!! Stunning and incredible!!! Toni is a must see!
"For As Long As I Live" ,I will remember this performance... first of all she look stunning sexy...she made me feel so comfortable ( as if I was invited to a family event)...she was so real & warm, the way she invited people from the audience to sing with her on stage... the way she walked up the isle and sat on the steps 3' away from me taking selfies with people in the audience while she was singing...I loved her before the show, but after that amazing experience I even love her more...People like you remind me that God is good & that there are good people in this world...may God be with you "For As Long As We Live"
We really like Toni Braxton’s music and feel she has been a great artist. However, the show was subpar. The sound was terrible, the music was too loud and her voice couldn’t be distinguished. It actually was uncomfortable and irritated our ears. On the songs that we could understand, Toni’s voice was in and out and choppy sounding. She performed for only 45 minutes but in this case that was a blessing because it was pretty bad. We probably would have left anyway. We wish all the best for Toni but if she can no longer perform at a level that is entertaining, she should retire and stop short changing her fans.
Ok maybe im a little used to Las Vegas show that’s longer - this ones a little short, might be because she had a cold. But the worse she didn’t sing her popular songs, I could only relate to almost half of the song list, the rest of the songs I have no idea where that song from, but it’s all good I’m a fan otherwise
She was good, I know she and the band had colds but the show was short. No opening act and she was on an hour. The band did kick it. They are very good.
There should have been a DJ or small opening act. The crowd was not warm and it was reflected in Toni's performance. Midway through I felt like I was at a concert. She's a legend and I'm happy I saw her. Definitely not work the price I paid for the tickets though.
