About

Hailed as "one of the best acoustic guitarists in the world" by NPR's World Cafe, Tommy Emmanuel got his start at the age of six, when he first began touring his native Australia with his family's band. As a teenager, he earned a reputation as a highly sought after sideman and session player, and by his early twenties, Emmanuel was playing on chart-topping hits and performing with acts like Air Supply and Men at Work. Inspired in part by his hero, Chet Atkins (who would later become a friend, mentor, and collaborator), Emmanuel stepped out on his own as a solo artist in 1979, releasing the first in a string of acclaimed instrumental albums that would make him an unlikely celebrity in his home country and beyond. In the decades that followed, he would go on to headline everywhere from the Sydney Opera House to Carnegie Hall; tour with luminaries like Eric Clapton and John Denver; win a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement; perform for a televised audience of more than two billion at the Sydney Olympics; and collaborate with a who's who of fellow guitar greats, including Les Paul, Mark Knopfler, Joe Walsh, Richard Thompson, Jason Isbell, and Billy Strings.

Recorded in just four days, Emmanuel's latest album, Living In The Light, stands as the most daring--and most rewarding--collection in the globetrotting fingerpicker's remarkable catalog, fusing his pop, jazz, classical, and roots influences into a virtuosic masterwork as exhilarating as it is intimate.

The evening was totally awesome! Tommy Emmanuel gave a show that was such an experience. His mastery of the guitar is superb! So pleased I was able to attend in person to experience and witness firsthand his passion!

  • Top notch. A master

An incredible show. Blew my socks off. From the funkiest, jazziest and most masterful finger picking to the most beautiful song I've ever heard played on guitar. Tommy Emmanuel plays with such movement and energy that you can't help but to feel a great amount of joy being there.

Absolutely mind blowing performance. Don't miss seeing Tommy Emmanuel.

  • Fabulous!

Chris Jacobs, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, and Tommy Emmanuel were fantastic! This show was attended by all different age groups, and everyone seemed to enjoy it! I’ve seen Larry & Teresa many times before and they are always fabulous, first time seeing Chris and Tommy and I was quite impressed.

  • Masterful performance full of delight

by Clarknj on 5/22/24Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Tommy Emmanuel show was fantastic. Great entertainer and showman. Roxian was in good location but near show time they turned off air conditioning and it was very stuffy. Disappointing.

  • Incredible live show!

    by Pat S. on 5/22/24Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of Tommy Emmanuel for decades and watched his videos hundreds of times. Nothing does justice to how much energy he puts out at his live shows. This show was everything I hoped for. He played pieces new and old. The sound was great and his lighting show working in tandem with his playing was one of the best I've ever seen. We bought the full VIP package for this show - parking, coat check, meet and greet and autographs and front row seats. It was 100% worth every penny. Getting to meet him was amazing. He took the time to go through all the VIPs, made jokes, signed autographs, he signed my guitar, took selfies, joking and mugging the whole time. On stage he knows how to connect with the audience. He talked about his inspirations, his ups and downs and his career. He even took about 5-6 minutes to explain his style with the thumb pick. He put out an amazing amount of energy. Tommy inspires me to keep working on my own guitar playing. I will probably never get to his level, but his enouraging, engaging and all out fun show will inspire me for a long time to come. If you've never seen him - go see him. You won't be disappointed.

  • It will change your life!

by WAB on 5/22/24Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was fantastic. Tommy Emmanuel came with his top talents and showmanship. Looking forward to next time he comes through. He shared the stage with Cris Jacobs who had unbelievable flatpicking skills and a powerful voice. My only comment would be that we could not understand the lyrics Cris was singing. We wanted to know them and the song story he was telling.

  • Brilliant Performance

by Suk on 5/22/24Roxian Theatre - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

The venue is small and intimate. Parking is a bit of a challenge. The railings in front of each section obscures the view of the stage. We moved to open seats further back to get an unobstructed view of the stage. The sound quality was very good. Tommy was brilliant. His virtuosity and energy border on the outrageous. We have seen many great performers; however, we have never come away so completely awestruck. If you have never heard Tommy live, I highly recommend it (especially if you are a guitar player). You will either be really inspired or want to burn your instrument. The opening act was excellent. We had never heard of him. The surprise guest Gareth was well a surprise and a revelation as well. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

  • amazing show!!

Tommy remembered my daughters name from the meet and greet and said hi during the show. This young lady has a new favorite artist now. Thank you

  • Tommy Emmanuel was absolutely amazing!

by Kirk on 5/21/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Tommy Emmanuel is a consummate guitarist. He’s lightening fast and blends percussion with his playing. He also engages his audience with his very witty repartee. We especially liked his lesson on how he plays 3 or 4 parts of a song….by himself, like a magician! M. J. W.

  • Great Show

by NYCMeema on 5/21/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

As always, Tommy Emmanuel puts on a great show. The two opening acts were also good. I had seats in the balcony which offers a good view of the stage. I would definitely come back for shows in the future!

  • As good as it gets

by steiny on 5/21/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Had not seen Tommy before which turns out to be my loss. He was everything as advertised and more. He makes the guitar sing. He was extremely personal and looked as if he had as much fun as we did. The seats at the capital need to be replaced as real uncomfortable. But as far as Tommy is concerned ,he was awesome!!!

  • Great!

by BobM on 5/21/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Tommy gave his usual high-energy, wonderfully musical show, with a dash of humor here and there. He is a passionate musician in complete control of his instrument. He sings a little more than he used to, and it adds to the variety of his show. What I especially like is how he invites his opening acts back at the end of the show to play several more songs. He loves the interaction with different musicians, and it's a real treat to see combinations of musicians performing together that you might not ever again have the chance to see.

  • The world's greatest

by AE on 5/21/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 5 out of 5

Tommy Emmanuel is arguably the world’s greatest guitarist (count me among those that agree) but he is also a showman extraordinaire. I expected magical musicianship but was happily surprised by Tommy’s, humor, warmth, percussion chops-wow!, and wonderful overall performance. Aside from one stinker, my girlfriend has always trusted my judgement in choosing concerts. She came to this show with no expectations and left an enthusiastic fan. Thank you Tommy Emmanuel!

  • Spectacular evening

Mr Emmanuel is dazzling, a must if you have never seen him live !

  • Magic fingers

by Wildjohn on 3/15/24Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed Tommy Emmanuel. My wife and I commented that his brain must be different than everybody else. The neuro- muscular coordination between his brain and fingers has to be amazing to play the way he does.

  • Awesome concert

by ATR on 3/14/24House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Tommy is the best guitarist around. Tommy Emmanuel is a once-in-a-life-time must see in person for an unforgettable experience. Great showmanship and he has a great sense of humor. What a delight to see him in person. I would see him again without a doubt.

  • great and then some!

by EG on 3/13/24House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Wanted to see Tommy for years and was surprised he was rolling through SoCal at the House of Blues Anaheim. The seats were cramped like Group 10 on a Southwest flight, but the concert was great! Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes opened and did a great 50min set, then Tommy for about an hour, then all three to round out the evening. We're really impressed with Hensley, too, and will be watching for his return to the region.

  • Tommy The Great

by Johnnieg on 3/13/24House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I've been fortunate enough to have seen Tommy twice at the House of Blues. Not only is he the best guitarist on the planet but he loves to greet his fans and communicate with his audience.
