Todd Snider is a Premier Singer Songwriter, But

by MileHighMusic on 1/10/10Bluebird Theater - Denver

that, unfortunately was not what this concert was about. I've listened to Todd Snider's music a lot, but this was my first chance to see him live. From all that I've heard, his concerts showcase his songwriting, wit, and hilarious banter. HIs acoustic playing allowing all of those to shine. This night, the opening band stayed on stage and play through all but a couple of songs. They were loud which a) overpowered the strengths as mentioned above, and b) forced a move away from his most original and genius material to psuedo-rock priented stuff and covers. I didn't go to see one of the best lyricists in the business do covers. It was a total dissapointment for me; friends that are fans left; friends unfamiliar with his work that we had invited to see the show, left with a total misperception. I was embarrassed for having invited them. Realize that this is one person's opinion. In genera,l the crowd enjoyed the show. As a fan of his work, however, I felt that I did not get to see Todd Snider, and that was a huge disappoiintment after much anticipation. I fully believe that a performer can do what erver he/she wants to do. But it should be presented as such. The website and advertisings for the show billed only "Todd Snider", not "Todd Snider doing overplayed covers with a local band".

Todd Snider w/Great American Taxi rocked!!!!!

by Enscoe on 1/10/10Bluebird Theater - Denver

Great American Taxi played first and jammed like nobody's business. They were awesome. They had a washboard player named Bonnie Paige play with them and it took everything to a whole new level. Todd came out and man what a show. I would recommend this concert to anybody. His quirky sense of humor is unbelievable. I love how all of his songs come from true stories that he has experienced...what a great song writer. To end it all the mandolin player from Yonder Mountain String Band came out and played and man what a talented guy...

Todd Snider is an entertaining trip.

by yuppylove on 12/14/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

My husband and I are probably not typical Todd Snider fans, although we have several CD's. Todd is so entertaining and kind of a cross between hiippy genious and derelict savant. Hard to describe him. He just seems to have a humble, little boy quality that is completely endearing, yet if you listen to the lyrics and occasional verbal rants, they are chock full of witty satire, political commnetary and downright awe. How does he come up with this stuff??? Loved him.

    Snider kicks @$$!!!!

by Garila on 12/13/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Todd Snider is one of the best songwriters of our time. He has a strong voice and the wisdom of a Native American medicine man. He's an amazing storyteller, did a handful of requests. Amazing entertainer. Nuff said.

    Great American Songwriter

by PT77 on 12/13/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

After 15 years of buying his albums, I finally got a chance to see Todd Snider live. I was not disappointed. His songs are short stories told with great musical hooks and plenty of humor. His banter with the audience between songs was also very entertaining.

    Great show!!

by OthrBrother on 12/13/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

The opening act, Ashleigh Flynn I believe, was worth the price of admission alone. And then Todd Snider comes out, barefoot and full of stories to tell. The dude just did what he does and what he does is some of the best songwritting I've ever heard. If you haven't checked this guy out before then do yourself a favor and pick up a CD or go see him live (live is always better). Great venue, great show, great vibe. I left with a huge smile and a little less weight on my shoulders. Thank You.

Loved the entire show. I have seen Todd Snider several times. Bruce Robison and REK were amazing as well. I attended several concerts at Shryock when I was a student. Great venue with amazing sound.

    Played their hearts out

by ToddSniderFan on 11/18/09Shank Hall - Milwaukee

Todd Snider and Great American Taxi totally rocked. Lots of new stuff, some of the best of the old, 2 encores, the last a medley of "Fortunate Son" and "Sympathy for the Devil" played to the tune of "Heartbreaker" (Stones). I will not pass up any opportunity to see Todd Snider again.

Show was great. The great american taxi band was awesome. Expected him to do a bit more storytelling. A little dissapointed to not hear "Luchenbach" / "Ms. Virgie song since that is one of our all time favorites but all in all very good show. Did not let us down.

Todd was awesome as usual. We arrived late and did not see the opening band. They did stand in with Todd for most of his set and were very good. The Park West is still one of my favorite places in Chicago to see live music.

Todd oozed joyous sorrow (or sorrowful joy)

by Tmite on 11/15/09Shank Hall - Milwaukee

Charismatic, folksy, infectious. What a wonderful performer; inspired lyrics; 100% effort. Too bad they allow smoking at Shank Hall, though.

    Excellent show

by tgrady on 11/15/09Shank Hall - Milwaukee

Todd and Co. put on a really nice show at the sold out Shank Hall. Too bad is was SRO only and we had to leave before the end because our friends got tired standing for several hours. Anyway, we didn't miss much and everyone had a fun time. This was my first Snider show and will definately not be the last. He played a great deal of his newer material and some of his fun stuff like Beer Run.

    extremely interesting and fun show

by annabob on 11/7/09Shryock Auditorium - Carbondale

Loved Robert Keen and Bruce Robinson. Made great connection with their rather rowdy audience. Music great and running commentary both insightful and hilarious. Todd Snider stole the show IMO and I would love to see him again. Kind of a country/folk cross and the audience just loved him. The second half of the show they were all on stage and took turns doing their songs with the other artists playing backup. Keen during this part of the show played mandolin for both Robinson and Snider. Awesome!

Nice to be in such an intimate setting.

by StarryEyedAstrologer on 10/9/09The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

It was all great. Two or three more songs would have made it greater. Would like to have had an option to purchase more of his albums.
