TOADIES IN CONCERT:

Alt-rock icons the Toadies are back on the road, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 1994 debut album Rubberneck with a series of grungy, distortion-laden shows. Performing the classic album front to back alongside hits from their other releases, the Toadies take the stage with the same muscular sound that propelled them to fame back in the '90s, and audiences wouldn't have it any other way. From "Possum Kingdom" to "Doll Skin," fans can expect to hear all their favorites as the band hits the road for their Rubberneck 20th Anniversary Tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Texas in 1989, the Toadies toiled in relative obscurity before skyrocketing to fame with their seminal 1994 debut LP Rubberneck. The album spawned six singles including the wildly successful tracks "Possum Kingdom" and "Away," earning platinum certification by the RIAA and landing the band on tour with a number of big-name acts including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bush. After y ears of extensive touring, the band released their highly anticipated sophomore LP Hell Below/Stars Above in 2001,but went on hiatus after the album failed to gain traction. Following a five-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2006 and they've been at it ever since, treating fans to another round of shows on their Rubberneck 20th Anniversary Tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"20 years later and they never fail to impress. The show was beyond unbelievable!"

"Toadies proved that they still rock!! Not only did they sound great live, but they put on a stellar show. Playing the oldies (which had the whole crowd singing) and showcasing the new stuff."

"After playing the entire Rubberneck album to open their show, they then proceeded on to playing a variety of their best songs from their other albums... The band fed off of the energy of the crowd and vice versa."

    It was OK

    by Amos123 on 7/14/09Black Cat - Washington

Backyard Tire Fire was the best. They opened. The 2nd band was really good as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the toadies performance.

    Toadies

    by Rubbish386 on 7/13/09Magic Stick - Detroit

This show, in a nut-shell, was amazing! Smaller venue made it more the band more accessable to the fans, song choices were not only well pieced together but preformed better than if I'd thought of it myself. The energy from the band poured over the crowd and they were happy to give it right back. Pure syncronus energy, would reccommend it to anyone who is a fan of rock/grunge/metal.

Enjoyed by hardcore fans, rest of us not so much

by chesshunter on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

The Toadies were okay, and the fans around us were going wild. Singing along, dancing, stabbing the air with the fists. But my wife and I left before it was over. The music all sounded the same. The Black Cat is a good place to see live music, though. First time we had been there. Nice and intimate, with acoustics that made my ears ring.

    It's not the band's fault

by fatmongo on 7/13/09Roxy - Boston

Awesome awesome awesome show. The Toadies always kick ass. Horrible horrible horrible venue. Never see a concert at the Roxy! They hate the bands and force them off stage by 10pm so they can turn into a nightclub. Never again, Roxy.

    Fantastic show!

    by Sunspot01 on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

Fantastic, they played a great variety of material. Mostly music from Rubberneck and Feeler, with some of the latter two albums as well. Pretty much a greatest hits show, which is good with me. GREAT SHOW, even the two opening acts The Willowz and Backyard Tire Fire weren't half bad either!

    Toadies Freaking ROCK!!!

    by clerks37 on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

The Toadies show in Washington, DC was one of the best shows I have ever attended. I have seen the Toadies 3 times since they got back together and every show has had its own personality. I rate this one as the best. This was the perfect venue for the Toadies. The venue was upstairs, and had plenty of room to move around, and two big bars to get the drinking on. The acoustics were amazing. I had never been to the Black Cat, but would recommend seeing any good rock concert there. As for the Toadies. They have not missed a beat since the starting days back in the 90s. If anything their break has made them even better. If you ever get the chance to see the Toadies please do. They are a wonderful group of guys and put on a great show. Every show I have seen them at they have hung around afterwords to mingle with the fans. You can't say that for most bands out there. Thanks to the Toadies!!! Clerks37

by JaSamonikla on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

The venue was perfect for this concert. Nice and small but enough room for a decent crowd. They played a bunch of old favorites plus a bunch of new songs. The acoustics were great and the energy was fantastic. Overall, fantastic concert.

    Toadies in DC

by sirencloak on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

I'm a bigtime Toadies fan. On hearing their Live record, I knew I had to see them. This was my first time seeing them. They were spot on. Songs were played and sung perfectly. Todd's voice was great. It seemed effortless to him to scream and sing. I expected a heavier and more rockin' show. They are more of a groove band now than a sweaty balls out rock band. They sound so heavy and intense on the live record. Their transitions and dynamics were great; obviously seasoned veterans of the stage together. I'd recommend the show to any fan of the band.

    Toadies rock!!!! Station 4 doesn't!!!

by BillyBooze on 7/13/09Station 4 - Saint Paul

This was the second Toadies show here since they got back together, and it was quite awesome once again. These guys bring it every time, and their followers always rise to the occasion. It's a love fest between Toadies and hardcore Toadies fans. The first show was jam-packed at Station 4, but this show was much more comfortable. Station 4 is not properly equipped for such crowds, but at least their urinals didn't overflow this time. It's a bit perplexing why Toadies chose to come back to this C-league venue after seeing what it was like the first time. I dunno, maybe they are friends with the owners or something. Don't get me wrong- Station 4 has its place in the MN music scene, but I want to see my favorite national bands at a better venue. Maybe it's the best they could do, but I doubt it - I saw Burden Brothers at Cabooze twice... they have the right connections to play a better joint. Maybe it was a scheduling issue. All that said - I'd go again in a second!

    Absolutely great

    by nearside81 on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

This was one the best concerts I've ever been to. The Toadies had the crowd right in the palm of their hand the entire time and a lot of that had to do with the fact that the venue wasn't cavernous and was very intimate. Great show with great music and I loved every second of it.

    Great Venue, Amazing Band

by bostonate on 7/13/09Roxy - Boston

I went to see The Toadies primarily cause I love their music and for nostalgic reasons. I'd never had the chance to see them live back when they were first big, so it was great to get the opportunity to do so now. I didn't have much for expectations going in, not because I didn't think they'd be great, I just didn't know how well they'd be after being at it for so long. Well, they certainly well exceeded any expectations I would've had. The vocals were spot on - you'd think they'd just recorded Rubberneck with how close to the record the vocals were; truly impressive. The band also had a lot of energy, which was great. Meeting the band after was a thrill as well.

    Epic show.

by Kryptor on 7/13/09Black Cat - Washington

One of the Best shows I've gone to in a very long time. Back Yard Tire Fire& The Willowz opened both put on good shows, but nothing will compare to getting to see the Toadies again! They played every song I could have wanted to hear, played along with the audiences antics and generally Rocked.

Toadies Rocked It Like It Was 1994

by AngryChad on 7/12/09Magic Stick - Detroit

Toadies know how to rock but they're not cocky about it. They're just there to have a good time and help everyone else do the same. You won't be disappointed. They're even better now than when I saw them in '94.

    Toadies rock it hard!

by signmomma on 7/12/09Station 4 - Saint Paul

The Toadies show was absolutely amazing! They rocked it hard as always. My husband was seeing them for the first time and he said he would love to see them again and again. We love the Toadies!!!! They gave an awesome show at Station Four, which is a comfortably intimate venue. We'll definitely be going again when they come back.
