Three Dog Night on Tour

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

  • Three Dog Night can still rock the house!

by TDNFAN on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

Three Dog Night is still worth seeing...they play most of the classics except Eli's coming which should have been on the list. Our show started late and ended with total play time less than an hour and one half so it left the fans wanting more. What we did hear was great though. Check them out!

A day at the fair made complete with Three Dog Night's perfomance .....taken back to the earier days of our youth ...many of us "boomers" needed to go back and remember the carefree days of summer. And rocking and rolling with Three Dog was just the escape we needed to let go...re group and get ready for another week of mid-life living.. THANKS....I NEEDED THAT!

  • 3 Dog Night Better Than Anticipated

by Congaman on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

For a band that was one of the most popular and top selling from the late 60's early 70's era, their popularity has faded in the 21st Century with limited airplay and limited consideration as one of the premier super groups of its time. In listening to their concert at the Pacific Amphitheater you quicky began to realize all the hit songs they had and their significant contribution to the music culture during their hayday. I was pleasently surprised how their vocal tone quality have held up for a band that has been performing for over 40 years. We went with a large group of friends and we had a fun and entertaining evening. Only drawback was that Pacific has a early curfew so the concert was rather short. Worth seeing these guys if you haven't in recent years, before they neede a wheelchair.

  • As Good asGold

by dolphy on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

All of their voices were as strong, powerful, and in harmony as the 60's. So MANY MANY hits; I enjoyed them even more than as a fan back then. Their "21st Century" act was hilariously fantastic.

  • 3 Dog Night Still has it!

by ToniK on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

I am actually an 80's rocker chick-but hey I am always up for some good music, right? 3 Dog Night actually was surprisingly good. You tend to forget how many great songs they have actually made! I especially loved the song they turned into a rap-that guy can rap-who knew? Anyway, great show-great songs!!!

  • Three Dog Night was great after all these years!

by heidadyda on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

We were surprised to see the seating full, since other concerts of the same era were not packed out. It was full, they brought to crowd to their feet so many times, and they performed so well. We LOVED it!!

  • 3 Dog was outstanding

by Hiker on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

The band started 20 minutes after the scheduled start time and played a little over an hour. They did most of their hits and a few of their favorites that were not hits. A full house showed their appreciation with much applause and standing ovations during a few favorite songs. 3 Dog Night is my favorite oldies band, so with bias I give them a 5 star rating.

  • Three Dog Night Still Kickin' It

by JamboMan on 8/10/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

After 40 years of playing together and almost 35 since they really contributed to American music, Three Dog Night still shows while their little 5 to 6 year slice of Rock Music History is special. Though they continue to solider on without one dog (Chuck Negron), I was still very impressed with their ability to replicate the essential sound and quality of virtually all of the top 40 hits they played. It was also fun to see them pull from the trove of less recognizable tunes like "You Can Leave Your Hat On." They didn't perform Eli's Coming, Try a Little Tenderness, Pieces of April, Til the World Ends or The Show Must Go On, but they packed a lot into the hour and 20 minute session and my wife and I left feeling just a little bit younger and satisfied.

  • Three Dog Night

by beanermac on 7/19/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

The Penn's Peak Venue is phenominal. Easy in and out parking, great food, spectacular scenery. Go early to enjoy the beautiful outdoor balcony. Three Dog Night couldn't be in better form. There was nothing lost in their music or voices. They were personable and seemed to still enjoy performing as much as we enjoyed listening. It great to go to a concert where you can sing every song. Thanks, we will definitely go there again.

    Great venue - Ritz Theater - Ybor City, Florida Three Dog Night presented a energized performance; I have never seen them in person, but after 40 years they are still going strong and their music is ageless. Great crowd;

  • Three Dog Night awesome

by Deeceeko on 7/19/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

Three Dog Night was the FIRST concert I ever saw when I was 13... the opening act was Jose Feliciano - who would have thought after 40 years this band would have me rocking all over again? Penn's Peak is a great venue and the next time TDN comes to town I will be there again... Awesome set and great fun!

  • Greatest Dog Night

by Cman71 on 7/18/09The Ritz Theater - Ybor CityRating: 5 out of 5

They are as good as the old days. Very good show with all the great tunes from yesterday gone. Rap version of Mama Told Me was awesome. Shows they can change with the times and make fun of the new style of music. The setlist was perfect playing all the number ones plus some they thought should have been hits. Dialog with crowd was the best, showed they care and appreciate the fans. The meet and greet after the show was awesome, really getting to talk with the guys. Their voices are not quite as the younger days but they have adapted and sound very good.

  • Three Dog Night concert was too short

by Bevandmatt on 7/18/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 2 out of 5

It took longer to get to the concert than the concert itself. They were late starting and then only played for 1 hour and 20 minutes. We were very disappointed.

  • INCREDIBLE!

by Maybaby on 7/18/09The Ritz Theater - Ybor CityRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was amazing! Show was outstanding. Vocal quality is top notch considering 40 yrs of touring! I would pay as much again to see it!
