  • I hope you get to see Thomas Dolby since we didn’t

by Thomas Dolby didn’t play but you sold me tickets to see him on 7/6/24Arizona Financial Theatre - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

The concert just ended after Thompson Twins who were great. Lights came on and we had to leave. Dolby never played. That was disappointing and it would have been nice to know instead of learning the hard way.

  • Great but missing the headliner

by Kevin M. on 7/6/24Arizona Financial Theatre - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was a last-minute no-show. Apparently some of his bandmates were sick. However he wasn’t sick and for the nearly 5K fans waiting for him, he could have gone out with a piano and played a set. Thankfully 2-3 bands lifted Dolby’s decision to bail. Modern English was unbelievable with Men Without Hats and Thompson Twins right behind helping make the night worthwhile. Wonderful compilation of 80’s alternative music. Could have been a 5-star night…

It was great hearing these old songs and seeing the bands sing them after so many years

  • too long

by Hobbes on 7/3/24YouTube Theater - InglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

8 acts played until after midnight THEN they postponed the start an hour. Should have been only four Dolby was great

  • Great night of fun!

by Stanhh on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Amazed with Men Without Hats many & of the bands. They saved Thomas Dolby for last. He had technical issues & set seemed short but the audience was supportive. Not the whiz bang ending any of us wanted but still a GREAT night!

  • Technical difficulties

by Epasanti on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 3 out of 5

No doubting Dolby’s talent as a keyboardist, and music mixologist. His visual syncs to his tribute to former colleagues David Bowie and Freddie Mercury were touching and poignant. However, technical difficulties stifled the performance. There were several long pauses as he anxiously typed into the numerous laptops surrounding his musical equipment fixing imperfections. I understand part of his appeal is being a “one-man band”, integrating live loops with pre-recorded sound bites and samples together with impeccable visual synchronization, but even the other “one-hit wonders” at the event shared the spotlight with back-up musicians, making their sessions run more smoothly.

  • not worth the $

by AZak on 7/3/24Rating: 3 out of 5

Sound was horrible for the first 2 bands (didn't they do sound checks???). Also big difference between loge and orchestra sound throughout..... Otherwise nice to hear some of the older folks but definitely overpriced and maybe a bit too long.

  • Disappointed

by jeffvw on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 3 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was supposed to be the headliner of the Totally Tubular Festival. I stood for 5 hours through 8 other bands - that were really good for the most part - waiting for Mr. Dolby. He came out on stage like he was lost. He launched into a total of 6 songs/30 minutes. Done. Along the way, there were numerous computer glitches, leaving the audience to stand there and try to keep the excitement going while watching a concert of IT support. Bummer!

  • I had the time of my life!

by cherytwist on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I had the time of our lives! So much fun, such a great time! The Fox Theater was beautiful...we had great seats (first row of the mezzanine), cool air, killer drinks, short bathroom lines and the sound was perfect. Thomas Dolby was fantastic...a one-man act and just super entertaining ending his set with "She blinded me with science". A masterpiece. Also appearing were Modern English, Thompson Twins and Men without Hats. All of these acts were so great, and everyone danced and sang along. This was all just such a good time. I would go again in a heart beat!

  • It was okay

by Ewatso on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 3 out of 5

There were some definite highlights. However, tech issues popped up throughout the show.

  • Technical Problems

by Sean on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 2 out of 5

It goes without saying that the audio/technical issues made for a less than desirable show. For someone that has worked in Live Events for the last 27 years, I have a tolerance for technical issues and how they happen to anyone/anywhere. That being said, it's how you react/recover from them that makes the difference. They should have held doors till they had audio locked in. Consol was not programmed, and didn't have mics when the first band came on stage. Audio was not tuned and was all over the place. PA was unbalanced and never recovered. I'm not sure how the A1 (audio mixer) was provided per band. What I mean by that is, did each band have their own A1 mixing their set, or did some of the bands use the house A1? It was obvious that the A1 was struggling to get a handle on PA/Mics/etc right out of the gate for the Plimsouls. They deserved better than what they were given. Lets also take into consideration that these issues continued throughout the whole show....which was over 5 hours long.

  • Super Fun Evening

by Cutting Edge Guy on 7/3/24Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas Dolby was the weak link. Modern English was the winner, except they should have played "Hands Across The Sea". Men Without Hats was much more fun to watch than I would have expected.

  • Thomas Dolby is a genius.

by RichRousseau on 7/3/24YouTube Theater - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Thomas Dolby is a genius. He proved it again and I was mesmerized by his performance. I was really touched by my tribute to Bowie. I can't wait to see him live again.

  • Poorly Executed "Festival"

by Jon on 7/3/24YouTube Theater - InglewoodRating: 2 out of 5

We had some fun in spite of a terribly conceived and executed 'Festival.' The major issue was the ridiculously long breaks between acts which added at LEAST 1.5 hours to the night. They apparently started early as we entered at the 7:15pm scheduled start, yet missed the first act. I really felt bad for Thomas Dolby, as the late night had droves leaving before he hit the stage at abou 11 15 pm. Clearly, he felt it as he cut the set super short. It was a mistake to have him headline, simply because of his subdued set, but whatever. Shame on whomever is managing this tour. It should have been so much tighter and SO much better.

  • Over all good, not great

by KatKong on 7/2/24Remlinger Farms - CarnationRating: 3 out of 5

Thomas was fine, not the best choice for the headliner tho — kinda brought the crowd down instead of ending on a high. The company that put this tour together did a terrible job. The poor people with STG and the Farm had to deal with so much that was out of their hands. We paid for vip and it was nothing other than a money grab. Feel like we should get that money back from the promoters.

  • Meh.

by Dlaw on 7/2/24Rating: 2 out of 5

Saw the' Totally Tubular festival at Youtube theater was excited to see Tom Bailey and Thomas Dolby for the first time. The opening acts were mostly fine. The theater didn't open their doors until 15 min before the first at was to be on stage. That sucked! The line to get in was ridic! People are trying to cut the line there were so many people. Once in two band had already played which was fine. It was 8 pm. By 11:10 Dolby had not hit the stage. We had to leave before he got there. The concert was already over 4 hours long. THAT'S INSANE! Cut off the first 3 band off the bill and everything would have been on time. This was maybe my 10th 80's type festival but I'm out now. No more. Not worth the trouble anymore. Short sets by the act and delays stink!

  • great memories

by bxboss on 7/2/24YouTube Theater - InglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and myself really enjoyed the performances. So many great memories of our youth. The only thing I would mention on the negative side, was the time in between groups. Will definitely go again if there's a similar lineup

  • Disappointed

by Steve on 7/2/24YouTube Theater - InglewoodRating: 1 out of 5

Long line at entry and missed the first two bands cause event didn’t give enough time for people to enter! Between people cutting in line and poor management from venue!
