The Zombies on Tour

An iconic British band of the 1960s, The Zombies created some of the most adventurous and wondrous pop songs of their era. Hits such as "She's Not There" and "Time of the Season" continue to be rediscovered by new generations of listeners who are just as wowed by these songs' ingenuity and richness as the Zombies' first audiences were.

Since returning to world stages as The Zombies in 2004, cofounders Rod Argent (vocals, keyboards) and Colin Blunstone (vocals) have made the band vital in the present, too. With Argent and Blunstone backed by guitarist Tom Toomey, bassist Soren Koch and drummer Steve Rodford, The Zombies have garnered wide acclaim for their new recordings as well as 40th and 50th anniversary tours for Odessey and Oracle, the group's still-spellbinding 1967 masterpiece.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, The Zombies performed dates with fellow music legend Brian Wilson on the Something Great From '68 tour, which launched at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas in 2019.

The Zombies in Concert

The Zombies' six-decade saga began in 1962, when a group of music-crazed teens in the English town of St. Albans started their own band. After changing their name from The Mustangs and adding bassist and songwriter Chris White, The Zombies' potential became clear. Their first single for Decca in 1964, the plaintive "She's Not There," became a signature song of the British Invasion, reaching No. 2 in the U.S. and selling over one million copies.

In 1967, The Zombies set a new standard for pop with an album that would become as influential and revered as the very best of The Beatles. Odessey and Oracle fully demonstrated the gifts of White and pianist Rod Argent, who crafted beautifully ornate showcases for lead singer Colin Blunstone's voice alongside their own. "Time of the Season" became another major U.S. smash.

The original band split up by the time of the album's release, but White and Argent would soon have more success with their new band Argent. In the 2000s, Argent and Blunstone started a new chapter for The Zombies when they reunited for a series of tours, including a triumphant Odessey and Oracle 40th anniversary tour. New albums such as 2015's Still Got That Hunger are further proof of The Zombies' renewed vitality.

    Much better than expected

by AJPQLZ20 on 3/10/13Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

Playing together now for 50 years. Colins voice was incredible. Rod had excellent vocals, keystrokes and the rest of the band was incredibly tight. The basis started with The Kinks. They played a mixture of new songs and old songs and covered everything you wanted to hear. There new album is incredible. It sounds like it was recorded in 1965. I enjoy seeing a band playing together for 50 years and still looking like they loved every minute onstage. They played 3 songs more than they had planned. The crowd was incredibly enthusiastic. 3 standing ovations during the show. Well deserved and well worth it. Mixed in a little Argent as well.

The Zombies are alive and well.

by Bluebass on 3/10/13Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

Innovative British Invasion band woke up the reserved audience at the Hardrock in Biloxi with a mixture of music from their latest albums and songs from the past. This band is alert with good songs, smart arrangements, crisp instrumentation, and strong singing. No bells and whistles, gimmicky lights, or production. Just 5 people playing and singing with straight ahead rock and roll gear. These guys should be an inspiration to any band, particularly bands charging large ticket prices while using Telecasters as props and cigarette holders, going through the motions. They sing and play as if they enjoy it and are glad they still can. Colin Blunstone's voice is in good form and an effective instrument.

    Zombies-one of the best groups

by BobAC on 3/7/13Molson Canadian Studio @ Hamilton Place - Hamilton

I am a Zombies fan and have attended several shows in recent years. This was the best concert. Colin was in terrific voice. Rod's playing and singing were top notch. Tom Toomey is a fabulous guitarist/musician. Steve Rodford is a very musical, outstanding powerhouse drummer. Jim Rodford holds everything together with his impeccable rhythm on bass and makes the group swing, too.

The Zombies have gotten older but the song remains the same. Close your eyes and they will take you back to the Sixties and beyond.

The Zombies were a rare treat

by Rockviewer on 3/2/13Métropolis - Montreal

It's not often that we get to see authentic British invasion groups as most are either disbanded or their members long retired or passed away. Even though this line-up is not completely original, the two important elements of Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone were in place as well as Jim Rodford, who was instrumental in the founding of the group and played both in Argent with Rod and with the Kinks for some 20 years. The bottom line is that these are real musicians, who have kept up their craft, and are still recording new material. The concert consisted of a mix of original Zombies hits, excerpts from their excellent album Odessey and Oracle, tunes from other projects that Rod and Colin were involved in, and songs from their recent recordings. Three things stand out for me: the quality of the material, the tight harmonies and the excellent sound balance that usually is only achieved by experienced musicians who are really listening to each other while playing. It's a treat to hear Colin Blunstone's voice, especially in the higher register - it's quite amazing that he still has such vocal clarity and strength. And, of course, there's Rod Argent's signature organ playing. The band had excellent support from the rhythm section - Jim Rodford's son, Steve, was on drums and is an accomplished musician in his own right. It struck me that he was able to achieve a drum sound that was very true to the original Zombie recordings.

Incredible Show from an Ageless Band.

    by EM286 on 8/16/12Howard Theatre - Washington

As soon as the Zombies took the stage, and Colin Blunstone's singular voice belted out "I Love You," I knew the show would be something very memorable. Rod Argent's organ sounds remained enthusiastically funky on hits like the well-known "Time of the Season" and "She's Not There," and perfectly dreamlike and nostalgic on "Beechwood Park," one of my very favorites. Wonderful venue at the historic Howard Theatre, as well. An all-around spectacular experience that left me completely satisfied and seemingly floating on a cloud of happiness for the rest of the evening. There is magic in a Zombies show.

    Zombies and Left Banke rock!!!

by OWLandfriends on 8/12/12Howard Theatre - Washington

This was an excellent musical program--took me back to my innocent youth. These folks managed to get better with age and I can't wait to see them again. The venue was nice but a tad croweded for my taste.

    Great show!!

by Melaniesc on 8/12/12Howard Theatre - Washington

Primarily I went as I am a Zombies fan. I could care less about Left Banke. Left Banke was good. I only knew two songs, but they did play fan favorites and had a meet n greet. I thought this was awesome as Rod and Colin do not do this. Colin's voice is phenomenal and while he doesn't interact much, outside of singing, you can tell he loves what he does. He almost seems embarrassed by the attention. There were at least 5 standing ovations. Rod primarily interacts with te audience. They played all the classics, new stuff, songs from Alan Parsons Project and from Argent. It was the same set as the year before, but I don't care. The show is that good. They love performing and it is a great experience. The venue this year was Howard Theatre. Things to know: first come first seated. The seat numbers don't mean a thing. The menu is very limited and kind of pricy. Lastly there was a $10 min per person per set. I was not expecting that and te website doesn't explain either.

    Zombies Rule....Venue Sucks

    by Hoople09 on 8/11/12Howard Theatre - Washington

If you EVER get a chance to see The Zombies...GO CHECK THEM OUT!! Rod Argent is a masterful keyboardist and Colin Blunstone is an AMAZING vocalist especially when you consider the band started 50 years ago. Jim Rodford (original Argent bassist and former Kinks bassist as well) and his son Steve handle the rhythm section and Tom Toomey handles both electric and Spanish acoustic style guitars. But the 5th member is the songs. Zombies hits (She's Not There, Tell Her No & Time Of The Season), Argent hits (Hold Your Head Up & God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You), Colin's hits (What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted, I Don't Believe In Miracles) and the new songs (Breathe Out, Breathe In) are ALL top shelf. There's never a dull moment. The only downside was the venue. It's pretty, but they had us trapped like sardines, there's a $10 minimum and the parking starts at $15. I have tickets for other shows there, but once they are done....I'm out of there for good.

    Zombies end N American Tour......Unforgettably~

by angeljoy1968 on 10/15/11River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

I have seen The Zombies play many live shows, all wonderful, stellar events in themselves. This was BY FAR the best, and it just keeps getting better. Having made the drive from Poulsbo, WA to Richmond B.C., just for this event, cause i KNEW it would not disappoint. The band has a new album out, AND they are celebrating the 5th anniversary of The Zombies beginning in scenic St. Albans back in 1961. Most people who listen to the Zombies nowadays weren't even born when "Time of The Season" and "She's Not There" were hits, but generation after generation have discovered these guys, and finally they are getting their due. There wasn't a bad song on the set, mixing many of the new ones with the classic hits, along with several songs from "Odessey and Oracle", their highly acclaimed album from 1968. This album, although barely mentioned upon its release, has slowly become a soundtrack for many outstanding musicians of today. Besides the shows, the albums they have to sell at the gigs are also a MUST. Please see this band you won't regret it ever! Thanks again guys!

    Zombie Rock

by Furbomber on 9/23/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

I attended the Zombie's show at Showcase Live in Foxboro MA. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the vocals from both Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent. They gave a great performance filled with insights into the band's past. Their sound was ageless. The songs from the new record were great also.

    Stellar evening out

by Zombiesfan on 9/23/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

We got there early and found 5 seats close to the stage. The whole experience of catching the legendary Zombies live was wonderful and it was one of the best live performances I've seen in recent memory. The sound was first-rate and the venue was extremely comfortable. Plus the food was reasonably-priced and delicious. Seeing keyboardist Rod Argent and vocalist Colin Blunstone on stage doing their hits plus worthy new material was truly magical. Couldn't imagine a better night out! Congrats to Showcase Live for hosting such a memorable event.
