Mellen Events and Future Entertainment are proud to announce the return of Liverpool-based indie rockers The Wombats to Australia!
Following on from the enormous success of their chart-topping sophomore release ‘The Wombats Proudly Present... This Modern Glitch', The Wombats are back down under for a run of dates that are sure to electrify audiences nationally!
After a tireless summer touring the biggest European festivals as well as an extensive run of headline shows, The Wombats are now getting ready to celebrate the phenomenal success of their latest album with their biggest Aussie tour to date.
This return will see the British trio step up to perform all of their chart-topping smash hits, including ‘Tokyo (Vampires And Wolves)', ‘Techno Fan', ‘Jump In The Fog', and ‘Let's Dance to Joy Division' at some of Australia's leading concert venues, boasting bigger numbers and production than ever before.
 
Since the band's formation, The Wombats have developed a unique style and built a strong fan base in Australia.
Meeting at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in 2003, Matthew Murphy, Dan Haggis and Norwegian-born Tord Øverland-Knudsen quickly became friends and soon after started to jam together. The Wombats were born!
Their debut album 'Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation', released in 2007 was a phenomenal success. Combined sales of indie dancefloor smashes ‘Kill The Director', ‘Let's Dance To Joy Division' (winner of the 2008 NME Award for Best Dancefloor Filler), ‘Backfire At The Disco' and ‘Moving To New York' reached 300,000! The trio then embarked on a two-year tour, during which Liverpool's biggest exports in a decade played to well over a million people!
The release of ‘...This Modern Glitch' in April 2011 has seen the band take their career to the next level.  The album instantly received widespread critical acclaim and was hailed ‘album of the week' on both triplej and RADAR Radio. It was catapulted all the way to the number 2 position on the ARIA charts, staying in the top 30 since it's release, and is now on it's unyielding way to being certified Gold.
This week also marks the highly anticipated release of the trio's next single set as ‘Our Perfect Disease', a track that will rock Australian fans in all the right ways!
The Wombats are the epitome of fun. They're refreshingly upbeat and humorous, whilst sonically sound at the same time. Cheeky lyrics, slick guitars and classic keys all blend together perfectly on this tongue in cheek, introspective look at today's society.
With so much buzz surrounding ‘... This Modern Glitch' and a live performance that will blow you away, it's little wonder that Liverpool's The Wombats are widely regarded as one of the hottest live dance rock bands in the world today...

    Fantastic show but Oversold Venue

    Both acts were amazing and worth seeing again. The atmosphere for Last Dinosaurs was great as the venue was already full. Although, by the time the Wombats came on, it felt way too crowded. Bars were difficult to access bc thats the only room people had left to stand. It was a safety hazard with people having to stand on and near the stairs as there was no floor space left. Ive been here for several sold out shows and its never been to the point where im worried about safety. The venue really pushed the limits of the venues capacity to take advantage or Lolla.

    Amazing Live!

    Ive seen the Wombats lived 2x already and they never disappoint. They sound even better live than the album. Everytime, they come to my home town, their sound and performance gets better and better.I really recommend anyone who heard of them and their music, to go see them live. You wont regret it.

    Cannot stop singing!

    The energy The Wombats gave to their performance was amazing! I cannot stop singing their songs in my head. It was worth waiting for them to tour the states Will mist certainly see them again! The venue was also amazing with great staff

    Loved the Clubhouse and Wombats at the Buckhead Theatre!!!! Amazing show with great energy! We were able to upgrade our tickets for a top tier experience- it was the first concert for my 13 yo and it was one for the books!!!!

    Felt unreal

    The opening band was surprisingly really good and became instant fans of them. When The Wombats came on it was just me the music and the performance. Nothing else mattered. They were amazing live almost 1 to 1 recorded stuff. I was own away and coulnd not contain myself for that hour and half

    Bag policy

    Even though My bag was suuuuper small ( it was a small “fanny pack”) they told it was big and had to pay extra 10dls for the “invented” cloakroom they had! “New bag policy “ i was there less than a month ago and the same bag was ok. Felt they were just making extra money.

    I love The Wombats. I've seen them the last 3 times they've come to Atlanta since I moved here. They are energetic, and can put on an awesome performance without losing the control and integrity of their vocals, instruments, and just overall sound. I've never been disappointed (as you can see from the fact that I've never missed a show). The venue this time (the Buckhead Theatre) wastn't my favorite, but it is what it is. Looking forward to concert #4. *TBH, I'd still go if it was held there again. I'd just make sure I was there a few hours ahead of time*

    My friend Kimberly told me to go see them. I had no idea who they were. Now they are one of my favorite bands ever!! Amazing live performance. In my top 10 of all time. Their music and lyrics transported me to different realms.

    I love the wombats, I’m so glad I got to see them on their U.S. tour! The opening band, Clubhouse, was real good too. Fast pass was definitely worth it, my friend and I were able to get really good spots right up at the front!

    The Wombats threw down a fun & energetic show. Lots of smiles, singing, dancing and bouncing around. They always deliver the fun - when the band is having as much fun as the audience, it always makes for a killer show. Oh, and they sounded great too 👍🏼😍

    Love the 9:30 venue, arrived early enough to have vax and IDs checked but it was all smooth sailing. The 2 tiers of the venue make it feel a lot less crowded than other venues like Echostage. This and Anthem are my 2 favorites.

    wombats over delivered. sounded amazing! i would love to see them again! they definitely exceeded my expectations. the Fillmore was also a lot nicer than i expected.
