THE WHO IN CONCERT:
Rock ‘n’ roll gods The Who have always stood out from the pack with their wild onstage antics. Known for smashing guitars, swinging microphones around, jumping off amplifiers, and blowing up drum kits, the band has always represented the pinnacle of rebellious rock genius. Their larger-than-life performances are evenly matched by their huge sound, and classics like “My Generation”, “Pinball Wizard”, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” are still played with thunderous force. For The Who Hits 50! Tour, the group is bringing their trademark monolithic grandeur and kinetic energy to stages around the world. Ticket buyers should be ready for an awe-inspiring stage show that lives up to the mythical status these legends so rightly deserve.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in 1964 around Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and (later that year) Keith Moon, The Who have always been on the vanguard of music, art, and culture. With their first single “I Can’t Explain”, the band became a staple of English Mod culture. They also developed a penchant for onstage theatrics such as smashing guitars and destroying drum kits during their sets. The group took their high-concept performances to the next level in 1969 with the release of Tommy, known as the first “rock opera”. Their next album, 1971’s Who’s Next, further established the band with another batch of classic songs like “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, “Behind Blue Eyes”, and “Baba O’Reilly”. The continued to cement their status as rock gods throughout the decade, touring and releasing a steady string of hits. Throughout the '80s, '90s, and '00s The Who continued to deliver riveting live performances to stunned audiences around the world. Despite the passing of several members over the years, Daltrey and Townshend have soldiered on, delivering the critically acclaimed album The Endless Wire in 2006, their first album in 24 years.
At least the 10 th time I’ve seen them since the early 80’s This was the best ever!
Everything about this experience was awesome! These old guys still got it. Golden1 Center was unbelievable. I am in a power wheelchair. They escorted me right to my concert parking spot, and gave me priority to the elevators so that I could get the hell out of everybody's way. Fantastic !!
The last show on The Who's farewell tour. You would have thought it was the first show, considering how much energy Roger and Pete put into it! They played many classics and sounded fantastic. Having a backup orchestra made it that much better!
Second best Who concert I’ve been to aside from Quadrophenia 1998. A nice set mix, wish there could have been a few oldies such as My Generation or Summertime Blues, yet I was not disappointed.
Just loved the show, was surprised at how tight the band still is. Played everything that I wanted to hear. The orchestra was outstanding and their drummer was as good as Moon. Will definitely go see them again and listen to Baba O’ Riley again, to me that was the best song they played.
We have been fans of The Who, but having an orchestra perform with them was exceptional!
Excellent venue, the Dolby Live theatre is an amazing place to se a show. Stay at one of the close casinos and you can walk to the show and back.
The VIP experience of a lounge with drinks didn’t exist. The directions for the VIP table were incorrect. So for this wonderful VIP experience we finally got a Who bag & poster. As The Who says. We won’t get fooled again Concert was awesome
Sound, show, music selection, place; everything was great.
Pete, Roger, Simon and Zack never disappoint. They rocked as expected. Even hired an orchestra to enhance the experience at Park MGM’s Dolby Live….Only one new song. Lots of hits from different decades and a few from rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia. Glad I went. Didn’t want to leave.
Never got to a concert of theirs. Roger and Pete were amazing!
I have been a fan for most of adult life, and have seen The Who multiple times and places. I was at the tour opening show last April in FL. They are always good. But this show was great. I think the sound quality was possibly the best I’ve ever heard. Everything sounded crisp. Pete and Roger were chatty and relaxed. Possibly the last Who show? I hope not, they still sound too good to hang it up just yet. But, 77 and 78. Happy with what I saw, and really enjoyed the show.
Roger, Pete and their entire band give everything they’ve got to provide a terrific show. The additional back up by a full orchestra puts the icing on the cake. It was a magical night of history that literally turns back the clock. And to top it off, they look like they are still having fun after 50 years!
The concert was great! But where I sat and the location of the seats were altogether different! It should also be illegal to be able to buy up tickets and then turn around and gouge the hell out of ticket prices that are already too high.
This was one of the greatest concerts we have ever seen. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend are genuine Rock Legends. The venue is superb. The opening act was okay. The Who played for 2 hours in what is likely their final concert of their distinguished career. It was seeing Rock Gods!
Music was still great after all these years and the orchestra adds even more zest to the show. I would definitely see them again.
I made the pilgrimage from Detroit Rock City, with the expectation that the 5:15 train was shutting down, forever. The seats had max occupancy and the band was not tardy. The Overtures and interludes of Townsends Tommy, bounced off the back walls of Dolby Live and banged the head of the tallest fan up front, NBA HOFer Bill Walton. Roger Daltrey, in fine form, per usual, complimented by the venerable, Zak Starkey, who seemed fatigued from the city the night prior and the finest players in Vegas. The Seeker, chugged along with a punky menace. Giving way to a subdued Won't get fooled again and the always gorgeous Behind blue eyes. The Real Me and 5:15 off Quadraphenia still have that metalish edge. And if Nov 5th, 2022 is the last time an audience hears The Who perform the closers, Love Reign Oe'r Me and Baba ORiley, thanks guys, for maintaining a level of quality that deserved my time and earned my money. Peace.
Amazing concert at an amazing venue. To see these living legends was a bucket list item for me and they did not disappoint. Seeing them at Park MGM where there's no bad seats and an incredible sound system was icing on the cake.
Loved this concert. The casino and venue are awesome because there is no smoking allowed. This made for a great experience for drinks before the show, entering the show and the whole experience of the show. There was plenty of concessions opened so no waiting in line for a drink. The price of the items was very high but that is typical Vegas. Overall this was a great night out. The Who rocked!!
One of the best shows I've ever seen. I've loved The Who since the 60's and this is my 3rd concert. To be backed by an orchestra was unbelievable. So perfect!
