THE TING TINGS IN CONCERT:
After a two-year hiatus, British dance pop duo The Ting Tings reemerged bolder and better than ever in 2014 with their disco-infused third album, Super Critical. They proved they’ve still got it on stage too – their glammed-up sound gets concertgoers on their feet as they deliver funky guitar riffs and dance-worthy beats on songs like "Do It Again" and "Wrong Club". The multi-talented duo alternates between several different instruments -- frontwoman Katie White expertly loops her vocals while bouncing around between the guitar and the cowbell, while Jules De Martino has been known to play the drums and guitar at the same time. For just two people they create a surprisingly colossal sound. Their spunky dance pop and mood-enhancing LED light show never fail to blow ticket buyers away.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Katie White and Jules De Martino formed dance pop outfit The Ting Tings in 2006 in Manchester, England. They started out playing house parties and small clubs before self-releasing the vinyl single "That's Not My Name" in 2007. The track quickly amassed millions of views on their Myspace page, and by the end of the year they had inked a deal with Columbia Records. "That's Not My Name" reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart just as their 2008 follow-up single "Shut Up And Let Me Go" was earning them tons of new fans after being featured in an Apple commercial. Later in 2008 they released their debut album We Started Nothing, which hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2009 they toured extensively as an opening act for Pink and racked up several awards and nominations, including the Ivor Novello Award for Best Album and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The following year they moved to Berlin and spent eight months recording their sophomore album, 2012's Sounds From Nowheresville, which showed off a darker and more electronic side. After taking a couple of years to refocus their sound they moved to Ibiza to record their third album, 2014's Super Critical, which was co-produced by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor. Influenced by pre-EDM nightlife and '70s disco, the record treats fans to danceable, Diana Ross-inspired tracks that are only made better when heard live in concert.
The ting tings show was awsome. The show and lights and the sound were great.
I have only heard the Ting Tings from the cd and i have never seen them before. It was awesome. first off, Not your typical band. Only two of them and they ROCK . Fun, energetic songs. She plays the Guitar and he rocks the drum kit to sequenced tracks. I usually think that playing to recorded tracks sounds lame but they TOTALLY PULLED IT OFF. It was so much fun and we all were loving it.
Very incredible show! Great lighting, Sound, enthusiasm, I love them! They are hot!!
It was my first time at Club Nokia...I really liked it! Great venue, bar wasn't crowded, and that area is full of places to go! Ting Ting's put on a great show. They were fun to listen to and the girl rocks it! I'd see them again : )
well i didnt know what to expect with the tickets i bought but the concert was awesome b/c i was pratically in the front row...they were awesome and so much more than i expected..i would go see them again and i loved club nokia...
I went into the show liking The Ting Tings and left loving them! They sounded great and their energy was amazing. I literally danced the entire time they performed. I would definitely see them again and would encourage other fans to check them out.
The Ting Tings were just amazing! THEY WERE SO COOL!
great performance by an awesome band, one of the very few new alternative bands that's worth seeing live
The Ting Tings are not to be missed live. They are so full of energy and fun!
Given the fact that most of their music is re created live via samples it was really great to see both members of the Ting Tings multi tasking on live instruments. I was also surprised at the level of skill they played at.. They both seemed quite comfortable and had great stage presence. I went to this show not sure what to expect from them live having been sorely disappointed by so many bands in the past that record brilliantly but suck the life out of the room live "switchfoot and kings of leon" The Ting Tings delivered with tons of energy and catchy danceable songs.
they put on a great show! regardless of their encouragement, everyone got up and danced even in their seats.
The Ting Tings were totally awesome. Great energy and the music sounded perfect! A very fun band to watch. My only complaint was that Club Nokia isn't too great of a set up because you have to get there very early to get in the "pit" for general admission. Otherwise, the show was GREAT!
Just shut up and let me dance. They were soooo much fun.
Excellant show, lots of energy, great venue!!!!!!!
The Ting Tings have a GREAT stage presence and they keep the crowd pumped the whole show. Together, the two of them have great chemistry and they flow together very well. I would definitely see them again. The highlight of the show was definitely when they played "That's Not My Name" at the end. GREAT SHOW!
I'm 46 and I enjoy music very much. I have a vast ear for music and enjoy new upcomming styles. I'd heard the Ting Tings one song on KROQ and thought it was catchy and so when I seen the tickets go on sale I decided to give them a try and for the first time I only purchased 1 ticket for myself. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but was in total aw and was pleasured with a beautiful singer who took me for a very enjoyable experience into a newer style of music that was intense, fun and most intruiguing. They were worth every penny.
Ive been following the Ting Tings for awhile now. So glad they came to LA. They brought great energy to the stage. I would see them again for sure!
This was the second time that I've seen the Ting Tings perform. On May 17, hundreds of fans filled the Sonar building, screaming and singing along with the Ting Tings. My sister and I were the first in line. We made "Hello My Name Is:" stickers and gave them out to the people around us in line. We held them up proudly as Katie was performing the song. The whole time I felt like I was at a dance party--flashing lights and music from the Ting Tings. After the concert was over, a group of us stood outside the building waiting impatiently for Katie and Jules to come out. After 2.5 hours, they came out and we got to chat away with them, take pictures, and have them sign our poster. They were so nice and welcoming. I told Katie to tweet more--Twitter. We've got the choice if it all goes wrong...WE WALK.
The Ting Tings were full of energy, and the crowd couldn't help but feel it. Not a still body in the house, the music pounded, the band bounced, and the people danced and sang from start to finish! Don't show up to a Ting Tings show with uncomfortable shoes, because you will want jump around and bust some moves until the end of the encore!
They had great energy and sound fantastic live. I only heard a few of their songs prior to the concert and fell in love with every single one as they performed!
