  • 🌟 A Must-See Masterpiece: The Thorn 🌟

by TMS on 10/24/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

I had the privilege of experiencing The Thorn, and I can honestly say—it was absolutely amazing. From start to finish, the performance was powerful, visually stunning, and deeply moving. The story was easy to follow, yet rich with meaning, making it accessible to audiences of all ages without losing its emotional depth. The props and production design were phenomenal—every detail felt intentional and immersive, drawing us into the heart of the story. But what truly set this performance apart was its message. The Thorn speaks directly to the soul, especially to those who may be questioning their self-worth or struggling to see their value. It’s a reminder of love, sacrifice, and the beauty of redemption. I believe this play would be especially impactful for high school students. It offers not only a compelling theatrical experience but also a message of hope and identity that young people need to hear. If you have the chance to see The Thorn, don’t miss it. It’s more than a performance—it’s an experience that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

  • Good not great

by Davish on 10/23/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 3 out of 5

Show was good, not great. Seat selections were extremely misleading. Ticket prices reasonable. Event billed as comparable to Cirque was absolutely a joke. Idiotic and loud Bible freak a few rows in front of my 3 family seats was unnecessarily stupid.

As long as you already know the story of Jesus this will make a lot of sense. There is some drama and comedy definitely not a show for young children.

  • A Must See Performance

by juls on 10/22/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

This show was phenomenal , the choreography, special effects was spectacular. John, the disciple, was the narrator who walked the audience through the life of Jesus and offered a few jokes along the way. My only comment would be that I wished Jesus would have spoken during the performance especially during the crucification Act II. Act II was an emotional reenactment of Jesus' death on the cross to show mankind how much he loved them. I literally sobbed at that moment.

  • more than I had imagined

by Twinks on 10/22/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

The main theme of the show was good vs evil - God vs Satan. Well Satan was doing everything in his power to make sure my friend and I did not get to the show. Transportation issues, threat of bad weather, sickness, etc. But just like in the show after all Jesus went through, GOD WON! And for us going to the show... GOD WON for us too. The show with its special effects and the narration by the disciple John after being banished to Patmos.was a very dramatic way of hearing and seeing a well known story. Very well performed. Thank you,

The presentation was wonderful and moving. The narration by John was engaging and entertaining. There are a few times that they should have let Jesus speak his own words, The last supper and on the cross.

  • The Thorn - A Wonderful Production

by Jim Burton. - Buffalo, N.Y. on 10/21/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

This was an outstanding production with stellar performances by all. The Thorn has a special place for me in that I was in Colorado Springs judging at a gymnastics meet the first year it premiered. I was taken by my friend to the church where it all started and saw some of the rehearsals. I am also good friends with your choreographer, Lori Forster. The costuming and the level of acrobatics was exceptional. Extremely realistic and the all the computer-generated backdrops were stunning. I also appreciated the local humor interspersed by Old John, it was wonderful. We can never hear enough about Niagara Falls and chicken wings. This performance evoked plenty of audience interaction as well. I'm thrilled the tour was able to come to Buffalo and our beloved Sheas Theater.

  • Incredible!

Awesome show. The Gospel told through live theatre on a caliber that competes with the best of Broadway. Very well done.

  • really good

The thorn was done very well. As a Christian, I enjoyed it very much. However, I think the first half of the play would be confusing for those who don't know the Bible.
