  • Excellent

This was one of the most excellent performances I’ve ever watched. The production was top notch, including visuals and audio. It was hilarious, engaging but still delivered the key message of salvation.

Great actors, amazing show! This performance had me feeling all the emotions, I laughed, cried and even felt anger. The whole family will love this. John the disciple was my favorite, he was so hilarious.

I am not sure that the show could have been any better. Cast was spectacular, effects were spot on and sound was vibrant. Show was amazing and I would encourage everyone to see it if you have a chance.

  • Fantastic!

    by E.E. on 11/5/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

Not exactly what I was expecting, thought it would be a little more like a play, but it was more of a narrated musical/demonstration of the Bible. It incorporated a lot of theatrical elements, and was an incredibly well done production!

  • Too much John

by Tlkp on 11/5/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 3 out of 5

Who can complain about the story of our Lord? Never. My complaint is with the Apostle John and his length of story telling. He talked to too much, sometimes in excess of ten minutes- introduction was around twenty five minutes, no acting just talking in front of a black curtain. The actual play, acting and scenes were brilliant, amazing. The first half of was dull, second half came alive (with the exception again of John). The other uncomfortable part was prior to intermission, in a captive audience, the sponsor arrives on stage and asks for charitable contributions to their cause. This is ten minutes, at least. I felt it was time thief, as lights were still dim and you are expected to stay in your seats. Then you are led into intermission. Cutting the dialogue of John and moving the sales pitch to intermission and those who want to stay can, would have made this play much more worthy of $300 we spent on tickets.

  • Great and touching show!

Great show! Laughed and cried. It's a wonderful story and a great, creative way to share the story of Jesus. In this time of angst in the world, these type of stories need to be shared.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Thorne. It was very moving and brought me to tears at times, but also had John's comical parts. Definitely worth seeing!

  • Great show!

Well, it was a great event. Not what I expected, much better. Apostle John was the sole narrator. Then the acrobatics were fantastic! Choreography was amazing. Loved the whole show, and you will too! Do it, when it comes to your town.

Such an immersive experience. So professionally done! I found out about The Thorn a year ago. Always hoped that the production would visit our area. I was so thrilled that they came to Norfolk! Bought tickets right away ❤️ We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Didn't want it to end. We purchsed the Blu-ray. But, would definitely love to see it live again. Every cast member did a brilliant job!! Simply amazing!!! Thank you.

  • Overwhelming and Beautiful

by SidnKara on 11/4/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 5 out of 5

I have never heard the story fo Jesus as from John the Beloved friend of Jesus' perspective. It is a unique, overwhelming, beautiful story of deep friendship and love and the heartbreak of loss. John, presents it with such passion, expression and precision of humor and he was hugely relatable! Jesus was played like I have never seen before, so well done, so believable! Lighting, backgrounds, sets and costumes we also spot on. The floor rumbles and I LOVED the effect was awesome. I highly recommend this show, it will stay with you and make you think. The only PS announcement that I would give it is that it is really loud as it is supposed to be. I am sound sensitive and brought earplugs and I did well.

by Tony & Mechelle on 11/4/25Chrysler Hall - NorfolkRating: 4 out of 5

Truly, one of the best productions we’ve seen in a very long time! The humor was unexpected, but incorporated perfectly into the show. Being Christians and knowing the Bible really helped understand the different events that were played out. Well done! Bravo! Bravo!

The show was Great ! ! ! It was Narrated by John, The Apostle JESUS Loved. It was a Job well done, with a little bit of humor as well. The show kept my 15-year old Nephew engaged and interested.
