  • Walking through darkness into the light of Jesus.

by Wendy on 4/15/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent production! Although the story has been told many times before, the unique way the message was delivered was WONDERFUL!! I came away not only feeling the message but also knowing even in our darkest of times, we can live message. The best part of everything was experiencing this with a young child who's learning what Jesus did for us and to see their reaction while it's being played out in front of them was priceless!

This was quite a unique and entertaining telling of Bible accounts. We thoroughly enjoyed the play and the humor throughout was unexpected but appreciated. I highly recommend this show.

What a spectacular show. It was beautiful, funny, sad, touching. John and Satan were my two favorite characters. Excellent! The second half is intense and very moving. Prepare to shed tears.

“The Thorn” is a breathtaking fusion of theater, dance, and serial artistry that powerfully brings the story of Jesus Christ to life with raw emotion and divine spectacule. Every scene pulses with spiritual intensity, leaving the audience deeply moved and awestruck by its portrayal of redemption and love.

Wonderful scenery. Professional cast. A new take shown from point of view of John on Patmos.

  • Spectacular for the most part

by Tammy on 4/15/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

Jim Miles was spectacular!!! Loved his performance tremendously. The theatrics were incredible. The only thing I didn't care for is that the other actors/actresses didn't speak more when they did their scenes. It would have been so much better for new Followers in Christ to know exactly what scene they were performing to and told the story they were performing. Other than that, my group loved it!

  • Phenomenal

With my first time being at the hippodrome theater, everyone was so nice & friendly. A lot of sitting outside before the doors were opened and lots of fun.

  • Disappointed

by Chris on 4/14/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5

Paid $200 for the seats and couldn't see the show. Blocked by big speakers and the ladies doing sign language in front of us was distracting. We should have been advised that our $200 seats were obstructed view. Also, your site said Valet parking was available and it was not. We are in our 70's and had to walk 10 flights of stairs in the garage that was extremely difficult to get in and out.

  • Great job with scense not talking in the show not good.

by Sandy on 4/14/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5

I understand the guy John in the part did the main character with the whole show. He was outstanding! It would of been better , if the people in the show did some talking in the scenes. It was disappointing to me and some people at the show , said the samething. I gave it a 8 out of 10.

  • A Visual Masterpiece

by Jason on 4/14/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

The Thorn was a breathtaking reenactment of the life of Jesus, told with humor and love. The show was diverse and perfectly cast. Highly recommended if you like the story of Jesus.

  • Meaningful but loud

by TheatreBuff on 4/14/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

Anytime the gospel is presented it is meaningful and The Thorn is no exception! The sound level was way too loud and we were in the upper balcony and hard of hearing. I still think this is one of the best presentations I’ve seen, clearly showing God’s plan from Genesis through the Resurrection. And the staff at the Hippodrome is always excellent!

  • Wonderful!!!

by Smittyth on 4/14/25Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

I truly enjoyed the performance the artists were amazing. The show kept me capativated. However, I was disappointed with the venue. My seat was on the floor but a speaker obscured my view of the entire stage. This caused me to miss parts of the show I could not see. I was told I had to wait five minutes to enter the performance, yet it took longer and the staff did not take me to my seat I had to figure the seating out for myself. The facility should have big screens throughtout if customers can not enter the performance. This will allow someone who has paid to still see the show. We were told there was a screen at the end of the main floor in the refreshment area. I am a person with a disability who did not want to walk further than were my seat was located.
