The Swell Season was truly amazing!!!

by ListeningHeart on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

This may actually be the way Ireland saved civilization. Music for the passionate soul. Loved them and can't believe Indy was lucky enough to get this show.

The Swell Season rocked da house!

by limodriver on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Yeah, the only thing I would complain was about Mark, who was an good performer...but seven/eight songs were too much as an opening act. Okay, Glen and Marketa, you rock!! There were the quieter ones and louder ones but I can't really say which I enjoyed more -- there was never a dull moment when they are playing and singing! Glen's solo was absolutely mind-blowing. The amazing sound from his worn-out guitar and his voice only was well worth the price. In "say it to me now" he even unplugged everything and sang his heart out. Marketa's lead-singing was fabulous as well! The somewhat lazy, bossa-novaish voice rendered beautiful, beautiful tunes and was unforgettable. I just wish I could sit closer 'cause everybody in the front seats went nuts and they went standing up and clapping, they're enjoying the show so much that I wanted to sit there as well. Btw, the songs they sang were the "once" songs, the swell season new songs and the old "the frames" songs were in the last part. Glen waved goodbye in that last song and concluded this incredible performance. All in all, awesome show that you can't miss! Especially if you're a big fan of the movie "Once".

    A night of true art

by wesmeetumnas on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

The Swell Season are an example of people who care about creating, about making the world a more beautiful place in which to reside, and about magnifying the shared humanity that exists in our society. They also happen to be fantastically skilled musicians as well... :) If only all musicians and thus all concerts came from this vein.

    Go to the show! :)

by debdragonfly on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

If you are thinking about attending a Swell Season concert, stop thinking and buy the tickets. I missed my local venue when they were here, and drove 3 hours one way to catch them in Indy. Worth every moment to see them perform live. The music was awesome. This is one those concerts that is better than a recorded album - they really shine live! I would see them again tomorrow if I could :).

I Swelled with Excitement for The Swell Season

by TaraTRex on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

This show is the best show that I have ever seen. Glen Hansard and Marketa are better in person than they are on their album! The audience stayed involved as we were entertained for hours! I hope to see them again in my lifetime! Great Job! I would give 5 stars!

Glen, Marketa and The Frames are swell!

by IndyKJH on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

How can a band be so original, yet channel so many artists and genres? At times we heard Cat Stevens, Aaron Neville, Van Morrison (of course), The Why Store, classical, folk, blues, rock. Before the concert, I was a bit concerned that fame might take the edge of their energy. Not so. These guys swing from gentle to gutsy in a manner of seconds. Their music is a roller coaster ride of twists and turns and well worth the ride.

    Goosebumps!

by TheGuth on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

The Swell Season was amazing! The concert was intimate and fun and made me feel like I was really experiencing something special. The combination of their voices is a match made in heaven and I also loved the solo songs, The Frames songs, and the opening act. I have not one criticism of the entire night. I got goose bumps on several occasions throughout the night. We were celebrating our anniversary at the concert and it was romantic and a concert we'll never forget. Thanks for a great experience!

    Fantastic Night

by LPAkira on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

The show was great in most all respects. The musicians were all fantastic and the sound was great. Glen and Marketa came out back after the show and just talked with fans. The show was run well. Everything was smooth, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only tiny, tiny complaint I can think of is that the intermission was a little long.

Glen can really work a croud

by Jonny4Fingers on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Great show. Glen makes you feel like your just sitting in a pub listening to him. They mixed in some AC/DC, a little "sexual healing" and even a violin solo. Very AWESOME!

Swell season at Clowes Memorial Hall, Indy!

by Muerachavez2002 on 11/3/09Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

One of the most intimate and great perfoming I ever saw. It was much better than the one I saw at The Riviera, Chicago, almost 2 years ago!
