The concert was great!!!! Each Band put on a great show. I had good seats and everyone around me was having a great time. Thank you, Vivian and Rick
I enjoyed the show!!! It was great to see those bands come back with their popular hits some of which I had forgotten. I was a little upset with Sugar Foots as it seemed as if he wasn't able to give the public the performance we deserved but his band made up for it. I only wish that Cameo had given us more songs but over all I really enjoyed the show.
The singers were excellent, the bands were rocking...it just wasn't long enough. I simply loved it!
Awesome concert, brought back lots of memories. All the groups was on point. My only disappointment was no programs.
Seeing the bands live gave me a whole new appreciation for their music. These bands love what they do and you could feel it in the air!!!
Really enjoyed our old school superstars funkmasters. They started 5 min early of the intended time of 7 pm. ConFukSun, Ohio Players, and the BarKays lit up the house with their collaboration of medleys. Each band played their signature songs to bring back those memories. The sound system was clear and audible. Only the mic for Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players needed to be turn up to hear him sing. After the set changed, WAR came out with vengeance...Lonnie and his new band opened up with City, Country, City and then hit their songs. Even without original member Lee Oksar playing his harmonica, his replacement didn't miss a tune. They were on point as well. Then last but least CAMEOSIS close out the show. They did their thing by opening with She Strange...that put everyone on their feet. The bass, etc.etc. Eventhough the Cameo ended at 10 pm., I thought they could of played alittle more but...it was Sunday nite. GREAT SHOW!
The show was off the hook! It was one of the best shows that I have attended! Keep it coming!
this was the best concert i have ever been to. they still had it! sugar foot was the man. his voice was still the same and still charming as ever. we danced and sang the entire concert. good audience participation. i know all the groups really felt the love cause everbody was singing all the songs and dancing too. all the songs still sound the same. i loved sugar foot the best.
this was one of the best concerts yet. i would tell anyone that if the chance come you have got to check it out .
The show was "Off The Chain"!!!! I just wish we could have heard "CAMEO" a bit longer. But "WAR"did it up!!!!!
Overall I liked it! My biggest gripe is that ConFunkShun, Bar Kays, and the Ohio Players were crammed into one hour!!!! Really......? Wow! That was a major let down, to me! So it was the three groups, WAR, and Cameo. I loved all of the performers but like I said.....cramming the 3 groups into an hour was not cool!
The show was very rushed and the Ohio Players, Confunshun Barkay set was not bad but Confunshun let me down just two songs, next my performer of the evening and should be headliner was War, great show and they really stole the show. Last but not least, Cameo let me down, Larry Blackmon was ill or just plain old but he did not do a good job and he left the stage for a song or two, Cameo sounded great but the set was short and no return to the stage for encore, the whole affair was rushed and I really wish I could get a refund because the energy left the building early.
The concert was so quick; it was hard to remember. Confunction/ Berkey, and Ohio players performed well. Ohio player lead singer needs to retire and allow the younger part of the group to take over. War-was one of the best entertainers. They were the best performer of the night. I am one of Camio's best fans. I was disaponted that the lead singer kept walking off the stage. The mothers perform well nut everything ended too soon. I did not get to hear all the best songs from the volt. I wished they could have perform longer. The music started from 7-10:30. It was almost like a sampler.
I had the best time at this show. It was well worth a trip from DC. I love the concerts at the Hampton Coliseum and this had to be the best. I simply have not stopped talking about Cameo, WAR, The Ohio Players, Con Funk Shun and the Bar Kays. I can not choose the best because all of the groups were on top of their game. Their voices were so strong and they moved like they were 30 years younger. I was so impressed. I would certainly love to see it again. For a few hours I felt young again. I would just like to Thank all of the stars for making such memorable music. I love you all.
The Superstars of Funk concert was outstanding! To see some of our favorite performers from the 70s & 80s performing some of their best music was truly enjoyable. Allowed my mind to go back in time for a few hours and reminisce on those great moments in music.
I loved the show. Everyone sounded great and the sound system was perfect.
As always, good to see the best of the ole school funk bands. More advertisement needs to get out so more folks attend these concerts. I only wish the bands could have played at least 2 more songs each, it seemed rushed because having 5 bands, not a lot of time for each. Cameo was bad, wish they played Rigor Mortis and wish The Bar Kays played Traffic Jammer. All and all, good concert-started right on time-good for a Sunday evening.
The bands did not disappoint; they took us back to the good old days!
Cameo and the superstars of funk performed on 2/13/11 and the groups, live music and the bands were awesome, just like bands back in the days of real music. I can't wait till they come back agian. The group war was really good also. my only wish was that cameo would have performed longer and that the concert was on a friday or saturday.
