The Strumbellas know that misery loves company, and that if we’re together, even in dark times, there’s some joy in that. Their songs of suffering and celebration date back to their 2012 debut My Father And The Hunter, and the band have obsessively chased big hooks, group vocal exuberance, and folk-rock propulsion through their 2016 breakthrough Hope to 2024’s Part Time Believer. The Juno and iHeartRadio Music Award-winning group’s new song Hard Lines gives listeners an urgent, new take on their iconic mix of intimate feelings with stadium folk sounds.
Determined to use every tool in their arsenal to write a good song, The Strumbellas started by looking inward: random song titles, non-sequitur ideas, scraps of paper, and voice memos of half-sung melodies came from everyone in the band. They then connected with their favourite collaborators, songwriters and producers anywhere from their home in Toronto to Vancouver, Nashville, or LA, to create demos that ranged from campfire-chord whispers to radio-ready productions. The long list was then whittled down by the band along with producer Chad Copelin (LANY, Sasha Sloan, Colony House), who recorded the band at his studio in Norman, Oklahoma. Copelin’s finely honed sonic instincts bring out a newly textured, insistently edgy side to The Strumbellas’ alt-folk stomp.
Great energy and amazing music. Everyone in the had crowd loved the show.
First time seeing them live, I will definitely see them again
This was my first time seeing The Strumbellas and they did not disappoint!! The River 92.5 had their RiverFeast to benefit the Greater Boston Food bank and The Strumbellas were the headliners. The venue was small and very personal. The band was energetic, interacted with the audience and played a good variety of their music. I highly recommend
The Strumbellas were amazing!! Their music, their interaction with the audience, I would highly recommend seeing them! And the venue was great.
The River Boston’s annual benefit night for the Greater Boston Food Bank was perfectly executed. Delicious food, great silent auction items, and THE BEST music. Jason Spooner Band was a solid opener, but The Strumbellas took the audience at Blue Ocean Music Hall to the moon and back! Would have paid to do it all again the next night!
Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury MA. Such a great show by both bands! Also a great venue!
This was by far one of the best concerts i have been to. Small venue concerts are the best and The Strumbellas put on a great show. I would see them a million more times.
No matter where you are at this venue, you are up close and personal with the band! Just how I like it. Great show by the Strumbellas!!
Strumbellas put on an amazing show and sounded fantastic. They even sang a song without music or microphones and the whole venue was silent. Then they had us jumping for joy and screaming through tears. I feel so lucky I was able to see them in such a small venue. They sounded great. I matter where I stood. I brought people who didn't know their music and they became fans after the first song. Love this band, and I love this venue.
The Strumbellas brought great energy, were engaging and sounded fantastic!
I took 3 friends who are not as into the band as me...but they all had a great time anyway. The sing along quotient is fun!
The show was a good one. I saw Strumbellas at ACL in 2016 and loved them, so had to see them at The Paradise again. Of their 3 cd's HOPE is a clear cut over the first two. They played nearly every song with notable exceptions David and I Still See Her Cry. Show could have been longer capping out at around 75-80 mins, but it was a Monday I suppose. Sound system was good as usual at the Paradise and the audience enjoyed the show without taking away the experience of others. IDK why, maybe a folksy maturity?? Maybe the good part of seeing a show on Monday night? Would highly recommend this band to anyone who gets oppty to see them. and Pick up Hope if you don't have it.
Great night Out . Fun support band before the Strumbellas came on at 9 o'clock they played till 10 wrapping up with "guns in your head." They came back for an encore which everyone enjoyed .Upbeat and fun dancing along to my favorite band from "The River" .
Fantastic show at a great venue. You can really tell these guys love what they do.
Great venue, even better band!!!. Lines to beer and bathrooms short. Easy to see and a great environment.
Can't wait until they play some nicer places! I will go see them again and again.. great energy, great music. Venue sound was just ok.
The Strumbellas were awesome but they would have sounded much better if the music wasn't so loud and we could actually hear them sing. When they performed a song without the microphones and all the noise, they were amazing! I did not like the venue because of the sound system and the obnoxious, loud crowd.
I would highly recommend going to a Strumbellas concert! They put on an amazing show, lots of energy and fun! They include the audience as much as they can, which is a lot of fun. They are a must see band!
This was a great show to take in. The group had a ton of energy and involved the crowd frequently throughout the evening. The whole band is entertaining, but the female violinist was my favorite! She is fantastic! I would see them again if given the chance :)
The Strumbellas were amazing, as was the opening act, Noah Kahan. I’d never been to the 20th Century Theater, but loved it! We were right beside the stage and had an excellent view of the show. This was probably one of my favorite shows, and I’ve been to a lot.
