THE STROKES IN CONCERT:
American rockers the Strokes have been wowing audiences with their infectious hooks and post-punk influenced sound ever since breaking out in 2001 with Is This It. At the group's acclaimed live shows frontman Julian Casablancas showcases his distinct vocals on favorites like "Reptilia" and "Last Nite" while his bandmates keep pace with edgy guitar riffs, thumping basslines, and pounding drum patterns. With a decade-spanning collection of popular anthems at the ready, the Strokes always have fans singing along to their energetic sets on their can't-miss tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
New York City-based indie act the Strokes formed in 1998 and began playing local shows at popular venues in the area. They earned attention from major label execs after gaining widespread popularity for their intense live shows and with the release of their 2001 EP The Modern Age. They released their debut full-length album Is This It that same year, receiving universal acclaim from critics and fans and landing on Rolling Stone's Top 10 Debuts of All Time list. The five-piece has has continued to rule the charts with four more Top 10 albums over the course of the last decade, earning numerous awards and accolades in the process. FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"When The Strokes came out, everything was just so perfect. Julian Casablancas is literally the best frontman ever. He went into the audience twice! Also, Fab, Nick, Nikolai, and Albert are so talented."
"It was really good. They sound just like they do on the albums, and often times songs sound even better. Even "You're So Right" sounded great. They weren't stiff or boring, they were far from it."
"This show was absolutely amazing! One of the best -- if not the best -- concerts I've ever seen. The Strokes were fantastic! "

Never seen them live, it is one of my dreams to see them in concert. They have been my favorite band since I was in High school. I hope someday they come to San Diego!š„²š
They put on one erratic, loud, and bare performance. As a band they are truly authentic and are all about the music.
Julian still sounds great. While the band may not be the most exciting to see live, the music definitely makes up for it. Can't wait to see them again!
This band means everything to me, it was so great to see them perform, even if their frontman is erratic. Electrifying live band and once in a lifetime experience.
Great show in Philly. Fun time even with a short set.
Croon and raw, messy and distorted. A kick ass way to present themselves, class act.
Title explains it all. Was at the Philly show for the Unlimited Love tour. So happy Iām someone who can say āI saw The Strokes live.ā
Great band. Electrifying performance. Crude and entertaining to watch in the city of brotherly love.
I donāt care if the band sounds imperfect, in fact thatās the beauty with them. They are authentic as performers, but Julian could behave a bit better lol.
I wish with all my heart to attend a presentation...hopefully soon.
They were good, not great. Seemed like they were a little rusty on their music. Still a good show, but not one of the bands that sound just like they do on the album. A little shaky.
I got to see my favorite band of all time live finally. They were amazing. Iām still riding that high almost a whole month later <3
Went to the September 15th RHCP concert in Orlando and although the strokes only had the chance to play 6 songs (due to rain delay) they absolutely killed it and sounded great.
I took my daughter to see them last night 9/18 at the Globe Life Field in Arlington sheās so in love with the band and it was nice to watch her see the performance by her favorite band and I got to see why she likes them. THEY ARE PRETTY GREAT š my favorite song now is Reptila
i wrote a review earlier but my phone glitched. I went to the September 3 red hot chili peppers concert in Philly and the strokes opened up for them. The guitarist and the drummer were great but the frontman needs some improvement. I could not hear him at all and he mumbled his words. He spent 90% of his performance talking to the crowd, talking down on Philly and he seemed very uppity and he seemed like he loved to hear himself talk. There was a Santa Claus in the audience and he pointed out how āsanta isnāt realā and there was a father with two small children in front of me and the kids looked absolutely heartbroken and the dad was left furious (with good reason) and the family left. I think the Strokes need to spend more time on their sound quality and less time with unnecessary banter that wasnāt pleasant nor was it showing any sort of gratitude for his fans. needs serious improvements. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were amazing though and RHCP made the show so worth it.
I went to the September 3rd Red Hot Chili Peppers concert and The Strokes opened for them. Their drummer and guitarist were great but I could barely hear him and he seemed to mumble also he seems a little full of himself. 90% of their performance was him talking and disrespecting Philly (where he was performing that night). There was also a Santa Clause in the audience and he pointed that out and how āSantaās not real.ā It was stupid but there was a dad with two little kids in front of me who were heartbroken. The dad looked absolutely furious (which is justified). I think The Strokes need to focus more on playing music and a little less banter thatās not engaging or pleasant whatsoever. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were great though.
First off, this concert was postponed literally the first days of the pandemic (3-14-20), so my excitement was being held in check because Iāve been dying to see the Strokes since their first album. Songs I knew were above par, not great, but the band put me to sleep by playing new songs that killed the flow of the concert at times. Then for the lead singer to say thanks for being their Guinnea pigs, as if I didnāt wait almost 2 years already. Lastly, worse experience getting to the venue. Should have known after seeing the Eagles at the forum two years ago. Getting to and from is a nightmare with traffic police not making it any smoother. Although that Eagles concert at the Forum was epic, Iām content with never traveling to the Inglewood area for any entertainment again, at least until I see major changes. I at least wanted to leave in awe of a good performance, but this fell kinda fell short, would love to say bad venue great band :( Ps, Warm up band ended at around 9ish and Strokes didnāt start until little after 10:05.
The actual show was awesome. I would give 5 stars, but the experience at the venue was not the best. The lines for the bathroom were so long. But the lines to get a cocktail were ridiculous.
Huge fan of The Strokes- their set was great and they still sound awesome. But the venue was disappointing, tickets were super overpriced for the seats we got, which were super cramped, baseball stadium style seats on the floor. The Strokes didn't take the stage until after a 45-minute long changeover where one roadie kept coming out and checking everything repeatedly, which clearly did nothing because the sound quality sucked, the balance was totally off and they had some acoustic feedback moments on the lead vocals. Not sure if the lighting choice was purposeful but the band members were in shadow for the entire performance, highlighting the LED screen behind them, but it would have been nice to have some spotlight moments on the guys so we could see them, too. To be honest I was disappointed with the show that I waited over 2 years to see, but will give the venue props for being pretty organized in their COVID regulations and getting people in and out of the venue in a timely manner.
And not in the good way. It was great to see them live, however I feel like the show was short, and I wished they wouldāve played more of a variety of their songs. I think the sound mightāve been off and there were many mistakes. I was also being groped by a stranger all night, whom I tried to get away from. I reached out to other concert goers and security, but had no help with this. Really dampened my experience.
