    A night to remember

by Gaby8707 on 6/21/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I took my 8yr old son to see this musical and from beginning to end it was VERY entertaining! I thought I would be a little bored but honestly I had just as much fun as the kids. I looked around and everyone was so attentive and smiling during the entire performance. The actors really engaged with the audience. There was a point where a pirate even locked eyes with my little guy and that truly amped his excitement. It was awesome and I'd recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to check it out. I am so glad we went.

    Fabulous set and energy

by musical777 on 6/21/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The Spongebob Musical brings the venerable Nickelodeon cartoon to life with energy and fun. Spongebob himself is fabulous. The show has a number of levels -- kids appreciate it of course, but there is deeper and more contemporary angles for adults too. The audience feeds off the energy.

    Family Fun

by Taylor22 on 6/20/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

My daughter is five and absolutely loved SpongeBob the musical. She sang the songs, she danced, there is some adult humor too, so good for the whole family. It probably helped that we attended a matinee, so she wasn't too tired to make it through to the end. Her only complaint was that she wanted to meet the real Spongebob, but other than that she has already asked to see it again!

    The Actors were AMAZING!! (6-16-16)

by amt318 on 6/20/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

This play was silly just like a SpongeBob Musical should be. But overall it was good. The actors were spot on with the characters they played. There was no overacting and their musical performances were so fantastic. The SpongeBob and Squidward characters were the most hysterical. Every time Squidward came on stage people were laughing; I'm sure it was because of the costume and the sound effects when he walked and the actors ability to bring Squidward to life. Overall it's a good play to take kids to because it's a wonderful set and a big performance with a lot to look at, which I think would keep kids entertained.

    Fun, Fun, Fun

by Shandygirl on 6/20/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Even though we had no kids with us and knew almost nothing about SpongeBob, we thoroughly enjoyed the show. The performers are top-notch, the set is amazing, and the costumes extremely clever. Squidward is especially well done, both his costume and performance. The songs are by a variety of artists so, of course, some are much better than others. Cyndi Lauper's "Hero is my Middle Name" is a real standout. Go, have fun.

Loved the show but it was long for kids

by Holh on 6/18/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

My kids really enjoyed the show but it was very long for a kids program (2.5 hours!). Also - they were really disappointed that Spongebob and Patrick just were regular people. Spongebob didn't actually have a Sponge like body. That's literally a vital part of the character. We have seen other children's musicals where the character adaptation is better. Like Disney's Nemo where they wear skin suit and still hold sticks with the characters. They could have been more innovative in that interpretation.

    So much fun

by Mamsie on 6/18/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Took my son for his 18 birthday. The music is really good - amazing list of musicians who contributed. Very cleaver. Second half s better than the first half. It builds to a really fun end. Try to sit on main floor. Better view and more a part f the action. The loge at the oriental is a joke. Worst seats. People who had little kids couldn't see anything. They asked to move to cheaper empty seats and were told no. We moved up to cheaper seats in the second half when the usher was MIA.

    Outstanding

by Gats8870 on 6/17/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Simply outstanding. So fun and a great musical. It was very festive with "Bikini Bay" being reproduced in the theater and lobby area. The drinks were themed too. The songs and actors were tremendous and again, so much fun. A great experience.

Integrating live action, props, multimedia and the "atmosphere" of Bikini Bottom was an amazing feat. Creativity plus music equaled excellence.

    Terrific!!!!!!

by Merriweather on 6/16/16Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I was very apprehensive about going to see the musical. I am so glad I went, it was great!! The main actors have such strong, amazing voices. I don't think I've ever seen an ensemble cast in such physical roles. They did an awesome job. After seeing it myself, I took my granddaughter to see it. She loved it! I'm preparing to see it a third time before the run is over. It is one of the best lively, feel good musicals to come along since Gotta Dance. I would recommend this show to everyone I know. I really hope it gets a chance on Broadway. It deserves it!!!! Congrats to all who got this show together, it's great!!!!!
