First off, the opening comic was something of a let down. His jokes and impressions did not land with the bulk of the room and the awkwardness was palpable. I understand the theme was to get an Italian comic to make some Italian jokes but they were old and tired and there’s a huge slate of Italian American comics who could’ve provided a better 15 minute set. Now, moving on to the actual show, I’d like to preface that this is the second time I’ve seen this show. The first being in 2021, and in my view that experience was better, despite all the modifications and limitations due to Covid-19. The Sopranos is and will always be my favorite show, and I was by no means looking for new content or stories to be shared the second time I attended (with someone who was unable to attend in 2021), however, this show seemed shorter and more rigid between the actors. There wasn’t as much banter between the three of them on stage and it seemed like they were just trying to “get through the night.” Even the Q&A portion was off. An imposed rule of not being able to ask a certain actor a question and instead having to ask all three left many people being called out by the emcee because they were not following the “rule.” Again, this was awkward and had that directive been shared in advance I’m sure people would’ve prepared more generalized questions versus a question for just one of them. Moving on to the good… Steve is a riot with the crowd! Vincent too had some standout moments and Michael is always a crowd pleaser. If you love the show, you’re not going to be disappointed with the insight that these three offer and if you haven’t read their book or listened to their podcast (the person I attended with had not done either), then you’ll really be in for a treat.
